Like Human, But Worse
The fight against the six Supreme Heroes was more of a challenge than Adam had expected. Each of them specialized in a strange weapon, and each of them had their own gimmick. It wasn't that they were just incredibly strong, it was just that it would take a lot of time to get rid of them.
"|Grasping Talon|!" [Supreme Hero]
Swinging down an oddly shaped axe, Adam intercepted with his sword.
("Huh?") [Adam]
This hero in particular used an axe that was shaped as a hook. It was sharp, meant for rending flesh and hooking onto the opponent's weapons. When held by the average soldier, it's made with steel as the blade and wood as the handle. In this case, it was entirely made of steel as if to show status.
("Give him some lightning!") [Adam]
Krino sent a current through the Supreme Hero's axe, forcing his opponent to jolt back and retreat as he was electrocuted.
"Careful! He wields lightning at his will!" [Hook Axe Supreme Hero]
"Surround him! Don't let him escape!" [Supreme Hero]
The heroes began to move, as if Adam wasn't going to do anything about it.
"Pick out the weakest one." [Astos]
("I know.") [Adam]
Before their formation was completed, Adam rushed the hero he determined to be the weakest link.
"You're coming to me?! Very well!" [Supreme Hero]
This hero wielded two curved daggers, which told Adam he was specialized in speed over power. Someone like that wouldn't harm him too much even if he rushed it.
"|Burning Flurry|!" [Twin Dagger Supreme Hero]
Grinding the two daggers against each other, they burst into flame. He unleashed several blinding slashes Adam's way.
"Pressure Cannon." [Adam]
Sending a blast of air, he blew the Supreme Hero's skill wide open. Adam then sent an arm straight through, grabbing the man by the neck before plunging his sword into the hero's heart.
"H-How…?!" [Twin Dagger Supreme Hero]
"You were evil. That's how." [Adam]
"E… vil? But that's… you…!" [Twin Dagger Supreme Hero]
Losing his strength, the Supreme Hero tried to thrust a dagger into Adam's neck. However, Adam avoided it with a tilt of his head. It did, somehow, barely nick him.
"..." [Adam]
He felt the Supreme Hero go limp, unable to resurrect due to Adam's absorption of his |Divine| energy. Adam then released the hero before facing the others.
"...He's not reviving?" [Supreme Hero]
"Were none of you going to help him?" [Adam]
There was definitely time for at least one or two others to intervene. It just looks like they were all simply standing idle, like it was some form of entertainment to watch.
"He was weak." [Unbothered Supreme Hero]
"I honestly didn't really like him." [Hook Axe Supreme Hero]
"It was good that he tested the waters. Now we know we won't come back even after death." [Calm Supreme Hero]
Some others nodded along with that statement.
"...You guys disgust me." [Adam]
"...Disgust you? Says the person who slaughtered over seventy percent of our lesser heroes." [Unbothered Supreme Hero]
"Watching them struggle was hilarious. Especially that Tearsman guy. Did he really think he was on the level of a Supreme Hero?" [Arrogant Supreme Hero]
Their lack of empathy was repulsive. It was like the people he was looking at were monsters in human skin.
"Besides… Why do you even care? You're not long for the underworld." [Arrogant Supreme Hero]
Just then, Adam felt a searing pain coming from his neck.
"Ngh!" [Adam]
Touching where the Twin Dagger Supreme Hero nicked him, Adam found a green liquid on his hand.
"...Poison." [Adam]
"Didn't take long for you to figure that one out. Poison was the only thing that brought that guy into the ranks of Supreme Heroes anyway." [Hook Axe Hero]
"This is probably the best situation we could ask for. A monstrous traitor that was unstoppable until you reached us, the Supreme Heroes. Once you die, the people's faith in us will grow evermore." [Arrogant Supreme Hero]
The fact that they could scheme like this right after the death of one of their comrades made it ever so sickening.
("I can't stand listening to this any longer.") [Adam]
Using the |Divine| energy stored in him, Adam located and guided all the poison in his body and purged it out of the wound it originally came from. From an outsider's perspective, it looked like Adam shot out a dark yellow liquid out of his neck.
"...Did he just…?" [Confused Supreme Hero]
Wiping the remaining poison off his neck, Adam approached the Supreme Heroes.
"I hope you struggle." [Adam]
It was no longer about picking targets, or sticking to the most optimal strategy. For someone like Adam, attacking the nearest person was his style. Especially when he was furious.
"You're going after me?! Do you think I'm as weak as the others?!" [Supreme Hero]
Wielding a spear oddly similar to a pitchfork, the Supreme Hero let out a powerful stab. Adam tried to parry it, but it was stuck to the spear the moment the hero turned his wrist.
"What can you do now, evildoer?!" [Three Pronged Spear Hero]
He yanked back to pull Adam's sword, in which Adam let it happen. Instead of being helpless without a weapon, Adam pushed forward, crushing the hero's jaw with his fist.
"Ah…? AH?!" [Three Pronged Spear Hero]
He clasped onto his jaw, afraid of it falling off. Normally, Adam would take his weapon back and finish his opponent off, but he waited.
"Anyone not going to jump in on this?" [Adam]
Just like before, the other heroes were idle.
"Don't tell me you guys are afraid." [Adam]
Opening his hands, he made a show of himself.
"I'm unarmed. What could you be afraid of? Oh wait, you must be waiting for me to off this guy so you guys can get more political power?" [Adam]
None replied.
"Fine." [Adam]
Reaching for his sword, the Three Pronged Spear Supreme Hero swung to keep him from collecting it.
"Aah! Aah, ah!" [Three Pronged Spear Hero]
A surge of water discharged from the spear, crashing into Adam's chestplate. The armor, fortified by |Divine| energy, split the water like it was a mere splash, allowing Adam to simply push through.
"Is that supposed to be your gimmick? Water?" [Adam]
The Three Pronged Spear Hero swung his spear more, retreating to keep Adam away. Unfortunately, he kept using water based skills, proving his efforts useless. It wasn't until his back was against the wall that he used something else.
"Ah…! Ah!" [Three Pronged Spear Hero]
Casting aside his spear, the proud Supreme Hero bowed. Planting his forehead on the ground, he begged without words.
"Ah! Ah ah, ah!" [Three Pronged Spear Hero]
The other heroes laughed at the sight. Adam on the other hand only stood over him, unfeeling for the Supreme Hero.
"...If you were in my shoes, would you grant mercy?" [Adam]
"Ah?" [Three Pronged Spear Supreme Hero]
The moment the Supreme Hero raised his head, Adam crushed it under his foot. Blood, chunks of bone, and brain matter splattered the floor, some of it sticking to Adam's shoe.
"...You truly are evil." [Hook Axe Supreme Hero]
Adam turned to face the remaining heroes.
"I told you, I take no pleasure in what I'm going to do." [Adam]
Extending a hand to his sword, Adam used his ability to pull it back into his hand.
"Telekinesis?" [Arrogant Supreme Hero]
"He's hiding more abilities." [Unbothered Supreme Hero]
"I think we've lost enough Supreme Heroes today. I think we should take him down all at once." [Hook Axe Hero]
The other Supreme Heroes exchanged glances before nodding.
"Agreed. The power balance must be maintained." [Calm Supreme Hero]
They all lunged at Adam, weapons ready. The first was the Arrogant Supreme Hero, wielding a weapon with the same functions of a hammer. It was basically a stick with a giant metal ball attached to the other end. It carried the power of ice, leaving a chill behind as he swung it.
"|Glacio|!" [Hammer Supreme Hero]
With a downward slam, Adam caught it with one hand. A shock reverberated throughout his body as the floor tiles shattered upon impact. The |Divine| energy within Adam reacted to the power, strengthening his physique as a counter-reaction to the sudden force.
"Hm?" [Adam]
Ice formed around his hand due to the prolonged contact with the hammer, allowing the other three Supreme Heroes to attack seeing that he was stuck.
"|Aero Cutter|!" [Unbothered Supreme Hero]
"|Gigant Rend|!" [Hook Axe Supreme Hero]
"|Million Dazzle|!" [Calm Supreme Hero]
A greatsword sharpened by the wind, a hook axe with the might of a giant behind it, and a book releasing little lights as hot as the sun itself. All were aimed towards Adam.
"Krino." [Adam]
With a burst of lightning, Adam's armor shattered the ice on his hand. Then, in a single motion, Adam sheathed his sword.
"|Blinding Slash Arts: Single Point Draw|." [Adam]
All it took was the blurring of his hand. Without sound, without light, without indication, the four heroes fell.
"...Impressive." [Old Man]
Sitting high on his throne, the old man stared at Adam. The one who stood amongst the deceased Supreme Heroes, the one who opposed him.
"You've one hero left. Is he enough to save you?" [Adam]
The old man smiled.
"Are you enough to stop him?" [Old Man]
