Chapter Eighteen— Farewell party

I woke up early in the morning and came to the nearby park for jogging. The weather was pleasant with a little sunlight. It's been many days, since I caught up with Sara, so we both decided to meet up early today.

"Although I'm enjoying myself, I hope she won't keep me waiting too long." I say taking a seat on a park bench. Suddenly a cool breeze touched my cheek and I instantly felt refreshed.

What could be better than sticking to your old morning routine? With the breeze in your hair, your increased heart rate with each step you Jog. Nothing beats this!

I was busy thinking to myself when Sara jumped out of nowhere and I screamed like a baby.

"Relax, relax! It's me" she said laughing

"Oh gosh! You scared the hell out of me" I reply, trying to calm my beating heart.

She chuckles. "Just wanted to scare you a little" she says

"I am going to get you for that." I say frowning, then I kick her with my foot.

"Ouch!" She cries, rubbing the spot lightly. I grin then say cheekily, "Now you won't mess with me next time"

"Don't tempt me, I will take my revenge." She looked wistful

I laugh. "Good girl. Now tell me what was so important?" I say taking a seat on a bench. She sits besides me.

"I need to ask you about the college farewell party"

"Wow! When?" I ask

"Jeez! Don't tell me you don't know?" She groans, rolling her eyes

"Uh! I have no idea." I shrug

"Oh girl! Why don't you ever know what going on around you" she whines

"What are you for!" I exclaim

"Didn't you check your email?" She asks

"No, I haven't had the chance yet to check any mails"

"Uh huh!" She grins widely. "I see you are completely lost in Alex these days."

"Huh, really?" I drawl, "And what about you?" I ask with raised brows.

She giggles, her cheeks turning red. "It's not the same" she replies, to which I roll my eyes.

"Anyways, when is the farewell party?" I ask

"In two day." She replies

"What!" I exclaim shocked. "That means we have very little time to get ready!" I add

"Certainly!"

"It's better to rush then"

She chuckles, "now you're active"

I laugh, "got to go now" I say standing up. I hug her, "see you!"

"See ya!"

Half hour later

I was excited about the farewell party so I hastily came home. Alex is sleeping on the couch. I thought to wake him up but to my surprise, he suddenly opens his eyes and smirks. I avert my eyes from his gaze and my cheeks begin to turn pink.

"Morning beautiful!" He greets

"Good Morning". I reply. He looks cute when he wakes up. I bend and give him a quick kiss on the mouth. "Sleepy much?"

"Yeah, pretty much! Where were you?" He asks sitting up

"I went jogging with Sara and she told me about the farewell party" I state joining him on the couch

"So when is it?"

"In two days."

"Cool, have fun." He smiles

"Wouldn't you want to come?" I ask with a slight frown on my face

"I would like that but. . I have a meeting out of the city." He says solemnly

"Ahh! When?" I ask

"The same evening." He replies smiling sadly

"Oh! I see." I reply looking down

"But I want you to have lots of fun! After all, it's your farewell party, so don't miss it." He uses a thumb to raise my face, then looks into my eyes

"Okay, I will. Thanks." I smile

A day later

As always, I and Sara intend to look awesome, so I have to pick the best dress. "It's our farewell party, I got to show some style." I muse to myself. I put on a pink handless gown that's knee length, put on a little make-up, then add a nude stiletto to match it up. Once I'm satisfied with my appearance, I leave the house.

I went to the cafe with Alex. Since he wasn't going to join me at the party, I wanted to spend some time with him.

"Thanks for dropping me, I really wish you had come with me." I say alighting from his car.

"I wish the same, but I can't skip this meeting"

"I understand, work is important, but I will miss you, and I wish you weren't going for so many days"

"Kara! I am close to your heart ALWAYS!" He says with a sweet smile. "But for missing me, I won't stop you. . I love being missed!" He jokes

"Nuh-uh! Don't let this get to your head."

"Anyways, do you want me to bring anything from there?" He asks

"Umm. ." I pause thinking, "I love photography, maybe you could get me a digital camera." I smile

"Good choice!" He says nodding

"I like capturing moments." I say with a shrug

"Hmm lovely. Sure, I will." He says

10 mins later

After a sad goodbye to Alex, I stepped into the 'Old Days' cafe which is the most happening cafe in the area. It has an impressive decor, with outclass sitting, and a classy open space for a live music party.

"Wonderful! The party organizer just picked out the best place for the party, hope it's going to be as mind-blowing!"

I scan the area seeing some of my course mates near the bar, but no sign of Sara anywhere. I frown at that. That girl never arrives on time to anything. She knows I avoid crowds, but only come along for these things for her. I should probably text her,

I bring out my phone from my purse, selecting her name,

"Where are you?" I type, sending instantly.

"So sorry honey. I'm totally messed up right now!" She replies just as fast, as though she knew I would text.

"Oh! What happened?"

"I accidentally burnt a hole in my dress. . I can't help it now." She sends sounding frantic.

"Okay, calm down!"

"I'm so foolish. It's my favorite dress. What should I do now?" She sends back asking.

"Let me help. Do you remember the dress I gifted you?"

"Oh yes, but I saved it for a special day."

I roll my eyes, even though she couldn't see me. "Doesn't matter, just put it on and make it snappy." I text back.

"Alright! Coming over in a few minutes."

"Okay. I'll be waiting!"

As I off my phone, I sat on the empty chair that I spotted first in the café. I could see students mesmerized with the noise and chaos of the hustle and bustle around. Suddenly someone called my name from behind and I was shocked to see Blake standing there.
