I Want To...

"I never knew running in the rain for only a few minutes could be so exhausting." Raiden panted. His legs felt so sore and tired that he could barely move a step.

As he tried to catch his breath, he casually examined the room.

The cabin was only a few tens of square meters wide and it was made from unfurnished wood. It was a tad too shabby and was only equipped with a bed, a toilet, and a fireplace. But it was more than enough to shelter him from the storm.

Tired as he was, he still stood up and went to start a fire in the fireplace. Being drenched in the cold rain was no laughing matter as it could make anyone sick.

In the corner of the cabin, there was a pile of firewood that could last for days, ready for anyone to use.

If anyone saw that the firewood was running low, it was customary to press the button near the firewood to ring an alarm to the forest committee.

Doing so, they would come here and replenish the pile. It was just like the Clean Up buttons in hotel rooms.

There was also a big red button by the bed, and this was the Emergency button. Just like the Emergency button in the Pokédex, it was only for when you are in dire straits, like bleeding or dying.

After Raiden wiped himself dry with a towel and changed his clothes, he then went to examine Pikachu.

The rain washed away most of the dirt on its body, fully revealing its yellow fur. This Pikachu was quite different as its fur was silkier compared to others.

Using his wet shirt, he slowly wiped Pikachu clean and dry. There were some cuts and a lot of bruises on its body and every time they were accidentally touched, it would flinch in pain.

He then set Pikachu on the bed. It was having trouble breathing and its body was burning hot. It was probably suffering from excessive electricity that could wipe out and blast everything apart in the area.

Raiden couldn't help Pikachu with its electricity, but he could do something about its wounds.

He went over his bag and took out a Potion.

This Potion would disinfect the wounds and boost the Pokémon's recovery rate by 20%. It didn't seem much, but it was the best he could offer. He then applied it onto Pikachu's wounds as careful as possible.

Pikachu observed the human who was treating him. It had never been cared for this way, not ever.

The human must have known that he was beyond help, yet it still rescued him from the storm and now treating its wounds. It was pointless, but it touched its heart.

It thought that if it could live for a little while longer, it wouldn't be so bad travel with this human.

Sadly, it was just not possible.

The treatment lasted for half an hour. The deluge outside was heavily pounding on the cabin, but they were muffled by the thick roof and walls. The sound of heavy breathing was swept away by the noise, and the occasional thunder echoed into the room.

Pikachu was wrapped in bandages and the Potion seemed to have worked as most of the cuts had stopped bleeding. But Pikachu was not getting better and was turning for worse, as it was gradually weakening.

Raiden was very worried. The thought of capturing Pikachu was thrown out the window, because capturing Pokémon would momentarily weaken it. Pikachu couldn't afford to be weakened even more as it would surely die. Not that it wasn't already dying.

Suddenly, Raiden's stomach growled. He had been exhausted a lot lately, with activating his electric-seeing eyes and running through the rain. When he checked the time, it was already 12:30 in the afternoon.

It looked like it was almost evening only because there was a storm and that the trees made the surroundings even darker.

Raiden took out his storage box containing food as he chewed on some Tepig meat he heated over the fire, adding some of the variety of seasoning prepared by Mom.

As he ate, he offered some to Pikachu.

At first, it didn't react. But when he placed a strip of meat on top of its nose, it finally moved.

Soon afterward, Pikachu was weakly nibbling on the meat.

Every time it moved it seemed like it was in a world of pain.

Right now, Raiden couldn't do anything more to help, so he quickly stuffed himself full.

Then began to check the changes within himself.

Wherever he looked, he could see the electricity flowing everywhere. This electrical vision didn't hinder his normal vision. He could also switch it on and off.

Raiden decided to call this Thunder Vision. Why thunder when it was just the sound and not lightning or electric vision? Well, because it sounded way cooler.

When he looked at the thunder clouds outside the cabin, he saw thousands of illusory golden lines tangling and crawling like snakes. He could even predict where and when the next lightning would strike!

Now, it was time to ponder on the source of it all.

Raiden examined his pendant. He wasn't dumb. He knew that the ability to see and feel electricity came from the pendant.

He just didn't have the time to check. With all these things happening within a day, he didn't have the luxury to.

He came to this world after lightning struck him together with this pendant.

As for the ability to see electricity, he would be an idiot if he didn't think so after seeing it shine brightly under his Thunder Vision!

Looking at it was just like staring at the sun. When he held it in his hands, he could feel the tremendous electricity within it. It really felt like a solid piece of lightning.

Many thoughts ran around his head when he heard Pikachu grunting in pain.

In his Thunder vision, he could see the electricity eating away at Pikachu's body. The electricity had already condensed into something almost liquid.

The last time he visited the Power Plant, he learned that Pokémon's electric attacks were not entirely electricity.

------------------------------------------------------------

In Elendel, there were three ways Pokémon could manifest supernatural acts.

Aura was the manifestation of the will through the body. Most Physical attacks and moves that could strengthen and enhance the body were supported by the power of Aura. Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Harden and Bulk Up were some examples that used Aura to activate.

Normal, Fighting, Steel type Pokémon were prominent users of Aura.

Psychic was the manifestation of the will through the mind. This wasn't just used by Psychic type Pokemon. Psychic power can make the intangible, tangible. Shadows, mental status effects like Growl and Roar, and changing weather conditions were all possible through Psychic power.

Fairy, Ghost and of course, Psychic type Pokémon mainly use Psychic as the source of their moves.

Plasma was the manifestation of the will through substance. Plasma energy can be easily condensed and imbued with the properties of a substance. Water Pokémon could spit out water several times their body size, because it was just energy with the properties of water.

Water, Fire, Ice, Dark, and Electric type Pokémon greatly rely on Plasma to attack.

All Pokémon could perform all three ways of manifestation.

Some moves were the combination of two or all the powers. Magnitude was the product of both Aura and Psychic to shake the ground. Rock throw uses Plasma to generate rocks and Psychic to throw.

------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, Plasma energy was similar to, but more advanced compared to the plasma of Earth.

Plasma is the fourth state of matter that is of sufficiently high energy that the electrons are no longer tightly bound to the atom the way that they are in a solid, liquid, or gas, but are instead free flowing.

This made electric-type moves make much more sense.

Electricity couldn't be shaped into anything, as it didn't have any substance.

But Plasma could. It could be controlled, shaped, and manipulated, as well as contain electricity.

And as an example, Electro Ball is a ball of Plasma that contained electricity.

But what does this all have to do with Pikachu?

Raiden could see at first glance the extremely bright electricity in Pikachu's body.

But when he looked even closer and focused, he could see the path of the electricity flowing inside it.

No, something was wrong.

It wasn't flowing.

If a circuit ran around in a full circle, Pikachu's electrical veins weren't connected.

There was a clot somewhere in its heart that stopped the flow of electricity. Right now, most of the electricity was gathered there.

If you thought about it, electricity could freely travel through objects as it was the transfer of electrons.

But if it was a substance, like Plasma, it needed to have a path it could travel on. Like an outlet.

And this outlet was something that Pikachu didn't have. Its Plasma channels were blocked.

Raiden knew what this was. This was Thrombosis.

It was the same illness that took the life of his father in his past life. He died under the extreme pain of his blood clotting somewhere near his lungs.

And as for Pikachu, it must have been an excruciating experience to have lived like this for many years.

Raiden felt something in his chest as he looked at the suffering Pikachu.

"Hey." He called out.

There was no answer.

"Hey." Raiden tried again.

"…"

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, he-"

"Pii…" Pikachu answered feeling annoyed. It was dying. What more could this human want? Just let me die in peace.

"Can I check?"

He felt that Pikachu would understand what he meant.

"…"

"Hey, hey, he-"

"Pi."

He didn't understand if it meant yes or no, but he could see from Pikachu's actions that it was allowing him to do whatever he wanted. After all, in its mind, it was already dead without redemption.

Raiden reached out and carried Pikachu into his lap. He put his hands on the two electric sacs on its cheeks and squished.

*Squish* *Squish squish*

"…" Pikachu just closed his eyes.

*Squish squish*

"… …"

*Squish squish squeezeee*

"!!!" Pikachu opened his eyes and wanted to bite something. This human was just playing with me!

But when it saw Raiden squeezing its cheeks while smiling stupidly, it just closed its eyes again and let him be.

So sooooft!

"Hehehehehe." After enjoying the softness of its cheeks for a few more seconds, Raiden finally went to work.

'To cure a clot, it either has to be done by surgery or give it time to unblock on its own.' Raiden remembered what a nurse had said before.

'The Pokémon Center wouldn't give surgeries, and there's no more time. So…'

For electric-type Pokemon, if Plasma is imbued with electricity, and you could control electricity, then you could control that Plasma.

Raiden tried to remember the moment when he had acquired the Thunder Vision.

He was watching the Pikachu and he wanted to know what they were talking about, then he acquired Thunder Vision.

This pendant must be a shooting star because it could grant wishes. But at the cost of his energy and maybe even his life. Scary.

'Is it desire? Or… Will? Is it manifestation? Am I a Pokémon now?'

He discarded the useless thoughts and tried to express his will.

"I want to… control electricity." As soon as he said this, he braced himself.

"…" The wind just coldly blew through.

Huh? Was I wrong? Maybe it wasn't enough?

"I want to control electricity. I want to control electricity. I want to control electricity."

He repeatedly said it, each time significantly louder. But still, nothing happened.

"I want to control electricity! I want to control electricity, God damn it!"

By the end, he was already shouting.

Pikachu on his lap just stared at him with disdain like he was crazy. Maybe this human will join him in dying together, no?

"Hey! Don't look at me like that! I'm doing this for you, you know! Ah, never mind. Maybe I was wro-"

Then it came.
