I Forgot!

Astos struggled for control, but was unable to overpower Askyros.

"Yield!" [Astos]

"I refuse." [Askyros]

After moments of struggling, Askyros started moving Adam's body.

"Fula en Skirit. Dispel." [Adam?]

Snapping his fingers, the illusory realm vanished.

"A-Adam?" [Tiffany]

Adam looked at Tiffany and shook his head.

"No. I, Askyros, am currently possessing this body. Do not worry, I will return it soon." [Adam?]

Tiffany was left confused by what she heard.

"Excuse me-" [Tiffany]

"Silence." [Adam?]

Putting up a hand, Tiffany was left speechless.

"Hm…" [Askyros]

Gazing into the sky, he spotted a purple orb ascending and descending through the air.

"I see. I will handle this." [Askyros]

"You? Stop a gate transfer? Don't make me laugh. One mortal cannot possibly stop a gate transfer themself!" [Astos]

"We will see." [Askyros]

Crouching down, Adam launched himself through the air and grabbed the orb. He then pulled it down to the ground with him.

"Hold on! You're touching it with your bare hands?! Stop! You'll destroy this vessel!" [Astos]

"No I will not." [Askyros]

A blue flame surrounded Adam, forcing itself into the orb.

"This… You're sacrificing your very soul to destroy it? Ha… Hahaha! You fool! Go ahead and do that! When your soul vanishes, this body will be mine!" [Astos]

"Incorrect. I will only be sacrificing half of my soul." [Askyros]

"Half? Half won't be enough!" [Astos]

So Astos had said, but the orb suddenly shattered under the pressure.

"Huh?!" [Astos]

A rumbling noise echoed throughout the skies. Upon looking up, all could see the rifts quickly closing until there was nothing left.

"Impossible…" [Astos]

Stunned by the sight, Astos suddenly came to a realization.

("Wait, half of his soul is gone! I can take over Adam's body!") [Astos]

He attempted to take control once more. Unfortunately, an invisible force prevented Astos from coming close.

"This feeling…! The mortal?! You sacrificed half of your soul already! How are you capable of stopping me!" [Astos]

There was no reply.

("I have no choice. I'll destroy his soul directly!") [Astos]

Releasing whatever control on Adam's consciousness he had, Astos peered into the depths of Adam's soul. He soon found three beings. One, Adam asleep. Two, a sword. Three, a burly man sitting quietly.

"There you are!" [Astos]

Astos sent out his energy to destroy the burly man. However, the burly man raised a hand and crushed the energy.

"What?!" [Astos]

He stood there in shock. The burly man made no move against Astos, but he still felt a bit nervous.

("He's not going to attack?") [Astos]

Astos approached slowly, only to quickly notice something was off.

"This mortal… He didn't sacrifice half of his soul…? The only part left of his soul is his willpower!" [Astos]

Astos was left bewildered at what he registered.

("He chose to cast away his thoughts and life… His very existence…! What could make a man like him be willing to throw it all away?!") [Astos]

As he pondered in silence, Adam awoke.

"Agh… My head…" [Adam]

As his consciousness sharpened, Adam began to feel a rush of pain all over his body.

"Ow! Shit! Why does everything hurt so much?!" [Adam]

It took only one look to see the reasons why. There were burns, cuts, and bruises all over his body. It was then Adam recalled his fight against the guardian.

"Adam! Thank god you're okay!" [Tiffany]

Slamming into Adam with full force, Tiffany gave him a hug with eyes full of worry.

"Oh, that hurts! Please let go!" [Adam]

Tiffany backed away in an instant.

"Ah! I'm so sorry!" [Tiffany]

"Nope, it's okay. I think I'll just take a second to rest for a bit though." [Adam]

Moving slowly, Adam sat on the ground.

"Phew…" [Adam]

Seeing Adam relax, Tiffany aimed her hands at him.

"Allow me. Rejuvenate." [Tiffany]

A golden light washed over Adam, quickly healing his wounds as if they were never there to begin with.

"Oh…! Thanks Tiffany! You're a lifesaver!" [Adam]

Tiffany smiled.

"You're very welcome! I should go heal Felix too-" [Tiffany]

It was then that realization came across both of their faces.

"My god! We forgot Felix!" [Adam]
