A Collision in Verin (2)

The words he was going to say suddenly got stuck in his throat, even his heart started to race as fast as the multiple time he had faced death. Leon seemed like a statue from the outside, but inside of his mind, a war was going on.

In his mind were a bunch of Leons who were arguing it out amongst each other inside a building that looked like the inside of the British Parliament building. On one side a bunch of Leons sat side by side in red while another side sat across from them dressed in blue.

A Leon finally spoke up to everyone in the building and he wore red.

'I say we talk to her!'

Before he could add more, another Leon dressed in blue, from the other building interjected.

'Talk to her? We've never encountered this feeling and situation before! What is to say that this decision isn't the wrong one?! I say we wait and see if she talks to us first.'

The rest of the Leon's in blue all agreed and voiced it out.

'I agree.'

'I second.'

'Hear, Hear!'

'Give this man a medal!'

Suddenly the same Leon in red who spoke first interrupted the other side.

'If we decided to go along with your way, what says it doesn't go wrong? What if she doesn't even talk to us and a long awkward silence appears? What if she thought we should speak first and since we didn't, she thinks less of us?! I say we bite the bullet and talk first! What is speaking to a girl if we can face death every day?!'

All the Leon's in red stood up and started to holler as well.

'That's right!'

'You blue's are presumptuous!'

'Our red brother is right!'

'He says no cap or lies!'

The blue Leon interjected once again.

'This feeling that Leon is experiencing is something that is on par with death and failure might be worse than death, we can't take this lightly!'

However, suddenly all the Leon's sensed something was wrong.

Both Leons who were speaking for their respective side said the same thing.

'The session shall close due to emergencies!'

All this happened within only a second or two and Leon didn't consciously know of the meeting that took in his mind and only froze for a second or two. However, suddenly a girl looked angry and annoyed at Leon and walked over to pick up Emilia.

"Hmph, how dare you lowlife run into sister Emilia. Don't you know who she is? She's the rising star of the Phantom guild! People shouldn't be allowed to touch her and you bumped into her! I bet you did it on purpose!."

Everyone in Leon's group didn't feel too worried despite the harsh words the girl was throwing out, although it didn't seem like she knew that the group had actually helped save the lady who she was trying to defend. The group somewhat knew about Emilia and didn't think if things got violent she would let the people that helped her die. So they just chose to let Leon handle it.

Leon on the other hand was snapped back from his frozen state as a statue and the war within his mind had stopped from the sound of the girl. He tried to gesture that it was an accident.

"I think you are misunderstanding, it really was just an accident."

However, his words seemed to be falling on deaf ears as the girl just kept talking and insulting Leon. The rest of the girls didn't say anything and simply looked amused at everything that was happening since they could tell Emilia didn't get hurt.

This went on for a couple of seconds while Leon walked towards Emilia and stretched his hand out.

Seeing this a vein appeared on the girl's head.

"You really think sis is gonna touch you?! Have you lost your mi-"

Before she could finish Emilia gently grasped Leon's hand that pulled her up from the ground.

The girl had to wipe her eyes if she saw right. Emilia the stoic goddess who usually didn't show emotion or allow men to brush shoulders with her actually took the hand of someone who ran into her?

If the girl hadn't seen this with her eyes she would not believe anyone who told her what just happened. Emilia on the other hand merely dusted off her armor and turned around to face the girl.

"Stop it, Mackenzie, it truly was an accident so there's no need to barrage Leon with these insults."

Mackenzie was so shocked that she could cough blood from the sheer shock in fact the rest of the group also had their jaws drop. Emilia defended the guy who bumped into her and also stated the guy by his name? Even Kyle, Emilia's Guild master, might faint if he saw everything that just occurred.

Anyone who knew Emilia throughout her life would know that this was the first time she mentioned a guy her age by her first name. In fact, this would be the first time she voluntarily said a man's name, she even called Kyle by just "Guild Leader".

Even Leon's group was surprised as they had heard a little bit about the reputation of Emilia and they all lifted an eyebrow.

However, Leon didn't know any of this and thought it was normal for a girl to talk to people so he just carried on like it was nothing.

"Are you alright? You know I didn't mean to bump into you right?"

Emilia faced Leon and gave a smile that could melt ice on the coldest day, in fact, if any man in Verin saw her smile they might collapse from the cuteness and radiance it brought.

"Haha, I know you didn't mean to run into me. Although it was a nice surprise."

At this point, Mackenzie had lost feeling in her legs and just stared in astonishment at everything she was seeing. It was like the world that she knew and the knowledge she had accumulated in her life had been shattered.

On the other hand, Leon's heart started beating even faster after seeing Emilia smile. He felt the blood rush to his head and stood still awkwardly unsure of what to do.

'W-w-what do I do now?'

Then he remembered, the dagger hairpin he bought in Orsini!
