Daniel:
'Are you sure about this?' I asked a very exciting looking David. 'Positive', He answered with a smile. It been two weeks since I was in the hospital and I got discharged today. David told me about my Uncle and the court day.
I didn't know how to feel about it. Should I be happy? Should I be sad for him? Despite the maltreatment he was still family after all. I sighed and touched my necklace. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I felt a hand on my thigh. I looked over to David with a questioning look.
'We are here'. I looked to my side to see we where already inside the garage. I opened my side and got out and walked to David side. He took my hand in his and smiled. 'It will be alright. I know it's hard but I'm sure my parents will love you'. I nodded as we made our way into the house.
The living room was wide with six sofas and a long glass center table in the middle. On the walls were a lot of portraits of art and family pictures. I looked over to one to one of them and the person in it looked familiar. It was a younger version of David. He smiled showing his pair of white teeth as he held a football. He looked happier than now. As I reached a hand to touch it, I heard footsteps coming downstairs and a voice.
I turned around to see a very beautiful blonde woman. She smiled as she hugged David and David returned the same affection. It reminded me of my mom. His mom eyes finally landed on me. 'You must be Daniel. it's finally good to see you'. She wrapped me in a warm hug and I stood rooted to my spot not moving. I didn't expect this. She was so sweet already. I put my arms around her finally responding.
'Your so cute', she said realeasing me and I felt a blush creep to my cheeks. I whispered a 'thank you'. 'Dont mention. Just know that I'm here for you if you ever need me'. She rubbed my shoulders reassuringly. 'Thank you miss..'. 'Just call me Julie', she said beaming, 'So go fresh up while I make dinner. You'll meet my husband later'. She smiled before walking to the direction I suppose the kitchen was.
'Follow me. I'll show you your room', David said taking my box and climbing the stairs. I followed him too the third floor and he turned towards the door on the right opening. 'So this is it. I hope you like it. If you need anything my room is just next too yours'. 'Thanks', I said sitting down on the bed. 'No problem. I will leave you to settle in'. With that he closed the door walking to his own room.
I stripped out of my clothes and took a shower. I put on some clothes and dived into the bed tired. After several minutes of not finding any sign of sleep, I took out my sleeping pills. I took the required dose and drank the cup of water left for me on the nightstand. I settled back on the bed thinking of how my new life will be when I felt my eyelids getting heavy. I closed my eyes giving in to the darkness.
