Devil's Eyes

He immediately moved in front of them protectively as the voice seemed to have come from that direction.

"What was it?" Isabella's eyes went wide as they heard the weird howl once again but this time it seemed to have shook the ground beneath them.

"Take Mason to the car and leave. He isn't dead." His wolf was finally able to communicate to hers.

She stared at his back weirdly as if trying to decide whether to listen to him or not but she didn't have much time to ponder upon it as a few feet away from them, the ground started crumbling making a deep hole to appear inside it.

"What the…" Instead of moving she stayed rooted to the spot, her wide eyes following the tree roots that have started coming out of the hole and crawling towards them as if they had a brain of their own. They were making a weird hissing sound with their movements, causing a hustle to appear in the peaceful silence of night.

Darkness chose to remain silent!
