Chapter Eighteen

Elisa's Point Of View

"Take me with you!" I whined, holding onto Lyla's leg. "I wanna go on a walk!"

Lyla looked down at me and smiled softly. "Lis, do you wanna go on a walk with me?" She picked me up.

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

Lyla giggled. "I'm taking that as a yes. I'm only taking you because you've been a good cat." She hugged me.

I purred, and closed my eyes, smiling.

"Lissie, are you leaving?" Jameson whimpered from on the ground.

"I'm not leaving, I'm just going on a little walk with Lyla. I'll be back in like an hour." I saw Jameson's ears drop as Lyla set me down to go get her shoes. "Aish, don't be sad. You're other friends will be here with you. Nick and Ben will play with you. Maybe even Sammi." I smiled and nudged the kid slightly.

"Sammi will?" Jameson perked up upon hearing the girl he looks up to.

"Yep, I'll go get her."

I ran up the stairs into Lyla's room and jumped onto the bed, my collar's bell ringing with each step.

"Sammi." I nudged the sleeping cat.

"Screw off Elisa." Sammi rolled over, grunting softly.

"Hey, I'm leaving with Lyla to go on a walk. I told Jameson you would play with him." I sat down and stared at Sammi.

"So?" Sammi grumbled, still not sitting up.

"Sam, he looks up to you. You have to play with. Please? I'll only be gone for a little bit. I promise." I begged, looking down at my paws.

Sammi stayed quiet. "He looks up to me?" She whispered, turning her head towards me slightly.

I nodded, then realized she couldn't see me. "Yes. You're like his hero."

Sammi paused once again and then stretched and stood up. "Well, where's the kid at?" She looked at me.

I smiled.

——

I snuggled into Lyla's arms. She's carrying me as we walked around the city.

Man, there's a lot of people here. I saw some of them give Lyla some weird looks. I think it's because of me. I guess people don't usually take cats on walks.

"Let's go this way." Lyla began to turn down a much less crowded street.

I began to pay attention to the surroundings a little bit more. They were slowly turning worse by each step we went.

"There's a shortcut over here." Lyla turned into a dark alley.

"Lyla, I don't think this is a good idea." I sat up a little in her arms.

But she continued like nothing was bothering her.

Yeah, that didn't last long.

Lyla's arm flew apart and I fell to the ground with Lyla's scream in the background.

I whipped around and face Lyla. She was held by her hair by a man surrounded by two others.

Oh no.

Lyla's Point Of View

Sensitive Scenes -

I'm slammed against a brick wall, the guys trying to take my jacket off as they dragged their hands across my body.

Where's Elisa? She fell from my arms. Please be okay.

Tears fell from my face as I tried to scream through the gag they shoved into my mouth. I tried to shove them away from me, but they are too strong.

Roughly, one of them put his body right against mine, held my wrists above my head and hugged my waist with his other. The man roughly yanked my head to one side. He hungrily moved my hair away from my exposed neck and started to suck on it. Kissing it. I cried even more. He moved his hips against me. His friends laughed from somewhere behind him.

Finally I did something. I kneed him in the groin.

He stopped and doubled over in pain, falling to the ground. His friends looked at me, furious.

Advancing on me, one of them took my head into their hands and slammed it against the brick wall. They let go of me and watched me fall to the ground.

I felt blood trickle down the side of my face. I'm barely conscious. Am I going to die?

My vision blurred each time I moved.

Just as one of them raised his foot to kick me, a mysterious girl kicked his other leg out from underneath him. The mysterious girl stood in front of me protectively.

"That's it." The guys swore.

All three of them charged the one protecting me.

I thought she was a goner for sure, but she moved at the speed of light, dodging and hitting everything perfectly. I noticed something weird though. Each movement the mysterious girl makes, a little bell jingles from somewhere.

Then the three men were on the ground, out cold.

I felt myself drifting off as well. My savior turned around to face me and dropped to my side, pulling me into her arms.

I could barely see through the blurry visions in my sight though, but she was beautiful.

"You're gonna be okay." She reassured me in a gently voice.

I blacked out.

Elisa's Point Of View

"Oh shit Lyla. Stay with me." I moved her hair from out of her face. "Damnit." I cursed as I picked her up in my arms. "The hospital." I whispered and began to run to where we came from. I remember seeing a sign that pointed to a hospital.

"I need help!" I shouted as I ran inside, holding Lyla's limp body tightly to myself.

Nurses rushed towards me.

"What happened?" One of them asked me as they peered down at Lyla worriedly.

They began to lead me through a pair of swinging doors.

"Her head was hit really hard." I set her down softly on a bed and saw all of the blood surrounding her head.

"Miss I need you to come with me." A nurse tugged at my arm gently, speaking with a gentle voice.

I bit my lip and stared at Lyla for one more moment, then I followed the nurse.

"Can I call someone?" I asked her after she closed the door behind us.

She nodded and led me to the phone.

I dialed Dylan's number.

"Hey, you need to come to the hospital. It's Lyla" Then I hung up.

That should do.
