Light in the darkness - Part 2

All those prayers, all those hopes—granted with a simple smile.

It was a smile that came to me on the first night I broke free from my chains, a smile that warmed the cold in my heart. It was a smile as captivating as the morning sun and as enchanting as a witch's spell.

Above all, it was a smile that promised to stay with me for the rest of my time.

I hastily woke from my sleep, forgetting all the soreness and fatigue when I finally saw the red in his eyes again for the first time in what seemed like a very long time. For a fleeting moment, the dark in his red eyes glinted so very lightly, shining a brighter red.

"My little rabbit," he said, his voice hoarse, almost unrecognizable. Yet it was the same voice that I woke up to every morning, a voice that called my name with so much love and adoration in each letter and word.
