Chapter 2 ∆Book 1∆

-Sorting-

*Rose's POV*

We hit the bank of the river and started to climb the stairs. There were so many!

Plus, if this was a magic school, why couldn't the stairs move upwards by itself?

We reached these large door which swung open at once.

A lady, that looked like a cat, and had alot of wrinkles around her, with a stern face, came out.

(A/N I am following the book way, so Draco won't be asking to shake hands right now since he already did it on the train.)

She took us into the hall. I walked besides Hermione. I heard many people say wow, I was not sure at what.

Instead, I was looking at my brothers who were sitting on the Gryffindor table. The twins were waving at us. I just ignored them.

"Welcome, I am Professor McGonagall and..."

She started a whole speech there and then. Like come on, we just arrived from a extremely long train ride. At least let us sit down so we can easily zone out.

The sorting has even did a song. I think it was to entertain us, but I almost fell asleep on Hermione. Lucky for me she caught me. That hat had to go to singing classes.

But that wasn't the worst part, it was the fact that the professor starting calling out names alphabetically from surnames. Mine was a W so I was one of the last people.

Actually, scratch that out. I was the last person, Ron went before me. What happened to ladies first?

"Rose Weasley"

(A/N Sorry but I have to do this for suspense... Imma give you ten seconds to guess which house she goes in.)

I went towards the stool and sat down. Hermione, Harry and all my brothers were starting at me.

"Another Weasley. But you are a tough one."

The hat kept on mumbling things while I stared at the ceiling. How much longer was this going to take? I was starving. What if they were planning to starve me to death?

"I am going to put you in...

Slytherin!"

They all looked at me wide eyed, like literally, every single person, Am I really that beautiful?

The hat was removed from my head, so I went down the Slytherin table, they slowly started to clap for me.

Then someone called Professor Dumbledore stood up. I remembered that time when Bill had forced me to watch this muggle thing, and a muggle in the movie had very long hair! Dumbledore had that exact same thing, but as a beard.

Luckily he said these three random words and we were allowed to start eating. I was still looking for a seat, but no one budged. I ended up sitting right at the edge, this is only because of some kind girl who made space for me.

She was in my year. Her name was Daphne Greengrass.

"Hello, I am Daphne Greengrass. Meet my cousins Millicent Bulstrode, Pansy Parkinson, and Tracey Davis. We are basically related since we all are pure bloods. So I welcome you to our family."

I smiled. At least some people were kind.

"I am glad to be in your family. I am sure you already know me..."

They nodded.

Dinner time was over, I was really sleepy. I wanted to stand up and go wherever we sleep at. But the headmaster of the school had a speech to give. To be honest, I have never had these many speeches all my life.

It went on for three whole hours till we were dismissed. Our house prefects took us to the dungeons. Our password was mudblood. If I said this in front of mum and dad, I would be grounded for lifetime.

We went into our girls dorms and started to unpack immediately, then we all went to sleep.

*Time Skip To Next Morning*

My eyes opened at 5 in the morning so I decided to wake the others up. Shaking them carefully.

After I shook all of them up, I went to take a shower, Singing a muggle song that I had secretly listened to just to show Ron who the boss was during the dare.

The song was called New Rules. I actually liked it, but never got a chance to hear any other muggle song.

As I got out of the shower, Pansy was the first one to start clapping, I blushed.

"That was awesome!" Pansy said.

"Yeah," Tracey and Millicent agreed.

"You should be in the school choir. I heard that there is one," Daphne added.

"Thanks guys. I have never been appreciated for singing in my family. They never pay attention."

We giggled walking towards the Great Hall. I wondered how they knew the way, but I didn't question it.

While I was at the Slytherin table, the Gryffindors kept on staring at me. Well, except for Percy, he never cared for me from the beginning.

Ron, Fred and George, and surprisingly Harry were the ones who stared the most, with hurt looks.

I didn't understand, why weren't they happy for me?

I excused myself from the table, tired from all the stares. Just the I bumped into an owl. It was Errol with a red envelope, It was a Howler!

I snatched the envelope out of his neck and ran as far from the castle as I could, leaving Errol lying on the floor.

I was a pretty fast runner, I reached a tree and opened it, there was mum's voice:

"Rose Marion Weasley, we heard that you got sorted into Slytherin last night. Your father and I have thought about it, and come to the decision. You have betrayed our family into turning evil, and you are officially no longer in our family. Yes, we have disowned you. Please do not try to contact us, or try to talk to us in any way, our decision is final."

A tear slipped out of my eye. They disowned me? Why? Who said I was going to turn evil?

I had started to cry now.

"Hey, it is okay."

I looked up to see a blonde biting into a green apple on the tree. He was a Malfoy, dad had always talked bad about his father.

"Don't worry, no need to cry," he said patting my back awkwardly. He stayed with me for some time as I cried, in silence.

He looked at his watch,"Come on, classes will start soon, you don't even have your timetable."

I shook my head,"You can go, I think it is just best that I skip classes today. I don't think I can stand all the staring and talking."

He nodded and left. Great, now I was lonely.

Time passed as I carried on weeping and staring into the lake. I didn't know what the time was. Students had started to come out, I guessed that it was lunch period. I really wanted to go inside, but I couldn't.

I sat further behind the tree, not wanting to be seen. There was a tap on my shoulder, it was Hermione.

She smiled at me all sad,"Here, I brought you food."

"Thank you. But why would you do this to me, I am a Slytherin and you are a Gryffindor. Everyone hates me."

"Oh Rose, First of all, I don't care for the fact that you are a Slytherin. I have talked to you before, and I know that deep down, no matter what, you would never turn evil. Second of all, no one hates you."

"Then what about my parents?"

"What about them?"

I looked at her,"They sent me a howler disowning my because I am in Slytherin."

Hermione frowned,"They can't do that! They shouldn't judge you for what house you're in cause at least you managed to get into Hogwarts."

I bit into the sandwich and shrugged. She helped my tears go away.

"Are you still going to be my friend?" I asked.

"Of course! But to be honest, I don't have any friends either," She blushed deep crimson, "Everyone hates me because I know alot..."

We talked about each others problems. It helped, but there were still thoughts whizzing through my head.

I stood and Hermione left me to go to the library, at that moment Pansy came running to me and Hugged me.

"Thank goodness your alright! Draco told me what had happened. Here, your timetable. I have filled in the first two classes for you."

"Thanks, Pansy, I think I am ready to go to the last two. What do we have?"
