The silence remained as both sides just stared each other down. It was Jaso who broke the silence and the staring contest first. He realized he was letting his emotions control him.
"Achilles. Stop anyone from landing or taking away any mutant bodies except for the X-Men. Try not to hurt anyone. No one besides mutants are allowed on Genosha."
Achilles nodded and took off on his chariot while leaving Ashwatthama, Penthesilea, and Emma with Jason on the heli-carrier. Fury looked like he wanted to stop Achilles but one stare from Jason made sure that the words did not leave his mouth.
As furious as Jason was, as sad as he was, he knew he had a duty to fulfill. Even though so many mutants had died that day, if he acted out and let his emotions control his actions, the mutants would be painted as the villains even though so many had died.
From when he was a member of the Neo, he had been under the tutelage of Iskandar who was one of the greatest conquerors and rulers in the history of the world as well as Quetzalcoatl who was a goddess that governed her people well. He knew how to lead but never wished to. But on that day, he had to step up since no one else was able to.
Magneto and the rest of the inner circle were most likely dead. Mystique and Destiny were in temporary comas. Emma was traumatized. The loyalist Neo were wiped out. He had to be strong during this time.
His first concern was to ensure that the surviving mutants had a place to go but that was alleviated with the arrival of the X-Men. Most would think his secondary goal was finding out who was responsible but it was not. That was the third thing he needed to do.
His second objective was to make sure the dead mutants could rest in peace. He had heard too many times of those who tried to graft mutant body parts with other beings to try and get powers, those that treated mutants as animals and their bodies as delicacies to eat, and those that used mutant bodies for experiments such as cloning or DNA replication.
Jason would allow no one to treat his people as lab rats or animals that they could as they pleased with. This is why he wanted Achilles to ensure no one landed on the island. He was not sure if anybody with bad intentions were mixed in with the others.
The dead were already dead while the living were fine. They did not need anyone to help them at that point. Jason have Fury one more look before he walked to the edge of the heli-carrier with his group following behind him.
"Stay on the ship. I'll be right back."
The 3 acknowledged his words as his wings sprouted and Jason flew higher into the sky. He looked down and saw that the island had been cleared of everyone while all the unconscious mutants were on the X-Jet.
Jason nodded to himself before summoning Kusanagi and resuming the same pose he had when the sentinels were attacking. But instead of aiming at the sky, Jason was aiming at the very island itself.
"Rest well. No one will be able to harm you from now on. Brahmastra Kusanagi: The earth belongs to man and the heavens belong to the gods. Let this dragon subjugate the sky between them."
Another large amount of magical energy surrounded Jason before being forced into the blade. Everyone in the surroundings all had their eyes on Jason and were curious and cautious about what he was about to do. Many even aimed their weapons at him and were ready to attack.
But Jason did not care for any of them. He swung the blade toward the island and unleashed the energy slash covered in his personal flames that traveled to the center of the island. Once it reached the center, it unleashed a large wave of energy that destroyed almost everything on the island before they were pulled into the singularity at the center.
After the blast and singularity went away, the entire island lost 10s of meters in height. But what remained on the island was nothing. Truly nothing. The city that took up a large part of it, the forests that cover the rest, the lakes and rivers that go through the island, and the dead bodies of the mutants that were on it.
All of it disappeared as if it had never been there in the first place. Jason looked at it all with cold, emotionless eyes. This was Jason's answer.
"What the hell are you doing?!?!" a brunette with waist-length brown hair that had a white streak in it asked Jason as she flew through the air and grabbed Jason by his collar. He did not resist or fight back though. He looked her in the eyes and explained in a tone like he was talking to a child.
"Tell me, how many times have dead mutants been eaten or abused? Or cloned? Or used as a way to try and make a weapon against mutants? Can't give a number, right?
Now tell me where we would have buried 17 million mutants? Can you tell me who would have helped us dig them out of the rubble until we found every last one of them?
I'm not desecrating their bodies. I'm simply making sure that no one else can ever harm them again. I know you want to have hope that there are more alive. But the sentinels were thorough. I had my best check.
We... have truly lost so much today. Do not try to give yourself hope only to have it come crashing down on you."
Rogue looked at Jason's eyes and saw that he was serious. She began to weep into his chest as she knew he was telling the truth.
