Orsini

Leon looked at Guild Master Erik in a new light.

"Sir, I didn't know you were so strong."

Erik had picked up the unconscious leader like a sack of potatoes and started to head over to Leon at the cart.

"Stop with that sir stuff Leon, I'm practically your father and I'm your guardian. You don't have to be so formal with me, E-R-I-K is my name. As for my strength, I am actually a little bit rusty since I don't get to do a lot of fighting as Guild Master, however, I am a top-tier Adventurer Leon. Remember to look back at that overwhelming difference in strength and aim to go beyond it."

Erik then put the leader of the attackers in the back of the wagon and continued on the journey to Orsini. After about a day of traveling, the group had almost reached Orsini until the unconscious leader woke up. The man was about to try to escape before Erik slapped him across the cheek with the strength of a bear and the man fell unconscious again.

While the cart bumped up and down from the uneven surface of the road, Erik had his hands on the reins of the wagon that was being pulled by four horses and gave a hearty laugh while talking.

"Tch, it really is quite a shame we didn't bring any strong binding items. It would have made this easier and less annoying. Well, I guess I never thought I would have gotten attacked on the way there."

While Leon sat alongside Erik, the rest of the trip was uncomfortable with the uneven road, but no more attacks or disturbances occurred. Besides the occasional beating Erik gave to the poor man who had chosen the wrong convoy to attack, this kept on for almost a week. When they were merely two more days from Orsini, something strange occurred.

Once again the leader of the brigands woke up, however, he held up his hands and shouted an almost muffled whisper with a hoarse voice.

"Please... please stop hitting me, I promise I won't run or do anything fun. Just stop the beating and pain."

Erik merely retracted his hand which was already ready to give the man another slap. While the man did attack Leon and Erik, Leon had slowly pitied the man as the trip went on longer. The poor man's face was unrecognizable from his original state, his face had swelled like a water balloon on the verge of explosion. Among all the swelling, a patch of black tinge lingered due to Erik's repeated bear slaps to send the man unconscious. His nose became crooked from the occasional times it was broken and re-healed with the enhanced regenerative speed the man's body possessed since he was still a fairly strong combatant in the eyes of anyone below the A Tier.

Along with the now submissive and beaten prisoner, the group had traveled the rest of the two days along the bumpy and uneven road and finally managed to approach Orsini.

While Erik had seen the capital and been to Orsini many times he did not have a reaction at the sight of the city, the same could be said for another reason with the submissive prisoner. However Leon on the other hand was a completely different story since he had never really been to a big city besides Verin, he was not prepared for the marvel of Orsini and his jaw wanted to hit the ground at the sight of the huge city.

Orsini was originally to act as a strong point to stifle and impede any invasion to the Kingdom of Partha due to this the sheer size of the city was only a level down when compared to the capital city. The size of the city was 100 square kilometers and had an intricate wall system. The outer walls were exactly like the double-wall system that was implemented in Constantinople, but with an extra third wall for extra defense. However the walls did not end there, the insides of the cities had various sections and had a bunch of walls that ran throughout the city like a maze, eventually, all of them feeding into a decent size square in the middle of the city where important and high-end places were located. The city was designed this way, just in case by the luck of god manages to breach the outer three walls. If they breach into the city, the walls containing the breach could be locked down with the gates closing and the troops could station themselves onto the top of the walls to defend. The city was like a vault that could shut off any part of its interiors for defense. The other three strongholds were built all like this and gave each city the confidence of being unbreachable.

Besides the amazing defense and layout of the city, the city was bustling with life as various citizens roamed around forming dense crowds even in the huge city. Much residential housing could be seen on the outer parts of the walls and the layout was somewhat similar to Verin overall, with the walls separating parts of the layers off.

By the time Leon finally got back to his senses, the group approached a line to get into the city that had hundreds of people waiting in it. After an hour of slowly waiting for their turns to get into the city, the group walked in front of dozens of pairs of guards that each inspected every person attempting to enter the city.

Erik and the group walked up to one of them and the guard who had a well-kept mustache and bags under his eyes sized them up.

"Please show some form of identification, your reasons for visiting, and the estimated time you will be here for."

Erik did not say anything and instead just showed the man his own guild card with a letter from the governor of Orsini for the Verin taxes and reports. Upon seeing this, the guard's face immediately softened up and he put on a smile. He led the wagon away from the crowd and into a small secret entrance for important people and visitors, he then got four guards to escort them to the governing building in the center of the city.
