Gimme dem power stones and I give you a riddle. A doctor and a bus driver are both in love with the same woman, an attractive girl named Sarah. The bus driver had to go on a long bus trip that would last a week. Before he left, he gave Sarah seven apples. Why? Enjoy the chapter!)
"Huh, so that's how it works." Granny said as she examines her new fire armor.
Delilah doesn't move for a moment and lay sprawled out on the arena floor. The crowd cheers in excitement for the spectacle before them. Any fighter watching this is staring at the arena with open mouths and shocked faces. The fact that these people have learned to harness magic in such a way is amazing. They are using magic to copy the powers of a fighter. Some were worried about this new situation. If mages can be taught this, then their status may rise above that of the fighters themselves. If mages can do the same thing fighters can with a little teaching, that could lower the status of all fighters.
Back in the arena, Delilah starts to stir. She rolls over and stands to her feet on shaky legs. She looked haggard and ready to pass out at any minute now.
"You truly are amazing, Amelia. *cough-cough*" Delilah says in a raspy voice and proceeds to cough up some blood. "You learned that so easily, and yet it took me so long. I have nothing left in me. You win. I conce..."
As Delilah is about to concede the match to Amelia, granny suddenly collapses onto the stone floor of the arena. The fire armor that once surrounded her flickers away leaving her completely naked. The fire must have burned her clothes to ash. This is what happens when you use a power that you haven't mastered. She may have figured out the way Delilah's new form worked, but without the prior practice, using the form seems to have backfired on granny. I appear in the arena in my usual fiery entrance. After examining Amelia and making sure she isn't dead, I took off my coat and covered her naked form.
"This match has concluded! The winner is Delilah Rothman!" I announce to the crowd.
After my announcement, the crowd's cheers were deafening. Delilah, who is still stood where she was thrown by Amelia, has a dumb look on her face. She was about to give up and admit defeat. She was ready to finally say that Amelia was better than her, but now she simply has no idea what to do. Amelia falling unconscious at that exact moment seems to have caught her completely off guard.
While Delilah's mind is going haywire, the medical staff rush into the arena. They give granny and the shocked stupid Delilah a quick check-up and cart them out of the arena for medical treatment.
'Souei!'
'Yes, master?' Souei answers from his place in my shadow.
'Have one of your clones bring Rem to heal both of them. They are the strongest people our kingdom has. besides you, of course. We can't afford to have them out of commission for too long.'
'A clone is on his way to Rem right now. They will be healed shortly.'
'Good job, Souei.'
When the crowd calmed down and the arena was clear, I addressed the crowd once again.
"This decides it! The finals of this tournament will be between Souei and Delilah Rothman. Tomorrow will be the day that we learn who is the strongest in our kingdom. I'm excited for tomorrow and I'm sure you all are as well. Now, please exit the coliseum in a calm and orderly fashion. Thanks for coming and I'll see you tomorrow." I announce and disappear in a flurry of fire.
I then appear in the medical area of the coliseum. As soon as I appear, I see a completely healed Amelia sleeping peacefully in a hospital bed. Delilah is sitting on a chair beside her bed with a sad smile on her face.
"What are you sad about? You won." I comment as the fire from my entrance dies down.
"I'm happy that I won, but what should I do now?" She asks as she watches Amelia sleep.
"What do you mean? Do what you've always done, I guess." I reply with a look of confusion.
"What I've always done is to try my hardest to beat your grandmother. For as long as I can remember, Amelia has been my rival. Weirdly, my life has revolved around her. Did you know that we used to be friends?" Delilah asks and her eyes don't leave Amelia's sleeping form.
"No, I didn't. What made you guys end your friendship?" I asked.
"Truthfully, I don't remember. It's been so long that the details have slipped my mind." Delilah replied.
"I know why." Amelia says as she opens her eyes.
"How long have you been awake?" Delilah asks with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Not long. Do you want to know why we stopped being friends?" Amelia replies as she looks up at the ceiling.
"Sure, tell me." Delilah replies after some thought.
"It was over a boy. What's funny is neither of us ended up with him in the end. He's long dead by now." Amelia says.
"Oh, I think I remember a bit. He would train like crazy, so we upped our training as well. I guess we thought that it would draw his attention." Delilah starts to remember.
"Yes, do you remember why we couldn't get him to take notice of us?" Amelia asks.
"No, do you?" Delilah replies.
"Oh, let me guess!" I say and raise my hand as if I'm in school.
"Ok Syrin, give me your best guess." Granny points to me as a teacher would call on a student.
"Was he gay?" I ask with a joking smile.
As I voiced my thought, Delilah was taking a sip of her tea. She then proceeded to spit out her drink all over Amelia.
"*cough* I highly doubt that is why!" Delilah exclaims. "Right?" She then stared at Amelia for answers.
"Syrin is right. How did you know?" Amelia asks me as she wipes herself off and glares at Delilah.
"Huh? I was right? I was just joking."
