Pierced

Cold like the Artic chill froze her in place as her heart hung on a thin string. Her golden eyes blinked in confusion of what she was seeing and yet… a voice was telling her this was what she got for trusting an angel.

'But… this is Adam,' she replied.

'He is an angel now,' the voice that sounds like her father stated.

'But he loves me,' she stared at the man walking forward with the weapon still aimed at her.

'He also loves Him,' the voice replied, and her body shook.

Fisting her uninjured hand, she saw him pause a few meters before her and shot the arrow with no hesitation.

"So, it was all a lie," she spoke in a cold tone as she forced the arrow through her injured shoulder.

The pain was nothing compared to the hurt she felt in her heart.

"To think, I thought your love was real," she continued biting every word like a bitter lemon.

Honey eyes deepened to a black void. The marks of demons slowly revealed itself in a glow upon her skin.

"At least now I know the truth," she said softly and softened her lips into a smile, "If you wish to kill me Adam, then come."

The ground began to crack, the trees tumbled and fell from the magnitude of the shake. Another shot of the arrow along with God's loyal angel flew to attack her. She avoided the arrow by twisting and turning like a dance, as she fought with Michael. Gathering minerals around her to harden her usable arm, she blocked his hit and slashes. Long legs joined the fight and the kicks to the side of the angel caused him to create a small distance from her. The other angel rushed in to join, but Eve shot to the sky as her dark wings shadowed those below her.

The arrow struck her right thigh and she paid it no mind, as Michael joined her in the sky. A screeching sound flew through the air by the slash of his sword. Eve materialized a sword, thin and long, to block the attack. She felt the push back from the force but flipped forward and shot her energy- black like her heart- at the angel. Another few arrow shot through the air and she flew toward her opponent. Arrows zoomed and zipped through the sky toward her, like a missile at their target.

Tightening her hand on the hilt of the sword, she slammed the blade against Michael, who blocked it. However, Eve pushed harder as her energy electrified and shocked his skin. Before the angel can push away, she dropped her sword and grabbed his front robe. Pulling her quickly before him, the arrows pierced his limbs. Kicking the angel forward, an arrow pierced her calf.

The sound of thunder roared in the sky as it darkened. A flash of lightening entered her vision as it aimed at her. She could feel her whole-body twitching and shiver from the bright energy.

'Heh, so you want to join too?' Her eyes narrowed as her energy pulsed through the bright one, '… fine.'

A burst of dark energy surrounded her cutting off the lightening that God had tried to strike her with. Rushing forward, she materialized the sword once more and attacked with the strength of a rhino. Not stopping the slamming of her blade, she managed to break Michael's blade.

In a state of surprised, the angel felt the powerful punch against his chest. Eve watched as Michael fell like an anvil dropped from the sky; Azrael rushed to catch his brother and she felt bile rise up her throat.

More arrows shot toward her and she just stared at the man, the angel, holding the weapon that would kill her.

'I shall die fighting for you this time and all of time,' he had told her.

'I love you,' he had said in the cavern where they made love.

'Liar,' she felt the pierce against her skin, 'Liar.'

She dropped to the ground and stumbled as her wings retracted back inside her. Her eyes never leaving his blue ones when another arrow pierced into her sides. Stepping toward him, she wanted to hear him, hear him say this was all a lie. He was working for his father this whole time and all the words, all the touches of love were an illusion. She wanted to know if she saved him only to kill her.

An arrow stabbed underneath her right collarbone.

Wincing from the pain, she felt the blood gather in her mouth and slipped down her lips.

"Tell me," she whispered as her eyes watered, shining as the strike of lightening filled the air bringing rain.

Droplets fell onto them, but all she could see was her lover before her. Bodies and hair drenched from the heavy rain, she still found him beautiful. Golden hair still bright even in the darkness of the clouds, blue eyes like the ever-flowing sea, and body sculpted and shaped to be a heavenly being.

"I'm sorry," he finally spoke softly, so quiet she thought she imagined it from the noise of thunder.

'Sorry?' She touched her face as her heart continued to dangle above death's hands.

Tears, fat and fast, slipped down her eyes as she stepped forward until the arrow was pressed against her heart. If she were to die, how ironic it would be from the man she loved all her life?

'Aren't you happy, your holiness?' She questioned in her mind as she watched the wavering of her lover's blue eyes.

"You will be reborn," he reminded her, and she closed her eyes.

She did agree with God that once they were able to make a weapon to kill her, then she would be reborn to live her human life with Adam. She agreed to be the Queen of Hell for 100 years for it to be made. It was agreed upon, but there was already a weapon. They gave it to Samael. Her father died. War occurred. How was she to trust the ruler of Heaven after the betrayal?

Now… now Adam was willing to kill her to save her? Opening her eyes, she felt it soften as she held his hand, wrapping a finger over his on the trigger.

"One can only reborn with a soul," she whispered and pressed against the arrow.

His brows tilted downward in confusion, searching her honey eyes. Before he could question her, the sound of a new party entering the area.

"Father!" the blood red hair of the angel rushed over, distracting those in the vicinity to turn their heads.

"You are my weakness," she leaned forward and left a short kiss to the side of his cheek.

Click.

The sound was so loud in his ears as his eyes widened. Turning his head quickly to her, he saw more blood slipping down her lips.

'Eve,' her name so loud was ringing in his ears.

She pushed him hard and within a blink of an eye, she had disappeared with the unconscious purple demon. Hands shaking, he felt his heart chilled. He had just shot and possibly killed his lover.

'Wasn't that what you wanted?' He questioned himself.

'I don't know,' he found himself repeating as he blinked the tears away with the rain against his face.

"She escaped! Dammit!" The lastest angel shouted rushing to where the female demon last stood, "I am going to kill her!"

"Where were you Raphael?" Their father questioned as he cleared the skies.

"I realized Gabriel escaped and followed his essence," the shadow angel explained, "But I was hit and when I woke, that demon was there," his voice was coming through his gritted teeth, "She tortured me in ways I would never imagined. Please do not ask Father. I do not wish to repeat it."

"Very well," God stated as the clouds parted and the sky cleared.

A chariot from the sky flew down tied to four beautiful well-groomed white horses. They swiftly settled on ground and they entered the chariot.

"Adam," his father voiced and he blinked a few more times, as he dragged his feet to the transportation that would take him far, far away from the woman that he loves, the demon that he tried to kill.

'Eve.'
