First Sights

"My dream is to be a doctor!" a guy confesses.

"I want to be a lawyer!" a girl says.

"I want to be a writer!" someone adds.

Their classmates have been telling the class what their dreams are.

"Well... their dreams are fancy..." Caleb whispers to Joanne.

"Yeah... I suddenly feel small..." Kai also complains quietly.

They just breathe in and out to control their nervousness. It's not that they're afraid to speak in front of the class. It's just that they're afraid that their dreams are nothing compared with the rest of the class.

It's Joanne's turn to tell hers. She takes a deep breath and stands up confidently.

"My dream is... to get into a prestigious college and seek knowledge," she says while smiling calmly.

Awkward stares start to appear after hearing Joanne's words. Compared with the previous ones, they might find Joanne's dream to be peculiar.

Kai closes his eyes and braces himself.

"My dream is to be useful and help others. I want to be the reason people smile," he says while smiling sincerely.

His confession brings out more confusion in people's eyes. Just like Joanne's, Kai's dream is to be found weird and unfamiliar.

Now, it's Caleb's turn to be brave.

"My dream is..." he hesitates for a second and continues, "to find happiness. I want to have a happy life..."

Gasps can be heard after Caleb tells his dream. Scoffs and giggles are also added. Among the others, Caleb's dream is found to the most unfit and strange.

Whispers start to appear after that.

"Isn't that obvious?"

"Dude, everybody wants that,"

"He should've chosen a bigger one,"

"That ain't a dream!"

"Tch... boring..."

Rrriingggg, the bell rings and their class for today has come to an end. Caleb, Joanne, and Kai was about to leave the classroom until their teacher calls them.

"Hey, the three of you. Come here," he says while smiling calmly.

"What's the matter, Sir?" Joanne asks him cautiously.

Mr. Brown stares at each of them while smiling proudly.

"I think... your dreams are beautiful. Don't mind the others," he comforts them with a warm smile displayed on his face.

They start to look at each other while hiding their smiles as hard as possible. Their teacher's words are like rain poured after a drought. After facing reactions toward their dreams and wishes, some nice and warm words are what they need right now.

They all smile at each other and say thank you to Mr. Brown for comforting them.

-Night, basketball court-

The basketball, football, and cheer team are gathering at their welcoming party. It's a party where they officially meet each other as a sporting family.

It's also a time where some people struggle not to hook up with others.

"You guys are here too!" Beca shouts while hugging Caleb cheerfully.

"Hey, you came!" Kai shouts in delight while rubbing Beca's head softly.

"It's such a shame that Val and Joanne can't go here..." Felix says while pouting.

"Hey, don't get sulky! I'm sure they're doing fine!" Beca cheers Felix.

"Oh, so who is this?" the basketball captain asks them about Beca.

"Oh, this is my twin sister, Beca!" Caleb introduces her to one of the basketball members.

"Well, nice to meet you, Beca! Oh, this is Nicholas," the captain says with excitement.

The guy beside the captain, Nicholas, smiles at her sweetly and greets, "Hey..."

At that moment, Beca feels electricity shocks her body a little. She feels ticklish from his sweet voice and smile.

She feels it and she's not alone.

From the moment she came and entered the chat, Nicholas has been having eyes set on her. Her sparkling eyes are reflected in his eyes. He is dazzled, stunned, and starstruck. The way Beca smiles, moves, and talks are making his heart beat.

Beca who's been talking with the others is trying to take a peek on Nicholas cautiously. When she looks at the corner of her eyes, she can see that Nicholas suddenly looks away.

She can see it.

She can see that something is going on there. Her heart throbs faster and butterflies are partying down her stomach which makes her hard to control her expression.

The exciting and unfamiliar feelings are making her want the thing that is highly forbidden there.

Yes.

Dating the other team members.

Beca sits on the bench alone.

Just like she imagines it, Nicholas walks toward her while holding two drinks in his hands. He smiles and says, "want some punch?"

Beca blushes and says, "Yes, please..."

She is struggling so hard to hide her heartbeat that is drumming so hard right now. It's hard for her not to smile at the moment.

Nicholas is the same. He tries hard not to look at her because he might want to get closer to her way further if he did that.

"So, you're a freshman right?" Nicholas strikes a conversation nervously.

"Y-yeah... and you're...?" Beca asks her while bracing herself to look at him.

He looks back at her and says, "Junior..."

Beca just nods while still trying to not smile too wide from seeing the twinkles in his eyes.

Nicholas, who was sitting inches away from her, suddenly moves closer to her. Beca's heart beats faster than it has before. She blushes.

She looks away after looking at him for a second and asks while chuckling, "W-what?'

"You're really pretty..." Nicholas says while looking deeply into her eyes.

The moment he realizes what he just said, he startles and says "Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to sound like a pervert..."

Beca looks at him and bursts out to laugh.

"Tch-Hahahaha! You are funny, huh?" Beca jokes after getting more comfortable with him.

They just look at each other while trying to hide their heartthrobs.

Some people start to stare at them with disbelieving and judgmental expressions.

"Hey... you wanna go... somewhere quieter?" Nicholas asks her after noticing that.

"Really?... s-sure!" Beca, who's doesn't notice, answers nervously.

They both walk out of the basketball court through the door. Kai who notices them pokes at Caleb and says, "You saw them? Will she be okay?"

Caleb's eyes are suddenly on her twin sister. His eyes are piercing at the view for a second. He looks away and says, "She'll know who to call if something happens,"

-Bleachers-

"Really? The bleachers?" Beca asks Nicholas while smiling brightly.

"Hey... it's open at night," he answers while chuckling for a bit.

They sit side by side on the bleachers under the bright moonlight that washes over them. The stars are aligned and brighter than ever.

They are alone now. Nobody can give them cold and disgusted eyes here. Nobody can say that they're not supposed to be together.

They talk to each other with butterflies in their stomachs. They both struggle so hard to hide their hearts that beat so fast. They sometimes take a peek on each other to see each others' eyes. They tease around and the mood just gets better for them.

Without they realize it, their faces are just inches away.

He looks at her glittery eyes at first and starts to stare at her lips for a second. He moves closer and they can feel each others' breath. Beca stares at his beautiful eyes for a moment. Then, she closes her eyes. But not long until his lips can reach hers, she pulls away.

She moves inches away from him and shakes her head as if she made a mistake.

"What? What's the problem?" Nicholas asks worriedly.

"I can't, we can't! This is not supposed to happen! Nicholas, this is banned! We are banned!" she answers with sorrow and doubt in her eyes.

"But, who are we kidding, Beca? We're attracted to each other, right?" he asks while holding her hands.

She lets him hold her hands for a second so that she can feel the warmth that he gives just for a bit. Then she pulls her hands away and says, "No! it hasn't even been a month since I became a cheerleader! I can't just give that up!" she cries with despair in her tone.

"But this feeling! You can't just catch this feeling easily, right? You feel it too... I want you and you want me. I can feel it, Beca..." he begs her to stay.

She looks away with frustration in her breath.

"Why don't we do this... secretly then? Maybe we'll find a way to change the rules, Beca... Don't you think it's worth the try?" Nicholas asks with hope in his tone.

Beca looks deeply into his eyes with doubts. He moves closer to her again. She can smell his scent clearly that it tickles her. She knows that he's right. She wants him. She has liked him from the first time she saw him.

"Secret?" Nicholas says sweetly to her while doing the pinky promise gesture.

She smiles at him for a second. She moves closer to him and holds the promise gesture with him. "Secret," she whispers with sparkles in her eyes.

At that moment, they become convinced that it's okay to let their feelings control them for a minute.

It's not that they're not afraid of the consequences of being kicked out of the team, but because it's not easy to catch those feelings.

It's not easy to look at someone at the first sight and feels the electricity and butterflies tickling you right away, at least for them.

For Beca who believes in and in the seek of finding true love, it's just the moment that she cannot afford to pass.

For a moment, she thinks that Nicholas can be her destiny. It may be cliche and naive, but it is real for her.

-Basketball Court-

"Hey... you see that girl at 2 o'clock?" Caleb asks Kai with flirty eyes.

"Oh, come on..." Kai complains.

"Hey... she's cute! If you still don't wanna fool around with girls, I'm makin' a move!" Caleb complains to Kai that is, in Caleb's opinion, too loyal on someone.

"Well, go get him, tiger!" Felix encourages him.

Kai just stares at Felix flatly to express his discouragement about the idea of hooking up around.

"Dude, we ain't suppose to fool around with the cheerleaders," Kai tries to stop Caleb.

Caleb just shrugs it off and says, "Oh come on! You know me, just like Val, we're rebels! A bunch of rules ain't stoppin' us, baby!" he says confidently while walking toward the girl that he talked about.

Kai shakes his head with a disagreeing and disbelieving face while Felix just giggles to see the drama that is about to happen.

"Oh, it's like I can know the ending already! He's gonna flirt, make out with her, leave her hanging, and break her heart," Kai complains and rolls his eyes.

Felix just laughs and says, "Well, she's gonna get hurt or, worse, make the both of them get kicked out of each team! Felix shouts delightfully while imagining it.

Kai squinches his eyes at Felix.

"Oh, just wait until I leave you alone here, Felix..." Kai says with a pair of eyes that are about to do some pranks.

Felix shudders and says, "don't you dare, Jenkins..." while shaking his head.

Kai just chuckles and says, "Well, listen up Felix.... I'm about to do the scenes from How I Met Your Mother," while squinching his eyes to make an exaggerating expression.

He walks to a girl beside him and asks, "Hi, have you met Felix?" while smiling brightly. He then looks at Felix with a sarcastic smile.

Felix just stares at him with a face shouting, "Oh, I'm gonna kill you after this, Jenkins..."

Then they start doing some telepathic stuff to express their thoughts without making the girl hear them.

"Oh, come and get me after you talk to this girl, Felix... Kai's face says proudly.

Kai leaves Felix alone and sits at the bench alone.

It seems that the universe is not on Felix's side tonight because the girl is actually the one that he met previously.

The girl that was friendly to him, but he pushed away from.

When Kai asked if she met Felix, she looked at Felix for a moment and smiled sweetly to him.

"Well, we've met..." she says while smiling to him.

Felix stands awkwardly for a second and starts to chuckle nervously. He feels guilty to her.

He should have treated her better at their first meeting, but he was too anxious to do that.

After seeing her smile again, he realizes that he wants to do better. He wants to meet new people. He wants to learn to open himself more.

"So, are you going to talk to me now?" she asks while looking at his eyes.
