POV Royal Guard Captain
His Highness has already left to go to the underground auction, and I still worry about his safety, but orders are orders. Even if I don't like what I'm told to do, I still have to get it done. After his highness left, we mobilized the Royal Guard and the City Guard. A portion of us will lock down and guard the exits of the city. While our main force dismantles the syndicate. This way no rats can sneak out during the chaos. I would say that this is an impossible task to complete in a single night, but his highness has tasked his bird, Nova to quicken our pace. With its power, I'm positive we'll be able to finish and get to the auction in time to protect his highness.
"Alright, we're moving out!" I yell to the 300 Royal guardsmen and the 700 local guards. "We have work to do!"
"YES SIR!!" A thousand soldiers replied all at once.
POV Syrin
"The first item up for auction is... a sword forged by renowned blacksmith Tobias Ambers." The same maid that brought us to our room earlier walks onto the stage. She's pushing a cart with a normal looking broadsword on it. "Don't be fooled by its plain look. This isn't a sword built for decoration, but a sword for killing. As you all know Tobias Ambers always makes swords for use, and not to be hung on a wall or placed on a pedestal." Everyone seems to be nodding to this, so I guess it's true. "This is a perfect weapon for any Fighter that practices the art of the sword. The bidding will start at 300 gold crowns."
"Souei, do you know anything about this Ambers guy?" I ask while everyone is bidding over the sword. The price is skyrocketing, so this guy must be pretty famous.
"Yes, he lives in Staton, which is the other city in Ephia. Tobias only makes weapons based on commission, and he doesn't just make a sword for anyone." Souei explained.
"So, where did they get that sword then?" Rem asks.
"My guess is whoever put it up for auction stole it off of the person that commissioned it." I said.
"Are you going to bid, Master?" Rem asked with a tilt of her head.
"Why would I bid when everything will be mine by the end of the night?" I reply with an evil smile. I have this urge to cackle madly, but I held it back.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." She responds.
"6300 gold crowns going once, twice, sold to number 63. Please wait until after the auction to pay and collect your items." The auctioneer says.
"Is that a good price for a sword like that, Souei?" I ask.
"He paid slightly over market value, but the man is a swordsman based on his stature and battle energy. Meaning he'll most likely use the sword instead of reselling it, so the price isn't too bad." He explained.
The first block of the auction seems to be rare weapons, as nothing but weaponry has been sold so far. The last weapon sold caught my eye though. A pair of swords that that look similar to Souei's Ninjato swords appeared. The handle of the swords up for auction look more western than his though.
"These are our final weapons up for auction tonight. They are a twin pair of binding weapons. According to the seller, these swords were found in a great tomb that was being explored in another country. The swords have been tested, and indeed are binding weapons." She explains. The room is silent with shock, as such a weapon is extremely rare I guess.
"Hey, what's a binding weapon?" I ask Souei.
"It's a weapon that no one knows how to make anymore. The forging technique was lost a long time ago. Now only Royal families and some high ranking Noble families have some that are passed down. You push your magic or battle energy into the swords in this case, and they would bind to you and adopt your attribute. If you bonded to them, they would become fire swords. They also grow in strength based on the wielders rank. From what I hear, they are very powerful, but I have yet to see any in action." He explains.
"Huh, that's cool, but I'm not much of a swordsman. At least not yet. Do you want those swords, Souei?" I ask.
"I wouldn't dare, Master. Those swords belong to you like everything else in this auction." He shakes his head.
"Yeah, but those swords would make a fine replacement for your current ones." He tries to deny again, but I cut him off. "If it has to be this way then I order you to take those swords. Not now, of course. Let's wait until after the auction." I order. Ohh, I have an idea.
'System, does the shop have the forging manual for binding weapons?'
{Yes, the shop has everything that has existed up to the present from this world.}
'Show it to me.'
{Binding Forge Manual 15,000 SP: The complete manual on how to forge and create binding weapons and armor.}
Haha, my inner self laughs with manic glee. The system has armor too! When I build the Ephia Duchy Army, I can't help but imagine every soldier equipped with binding weapons and armor. They would tear through anyone and anything.
"This lot will start off at 200,000 gold crowns. Due to such a high starting bid, the minimum you can increase the bidding will be set at 10,000 gold crowns. The bidding starts now!" She exclaims, and the madness begins. The bidding just kept going up and never stopped.
"430,000"
"440,000"
"450,000"
"460,000"
The bids kept going nonstop until we finally hit the million range.
"1,000,000 gold crowns." A man's voice booms out of one of the VIP rooms, and resonates throughout the auction hall.
"Due to the huge increase in bids, the minimum increase is now set to 50,000 gold crowns." The bidding slowed down a lot compared to before. Now it's mostly the VIP members that are throwing out bids left and right.
"1,350,000"
"1,400,000"
"1,450,000"
"1,500,000"
The bids kept climbing even now, but at a less manic pace than before. I could hear VIP members cursing each other for being outbid. Feuds were being made and families were being cursed. All of this over a simple set of swords. Don't get me wrong the swords are strong, but I'd rather have a zanpakuto from the bleach, or maybe a weapon from the Fate series. I'll decide when I finally summon someone from there, and I have access to those weapons in the system store. The bidding is now down to two obscenely rich people in the VIP rooms. I don't think I've heard them speak yet, but the battle of the bids is still ongoing.
"1,850,000"
"1,950,000"
"2,000,000"
At that, the other side didn't bid again.
"2,000,000 gold crowns going once..." she calls and waits for a moment "Twice... and sold to number 7. Once again please wait until after the auction to pay and collect your items. Thank you for your patronage!" The beautiful auctioneer calls out, and you could feel the killing intent of every person in the auction hall aimed at number 7 in the VIP room.
"Auctions are fun! Maybe I'll make an official auction house in Sena." I say completely ignoring the tension in the auction hall.
