Testing and Diseases - Chapter Five

Autumn's Perspective:

I feel myself rocking back and forth with something held over my mouth, I feel it getting hard to breathe as I slip in and out of consciousness. I suddenly wake up to bright lights and a bunch of doctors hovering over me.

I think I'm being rushed to E.R. but everything is in slow-motion. I see the doctor trying to calm me down as the nurses push me through these big doors. I am laid on my back as they put a mask over my nose. I slowly breathe in the gas and start to fade off.

It's not even a minute until the darkness takes over my mind.

I start to stir and feel a sudden pain in my leg when I try to turn I jolt up and see my leg in a cast, I wince in pain as I lay back comfortable position.

"Ahh, you've finally awoken Ms. Karev," the doctor says to me with a smile as she walks into my room, a nurse comes in and hands the doctor a clipboard. His smile slowly fades off and is replaced with concern. "Okay thank you Nurse Gloria," he says to her with a gentle smile, she leaves and he looks at me.

"Hello Autumn, my name is Doctor Jensin. I will be your doctor from now on," Dr. Jensin explains. "We were successful with fixing your leg but you'll need to heal properly which will take two months at the most. However, we have found something else. You have Coronary Artery Disease or CAD." he tells me.

"Huh?" I reply dumbfound.

"You have Cholesterol plaque in your arteries which narrow you artery and stop blood and oxygen flow." he explains in English. "Have you recently had shortness of breath or any chest pain?" Dr. Jensin ask me.

"Sometimes after workouts or games I get some chest pain," I explain to him remembering that I would get chest pain after my soccer games. "I thought I was just going through puberty again," I try to reason with him.

"Interesting, okay well I can give you pain relievers to help with it and I want you to take it easy from now, but you will have to stop playing sports for a while unfortunately, until we figure out how to unclog your arteries," Dr. Jensin tells me.

"Okay Doc I'll take it easy. But do I really have to stop playing?" I whined trying to reason with this man.

"Yes otherwise it's going t get worse and you'll be wheeled in here again for life support," he says to me.

"Okay! Okay!" I yelled scared for the worst.

"I will see you later get some rest okay Ms. Karev?" he commands me more than ask.

"Yeah okay." I say not wanting to talk anymore.

-10 minutes later-

I'm staring out the window when I hear a knock on the door. I stay quiet waiting for them to come in. As the door opens I hear a voice I relax too.

"Hey Princess, how ya feeling?" Blake comes in and sits on the bed with me. I scoot over a little bit so he could lay down.

"Hi," I smile at him.

"I'm so sorry for what happened," Blake apologizes to me. "If I'd known that was gonna happen I wouldn't have taken you there for your fun day," he continues.

"Blake I'm fine honestly, it's okay there is no way you could have known that something's wrong with me. If anything it's my fault," I try to reason with him, he gives up and sighs. We look over at the T.V. in the corner of the ceiling.

"Let's see what's on," Blake whispers. He reaches over me and I take a chance and smell him.

"Ew have you showered?" I scrunch my nose looking at him. He chuckles and flips through channels.

"Shut up and come here," he pulls me to his chest. We get comfortable watching SpongeBob. I start to get tired so I doze off into complete darkness, but not before I feel Blake's lips on my forehead softly and whispers, "Goodnight my Princess," I give into the darkness with a smile on my lips.
