C70 Dungeon (5)

Hand over the power stones! Here is another riddle. The first correct answer will receive absolutely nothing. A simple peasant bought a number of camels and is taking them to his farm. As he rides contentedly along he counts them - he counts 29. He was sure he had bought 30 camel, so in alarm he jumps off his camel and counts the camels again. To his delight there are 30. Half an hour later, he counts his camels and once more there are just 29. Confused, he climbs off his camel and counts again. Once more there are 30. Can you explain? Enjoy the chapter.)

As I stood in wonder at the beautiful underground forest, I couldn't help but marvel at the sight before me. This is the most beautiful place I've seen since I got my memories from earth. Although, the palace is a close second. Whilst standing and admiring the view, a scream rings out from somewhere in the forest.

"You guys heard that as well, right?" I ask my servants.

"Yes, It sounded like a human." Rem says as she scans the forest.

"Let's go and see whoever that needs help. Maybe we'll find something interesting."

We enter the forest and maneuver our way through. The creams continued and we started hearing cries for help along with them. After searching for a short while, we came upon a group of four adventurers. They seemed to be fighting off a group of little supersized squirrels. The group consisted of three men and a single girl. The girl couldn't be older than thirteen of fourteen. She has white hair and cute bunny ears. I wonder if she has a little bunny tail as well, but I can't tell with her clothes in the way. The men were fighting as the girl would stand behind them and heal them whenever they were wounded.

The girl looked to be extremely fatigued. She must have been healing her party member like crazy to be in the state she's in now. The men didn't look to be in good shape either, as their clothes were in tatters and they looked exhausted. I guess she can heal her party member's wounds, but she can't fix their clothes or their exhaustion. The girl could see the impending death of her and her party, so she's been screaming for help whilst her party members buy as much time as possible.

Before I could come to their rescue, I heard the maze party members start conversing with one another.

"No one is coming. If we want to survive we'll need to distract them somehow." One of the male party members said as he took another hit from a squirrel, but he was immediately healed by the young girl.

"Yeah, but we don't have anything to distract them with." Another replied as he blocked a swing from a squirrels tail with a large shield.

"Well, we could sacrifice the girl. It's not like we've known her for long." One suggests and the others look torn on what to do.

"She's been such a help though. With her, we've been completing missions at an amazing pace. We've even increased our guild rank twice over since she's joined our party." One of the party members makes a case against killing the girl.

"I agree, but if we don't sacrifice her then we will all die. Do you want to die Arthur?" One of the men asks whilst slashing at out at the beasts.

"No, you're right. I just want it to be known that doing this puts a bad taste in my mouth. We will speak of this to no one. If anyone asks, Diana was killed by a beast and we did everything in our power to save her. We can't have anyone finding out about this." The newly named Arthur agrees.

With that, they all seem to agree on sacrificing the girl. Just listening to them talk of betraying their party member annoys me beyond measure. Especially someone as talented as... what did they say her name was again? Ohh, it was Diana, I think. Diana is the only other person I've met with the ability to heal besides Rem. Having a second servant that can heal would definitely come in handy, so I guess I'll let her party members betray her and offer her a job after saving her.

As I came to this conclusion, the three men made their move. They turned and dashed behind Diana and shoved her in the path of the coming squirrels.

"Sorry, kid. You've been a good member of our party, but this is life and death." One of them said as they all ran away as fast as they could.

"Huh?" Diana looked around in confusion.

It's clear that she has no idea what just happened. After a short couple of seconds, her new situation set in and she looked truly terrified. As the groups of squirrels loomed over her, Diana screamed one last time for help. Deciding that now was my time to interfere, I first turn to Souei.

"Find her ex-party members and kill them. Make it look like they were killed by core beasts." I order and Souei sends a clone in the direction they ran. "Nova help me make a grand entrance, please"

After giving out my orders, I appear in between Diana and the beastly oversized squirrels. Swords of fire appear in my hands and I dash forward. Fueling my body with battle energy, I appear before the closest squirrel and thrust both of them forward. The swords stab forward and hiss as they stab into the beast. One sword stabbed into its chest and the other pierced its head. The squirrel fell to the ground almost instantly, as its brain was definitely cooked.

"Hey, what's a cute bunny like you doing fighting these oversized squirrels?" I ask over my shoulder as I eye the other squirrels.

"I-I-I..." she stutters but before she could reply the other beasts pounced at me.

"This has gone on long enough." I say as I conjure a shield of fire that blocks the oncoming attacks.

After blocking the pouncing squirrels, At least thirty flaming spears appear in front of me. They immediately shoot out and lock into the beasts before me. As the spears rain down on the squirrels, they dodge for their lives. Their agility and luck don't last long as soon they are all skewered to the ground by flaming spears.

"Now that that is done and over with, how are you little bunny? Any injuries that need looking at?" I ask as my servants come to my side.

"N-n-no, I'm fine thank you for saving me... Who are you? I'm Diana, no last name." She introduces herself.

"Hello, Diana. I'm Syrin, it's nice to meet you." I say with a kind smile.
