The Self Proclaimed Rematch
This would be the second time Adam has ever fought against a dungeon master. He remembered his last fight with one, which ended in Sebastian coming to save him. However, this time will be different.
"Implode!" [Adam]
Launching himself forward, he charged up a pressure cannon in hand.
"Come!" [Ikyuu]
"Pressure Cannon!" [Adam]
The dungeon master charged up a ball of energy in hand, clashing it with Adam's Pressure Cannon in range.
The force of air scattered the energy and tore through the bystanding voidlings, but it didn't matter to Adam or the dungeon master. Adam slashed downwards in an effort to cut the dungeon master in half, which was evaded by a hair's breadth.
"Don't let him get away!" [Krino]
Adam switched his grip on the sword to do an upward strike, only to find the dungeon master's foot on it.
"Surprised? I'm not going anywhere!" [Ikyuu]
Putting all his weight on the sword, the dungeon master lifted himself up and kneed Adam in the face.
"Urgh!" [Adam]
It hurt. So much so that it somehow made him feel alive.
("Yeah… A rematch like this should at least be this troublesome…!") [Adam]
Adam let go of his sword and twisted his entire body into a single punch. Though the dungeon master tried to block, Adam's fist slipped under his guard and into his torso.
"Ngh!" [Ikyuu]
("Such force?! Is he even human?!") [Ikyuu]
Ikyuu stumbled back a bit before finding Adam grasping Krino and aiming for the neck.
("Already?!") [Ikyuu]
Leaning back was all he could manage to dodge the slash, which turned into a retreat against a cascade of black and white blades.
"Don't give him room to breathe!" [Krino]
The dungeon master ran in circles to evade the flying swords, turning the voidlings behind him into collateral.
("All these projectiles leave no opening. If that's so…") [Ikyuu]
Carefully observing, the dungeon master filled his palms with energy.
("Then I'll make one.") [Ikyuu]
He fired off a few balls of energy, intercepting Adam's own projectiles.
("Is he trying to overpower me in a firefight?") [Adam]
Is what crossed his mind before seeing the balls ricocheting off the swords, effectively scattering them and throwing them off course. This left a wide gap leading directly to Adam.
("Perfect.") [Ikyuu]
Ikyuu did not miss a beat. He made a mad dash towards Adam, making sure that there wasn't any time to prepare any more projectiles.
("Heh. He fell for it.") [Adam]
The dungeon master heard a click alongside the ring of metal before witnessing Adam toss something his way.
("What is that…?") [Ikyuu]
Somewhat confused, he inspected it a few seconds prior to light expelling itself from the round object Adam tossed.
"Boom." [Adam]
The object exploded with a surge of mana. Blue fire engulfed the dungeon master as sharp debris tore at his skin. Though he had sustained some damage, it wasn't enough to hinder his combat ability.
("Those crafty humans…!") [Ikyuu]
Pain still searing his body, Ikyuu glanced around.
("Damn smoke!") [Ikyuu]
The explosive device Adam tossed had covered the area with dust, leaving Ikyuu blinded. Feeling frustrated, Ikyuu blew away the dust cloud with a single swipe of his hand.
"Am I getting to you?" [Adam]
Ikyuu spun around with a kick towards Adam's voice, who then blocked promptly.
"You should have kept your mouth shut if you wanted to ambush me." [Ikyuu]
Adam smirked.
"Now that wouldn't be very fair would it?" [Adam]
Flipping Krino upside down, Adam rammed the butt of his sword into Ikyuu's chin. He continued the momentum to stab downwards onto his opponent's foot, but Ikyuu slid it out of the way at the last moment.
"That was close wasn't it?!" [Ikyuu]
Ikyuu grinned as he slammed Adam with his shoulder and grabbed Krino to keep Adam from leaving his reach. What he didn't expect was Krino shooting lightning up his arm in retaliation.
"Ack!" [Ikyuu]
He quickly pulled away, giving Adam room to recover.
"Pressure Cannon!" [Adam]
Firing it off quickly at this distance would usually strike true, yet his opponent was only grazed by it. Much like the dungeon master's appearance, their reflexes were monstrous. Ikyuu had ducked under fast enough to narrowly escape the lethal breeze and tackled Adam to the ground.
"It's my victory!" [Ikyuu]
Energy converged at the Ikyuu's horn, in which he aimed at Adam point blank.
"Oh shi-!" [Adam]
He raised his arms to guard against the torrent of scalding energy.
("It burns!") [Adam]
It was so hot that it almost felt cold. Without his inhuman durability, it would have incinerated him within an instant. For now, the most it had done was peel at his skin.
"You can't go on like this! Get him off you!" [Krino]
Adam pushed through the pain, allowing the energy to hit him in the face as he grabbed the dungeon master's horn.
("What?! How is he enduring this?!") [Ikyuu]
Adam pushed the horn upwards, pulling the deadly beam of energy off of him.
("No! I can't give up this position!") [Ikyuu]
Fighting back, Ikyuu attempted to push his head back down. In his mind, it was only a matter of time to finish his foe.
("Wh-Why- No, HOW is this guy's neck muscles so strong?!") [Adam]
He clamped two hands on the horn to keep the beam off of him. The two continued at overpowering one another, but the horn could no longer bear the weight. With a loud crack, the horn snapped off.
"Eh?" [Adam] [Ikyuu]
For just a moment, the two stared at the horn and at each other with puzzled looks.
"M-My horn…" [Ikyuu]
"Happens to the best of us." [Adam]
Returning to his senses, Adam slammed a fist into Ikyuu's face.
"Argh!" [Ikyuu]
Adam struck Ikyuu hard enough to get off. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to keep him down. The two sluggishly stood, each with their own burns, cuts, and bruises.
"Never had I ever had such a hard time with an inferior being." [Ikyuu]
Adam put on a smug look.
"I'd say the same for the closeness of this fight, but I can never catch a break. You're just meh." [Adam]
"Meh…?" [Ikyuu]
Anger rose within.
"If this is your so-called "meh", allow me to show you something better." [Ikyuu]
The dungeon master then raised a hand to the heavens.
"Roht! Your loyal servant is in peril! I beseech you, oh great god! Grant me strength!" [Ikyuu]
As if to answer his pleas, a small light descended from the skies. It was as if a star itself fell into the dungeon master's hand.
"What… is that…?" [Adam]
A sinister smile creeped on his face.
"Roht has answered my blessing." [Ikyuu]
