Chapter 18: A Crash Course In Dragon Slaying

"...na. Ha… na… Hana! Thank goodness you're awake!" Yuri's voice said as I came to.

"Huh? What… happened?" I asked groggily.

"The Kasai Army captured us. We're to be executed soon."

"Is everyone alright? Is anyone still out there?"

"Everyone is fine, but unfortunately, nobody managed to get away. At least we'll die together."

"We aren't dying, Bubblehead! We'll kill Kasai before he can kill us!" Mari proclaimed. "I have a plan."

. . .

"Everyone understand? It's simple!" Mari exclaimed, confident in her plan.

I sighed. Sure, it sounded simple, but it would be tough to even get the chance to do it.

"It'ssssss time for your executionssssss. Don't try anything funny," a dragon guard said as he came to get us.

We did as we were told and didn't try to resist. The guard hooked all our shackles up and led us outside. Soon, we stood before Kasai.

"Welcome back, weaklingsssss! Are you ready to pay for what you have done to my loyal sssssssubjectssssssss?" Kasai growled.

"Please, don't kill us, O Great and Powerful One! Have mercy on our poor souls! We do not know any better! We need someone strong like you to lead us! Is there any other way we can atone for our sins?" I begged, acting pitiful.

Bleh! I can't believe Mari convinced me to say this nonsense! This better not be for nothing!

Kasai looked away, not impressed.

"Ssssssstop the act! You're not going to ssssssssway me!" he bellowed.

"But, Great and Powerful One, you are who we've been looking for! Without you, we are lost! We need your guidance!" I groveled, crying.

Again, bleh! Good thing I can cry on command. Though I may have been crying from embarrassment.

The others joined in. Some cried while others begged Kasai for mercy.

"Alright! I believe you! Guardsssss, releassssse their chainsssss!" the red dragon growled to his guards. "If you even think about betraying me, you will be dead before you know what hit you," he said to us.

We nodded solemnly. Once we were released, we ran over to Kasai and hugged him. Everyone said a variation of "Thank you, Great and Powerful One! We will follow you to the ends of the universe!"

"Ladiesssssss! Calm down! There'ssssss enough of me to go around!" Kasai chuckled, somewhat nervously.

What a creep! This whole thing is seriously disgusting!

Mari blinked twice in rapid succession. The signal. All at once, we climbed up to where she was. To avoid suspicion, we said more gross sentiments.

"I found his weak point. This area between his wings is where his scales aren't fully hardened. Everybody, aim your attacks at this spot!" Mari whispered to us.

The girls nodded and released a barrage of attacks at the spot Mari found. Pretty quickly, the attacks went straight through Kasai's body.

"RRAAARH! YOU TRICKED ME! NOW DIE!" Kasai bellowed.

"Not today!" Mari replied as she climbed into the hole.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! GET OUT OF THERE!"

Suddenly, Kasai howled in agony and promptly fell limp.

"I… couldn't… ssssave… Kazan… I… have.... failed…" he whispered weakly before he passed.
