Chapter Fifteen~ The Meeting

Alex is coming to see my dad this evening, and I am really nervous. Last week after Saras birthday, I told Dad that I like him. I am a little nervous about them meeting officially. Dad doesn't know grown up Alex that well because he moved away for a few years, so I hope everything goes well.*Fingers crossed*

1 hour later

My phone screen lights up with a ding, signifying that a text came in. I look at the screen and see its Alex. I open my inbox, clicking on his name.

Alex- I will see you in an hour!

Me- Sure.

Alex- You nervous?

Me- A little,

Alex- Hehe. . .! Shouldn't I be the one to get nervous?

Me- Are you?

Alex- Not really! I have met him before, although this will be the first as your boyfriend.

Me- Yeah, good luck!

Alex- Relax! We will have a nice and peaceful dinner, don't worry.

Me- Ok. I will see you soon. LY!

Alex- Love you too!

I should get the table ready and see what dad is up to. I head to the lounge.

"Hey dad!" I say poking my head into the room

"Hi honey" he smiles looking up from the work he brought home.

"Can I ask you something?" I say walking towards a cushion

"Yes"

"Why do you want to meet Alex so soon?" I ask nervous, sitting on the chair.

"Soon? Aren't you two dating already?" He asks with a brow raised and an amused face

I lower my eyes,"Umm. . . Yes, I mean. Ahem! I am just a bit NERVOUS. He is a nice guy dad. . . Can you please not go hard on him?" I plead looking up

"I will not if he doesn't give me any reason to! I know Ellis from a long time because you and Sara have been best friends, so I only expect that he has raised his son well" he says. Ellis is Saras and Alexs dad.

"Hmm, you are right." I say standing and leaving the room.

Half hour later

*Doorbell rings*

"Hey!" I say once I open the door

"Hi beautiful!" He smiles. He's wearing a blue jean jacket with sleeves folded to his elbow, a black Jean trouser and a black sneaker.

"Come on in" I move aside

"Thanks!" He says stepping in and I shut the door. I lead him to the lounge where dad is already sitting.

"Dad, Alex is here" I say once we enter taking a seat.

"Welcome" dad says putting down the paper he was reading

"Hi uncle, How are you?" Alex says smiling sitting opposite my dad

"I am very well. How about you?" Dad replies smiling back

"I am doing good, thanks"

"I will get you something to drink" I say walking out of the room

Alex's POV

I watch as she leaves the room, giving I and her father time to talk. I glance over at him, apart from the hairs on his head, which are partly white and chestnut, and his moustache and beard, he still looks pretty good for a middle aged man.

"You do know why I called you here tonight, right?" Her dad asks the smile earlier on his face gone.

"Yes" I reply

"I need to know your intentions with my daughter." He says looking me in the eyes, "I will not tolerate anything remotely 'unfair', I cannot let anyone hurt her EVER!" He says

"I understand sir. Kara is a great girl and I would NEVER do anything to hurt her. . . We practically grew up together and my family also loves her dearly"

"Hmm" he nods

"Don't worry sir, I care for her too much to ever hurt her" I say reassuringly

We both fall into a smooth conversation after a while.

"Dad?" Kara calls stepping into the room

"Yes sweety!"

"Dinner is here, shall I set the table?" She asks

"Yes, go ahead." He says. We all leave and head to the dining room for dinner.

"Food is delicious" I compliment. We are all seated at the dining table in the dining room.

"But it's still not homemade"  her dad replies before she could

"Dad!" She groans and I chuckle

He laughs, "I am just telling the truth to him" he grins

"He knows I didn't cook today." She says frowning

"So Alex," he looks at me, "how long have you guys been dating?" He asks

"Ahem!" Kara coughs loudly

"Just a couple of weeks" I reply all the same

"Hmm, and what about your work? I met your dad, he told me you're helping him" he commented

"Yes, I am assisting in his business for now"

"Do you have any other plans of your own?" He asks curiously

"Yes! I have a plan to open a restaurant in our city which will take a year or so. Dad has made a proposition that if I work with him for a whole year, he would invest 50 percent in my start up. The rest, I have to earn by working side by side with him." I explain

"Hmm, sounds fine. Good luck son!" He says with a smile

"Thank you!" I reply

*Kara's POV*

I am happy the way things went between my dad and Alex, it looks like any doubt my dad had are gone.

"Feeling relaxed now?" Alex asks amused. We are done with dinner, my dad went back to the lounge, while I and Alex are in my room.

I let out a sigh, "Everything went well"

"Yes! I felt a little intimidated by him though" he says

"Were you scared?" I ask

"Meeting your father was an important thing to me, so I couldn't risk doing anything to screw that up" he smiles

"What did you say to him?" I ask intrigued

"Honestly, I wasn't scared. I admire him, and he has every right to make sure his daughter is dating the right guy" he says totally ignoring my question.

"You're lucky you're Saras brother, if it would have been someone else, be might have not gone easy" I grin

"Huh?" He wraps his arms around my waist. "So now I'm only likeable because of sara, hm?" He questions

"Umm. . . Yeah. I mean Saras my BFF and your her brother plus dad really considers Sara like his own" I say leaning into him.

"Hmm okay!" He starts tickling me and I burst into fits if laughter while failing miserably to get out of his embrace.

"NO! PLEASE STOP. ." I drop to the ground still laughing

"NOPE, you said I'm not likeable" he said continuing his assault

"NO,NO, YOU ARE. . . YES, YOU ARE VERY MUCH LIKEABLE" I scream still being tickled tears rolling from my eyes.

"Then take it back?"

"Okay, okay, I take it back, please stop!" I wheeze

"Okay, hands-off!" He lifts his hands in mock surrender

"Gosh! I need to breathe!" I heave panting heavily

"You better stop messing with me babe" he laughs

I scowl, "I HATE YOU!"

"No you DON'T. You just said in very likeable" he smirks

"I lied" I said frowning folding my arms

"Absolutely not!" He winks at me with a mischievous grin. I spotted a jug of water on my nightstand but before I could grab it to throw on him, he ran.

I chased him till we enter the kitchen.

"No, No! I know what you're going to do." He says running around the counter

"STOP! You deserve it." I say trying to get him at a point.

"Look Kara, you know how much I hate getting wet" he argues

"Ironic! Given that we met at a 'POOL PARTY'" I roll my eyes

"Hey that's different, nobody likes getting wet fully clothed. And--" Before he could finish his sentence I threw the jug at his shirt, laughing maniacally

"Brouhaha. . ."

"What!" He looks down at his wet shirt.

"You started it." I say

"You're right! Then I should be the one to finish it, no?" He grins widely moving towards me.
