Percy's POV
"You really did it this time, Kelp-Head!" Thalia yelled at Percy through the noise. Percy looked at her cousin weirdly like she had grown a second head.
"Seriously? How is this MY FAULT?!" she asked incredulously.
"Every time we encountered a monster, it's usually because they smelled YOUR scent!"
"You're a child of the big three TOO!"
"I'm a hunter of Artemis! My scent is not as strong as yours!"
"I didn't ask to have a strong scent! You think I wanted that?!"
"Well, SUCKS TO BE YOU!"
Nightwing scrambled over and ducked down beside Percy, "Ladies, can we please fight now and save the good-old reunion later?!"
"FINE!"
Five hours earlier...
"So, what is the new mission?" Percy asked as she jogged over to the center of the mission room where the team was and stood beside Nightwing. Wonder Woman nodded her greetings at the sight of the younger demigod in which Percy returned it.
"There have been multiple sightings of Bane all around the US. But recently he is most active in New York. I need you all to track him down and find out what he is up to. Do not expose yourself unless the situation is absolutely necessary." Batman said as he skillfully typed on the holographic screen.
"Which is basically every time," Percy mumbled under her breath. Nightwing snicked.
"Remember to maintain radio silence at all times, we suspect that Bane is in league with multiple helpers so stay on high alert and watch each others' backs. You are expected to depart for New York in exactly one hour. Dismissed."
Percy got dressed quickly. She pulled up the hood of her suit and reached for her mask on the desk, but a picture of the crews of the Argo II grabbed her attention. Looking at her six smiling friends and her past happy self made Percy's heartache. She studied herself against the desk and took a deep breath. The memory of her friends almost made the curse act up again. I need to learn to control it, Percy thought, or else one day it will kill me.
"You okay, Princess?" A voice asked from her doorway. Percy glanced up to see her caring boyfriend. She tried for a smile.
"I'm fine, Dick." She answered, "I'm just remembering something from the past..." Dick nodded in understanding, walking over he pulled Percy into a comforting hug.
"You are not alone anymore, I will always be here." Percy hugged back and allowed a silent tear to roll down her cheek.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, but we really need to get moving now, we have a mission to complete."
Percy laughed and grabbed her mask and shoved it on her face. "Yeah, and we don't want THE Bat to give us the stink eye if we are late."
...
'Any sight of our target?' Kaldur asked in Percy's head.
'Nope'
'None'
'We got nothing' Her teammates answered.
'This is going to be a boring night.' Percy huffed from her position on a rooftop, already bored.
'I second that!' KF said in agreement.
Then a movement below caught Percy's demigod eyes. At first, Percy thought she was hallucinating, but a closer look confirmed her guesses. She had found Bane.
'Apparently, I spoke too soon.' She concluded with her teammates, Pointing out the villain to the Team.
'Follow him, stay hidden.' Nightwing commanded.
They followed the massive shape all the way across Manhattan to an old rundown warehouse. Typical villain hid-out. But why would Bane be in Manhattan of all places?
'Should we check out that rundown building?' Megan wondered. 'It looks like Bane has something to do with it..."
'Yeah, it would be best. It won't hurt, right?'
Turns out, it did hurt.
Two seconds into their break-in, they were ambushed. Bane was expecting them.
"Welcome, heroes. You are just in time for the party." Bane growled as he and his men pointed their guns at the Team. Percy's hand went straight to her belt for her daggers. Bane moved his barrow and pointed it straight at the moving figure.
"Ah Ah Ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you, young hero." Bane said with an evil smile. "You see, these bullets are special. I heard from a...special friend of mine that these babies," he patted his gun, "kill demigods like you..."
Percy's body stiffened and her blood ran cold. How did he know?...
Bane laughed at her expression. "And that is not all, I got another special surprise for you, my friend was kind enough to lend me his helpers and I would love you all to meet them." Out from behind Bane, a dozen Greek monsters stepped out from the shadows. What have I done to anger those three hags? Why do they hate me so much?! I didn't steal their stupid yarn now, did I?
"Run!" Percy yelled to her teammates as she reached into her belt pocket and pulled out Riptide the pen.
"A boring night huh?" Nightwing teased, but his expression was grim.
"Shut up." This is going to be a long night...
Dick's POV
Nightwing hated when he was useless. Especially now as they face down mythical creatures none of them can kill, except for Riptide. But how can one single girl face down a dozen monsters at the same time? And to make the matter worse, Bane and his men are on their tail!
'Lead them outside, it's too crowded in the warehouse to fight.' Percy's voice rings in his head.
Conner acts fast and charged towards one of the monsters that look like a huge black dog. He slams into it and pushes it towards the metal wall of the warehouse, making a huge hole in the wall.
Percy ran after Superboy and the giant dog with her blade-riptide draw.
Bane's men open fire at them and Nightwing is forced into battle-mode. He brings out a wing-ding and throws it at the nearest goon. It exploded right at his feet creating a screen of smoke.
Time for the bird to act.
...
Some time into the fight, they had come to a silent agreement that Percy would deal with the monsters and the team against the goons. They are doing pretty fine, but Percy seems to be having a bit of trouble. Those monsters looked trained, very-well trained. And they also seem to have a faint red glow around them. Do monsters always glow? There are so many unanswered questions.
Nightwing had just finished dealing with one goon when he turned around to see a blade raised above Percy's head as the young demigoddess had her back turned.
"Riptide LOOK OUT!" he yelled.
Time seemed to slow as Percy turned and her eyes widened at the incoming blade. Nightwing couldn't get to her fast enough but-
Shing, thuck.
A silver arrow sprouted from the monster's head and the weird donkey-legged woman fell down with a look of surprise on her face.
"Still as careless as ever, I see. Sea-weed Brain." A girl about fifteen-years-old stepped forward, a silver bow in hand. She had spiky black hair and electric-blue eyes, her clothes were silvery-white and she had a silver circle on her forehead, like a princess tiara.
Percy's eyes widened in recognition when she saw the girl.
"Thalia?"
