The cat stayed low to the ground, slinking through the underbrush. It was imperative that she stay undetected. Horrible creatures roamed this land, and yet they were all ruled over by a single person.
It was midday, so she knew exactly where he would be. She held back a snarl. Several generations had taken care of this 'kingdom', if you could call it that. Spanning across hundreds of years, an heir would take over the mantle of taming and befriending the creatures of night, and there was that mutt that would help too, she hated the lot of them.
Such powerful creatures lived here, and yet their powers were to be used sparingly, if at all. Not to conquer enemies, but to be friends.
She continued through the forest, careful to not awaken anything. She could smell them now, there were the only humans in this realm. She could smell two, a man and a child.
A small clearing came into view. There were the man and child. The man was instructing them about how to care for a certain creature.
They were vulnerable. She sensed this, and struck.
The Kingdom of Id has fallen.
