Chapter 10: Night of carnage

These events take place from 12:30 am to 1:30 am.

Holy shit there was no more ball as a plan. I consume too much Delta Force movies in my opinion. But I read Admiral McRaven's thesis that a small troop of soldiers well used could endanger an entire army and its foundations. I completely agree with him, it has been verified several times in history with the German army for the blitzkrieg, the American army with Sadam, the English army in the Falklands and so on. McRaven was no dumbass, after all he hatched the plan to kill Bin Laden.

- We are approaching the shore, stay focused. *Friedich announced*.

If we had had the means of my old world we would have come swimming or even with probes, but here a swim of 3km in ice water does not correspond at all to our guys.

-Are you sure these guys won't see anything? *Ophelia asked*.

-These idiots are exhausted, it's almost one o'clock in the morning and a silhouette of a ship 3 km away. I believe the current guard would rather sleep than have fun looking for ships off the coast.

About twenty meters we got off each of our boats and started swimming to the edge. As expected there was very little guard. One of them opened his fly to relieve himself in the sea and did not see the hands coming out of the water. In perfect sync Fried, Ophelia, Finch and I drag them to the bottom of the water while the other guys slice their throats. Once on the surface, their uniforms were carefully removed.

-It is important not to make a hole in the flowers that could attract attention. *I had to explain*.

-Wait we leave without a weapon in addition? *Fried said*

-What is the point of leaving with weapons since the corpses of Turam will provide us ? Having the same rifle and the same uniform would arouse less suspicion.

I think I played halo too much to, but it was true. We were the first 4 to put on our uniforms.

-What if a Turam speaks to us? *Finch asked*.

-Don't worry. Zell and I speak Adamica. *Fried reassured*.

Remember, my 2 years of paralysis gathering information. This made our trips easier. Guiding our guys in the dark we made them enter the barracks. Most of the guards were sleeping, and they were suffocated before their necks were broken.

-When everyone has a uniform we will separate into small groups.

There we marked the targets that I had stated when drawing up the plan.

-Arms, ammunition cellars, barracks. But the first round of fire had to hit.

-The cannons. *Swan said*.

-The ship is more than 3 km away. Even if you think you have the right angle, it doesn't mean that you will aim right. *Said Troy*.

-Do not worry. I started my calculations from the moment we left their fortress. I won't miss it. All that was missing was the signal.

The signal, ha it was a fucking big fire on the coast. It's hard not to see the explosions of ammunition and the barracks going up in smoke. Add to that my flare that gave the signal for the shot.

-There will be a lag between the moment or I would say to fire and the path of the shell. From here take shelter.

-We will have what with this distance. 10 seconds. *Finch said*.

- Or even all the time in the world. *I tell them*.

why hiding when we know where the bombs will fall ? As soon as I heard the sound of the cannons I left to my luck. After the 10 second countdown the shells simultaneously struck the cannons posted on the ramparts of the fortress.

-YES. *I was shouting*.

But that's not all. Swan shifted the cannons and now fired on the spots that had been indicated. As panic took hold in the camp, we applied phase 2 of the plan. Namely to enter inside the fortified area.

-Halte where are you going. *Asked the guard at the entrance*.

-We are going to put his excellence in the shelter.

This bluff I had launched by analyzing the wavelength of this guard and he had reacted. I don't know who his Excellency was, but he must have had someone high up to oversee the construction of the place.

-Ah ... Are you Cheick's men?

-Yes that's right. *Fried said*. We go to shelter it.

There was no risk of getting hit by a shell. After sweeping the cannons Swan should simply bomb the exterior of the fortress. The interior would have 1000 guards broke everything, half of which would be sent to counter the assault. Which left us with 500 scared and panicked guards. Therefore our 60 guards would not be refused.

-Come in.

As we entered Ophelia approached me.

-The ... Cheick isn't he..

-He is, the supreme leader of Turam. I replied.

To differentiate ourselves through the chaos we had put armbands on our stolen uniforms otherwise it would be a shootout between white coats ...

-Good. Take out the toys.

Who said we didn't bring a gun already? Since the barges have dragged with us in a box kilos of dynamite, heavy machine guns that we had to dismantle but above all.

- Trench Guns.

Or as they used to say in my world. The motherfucking 12 round. Well here it was 10 but the principle remained the same.

-That the night of carnage like. I say with a smile.

The rest was really horrible. Our little commando had taken over the main square where the Cheick was located. Armed like never before I opened fire with my rifle eliminating guard after guard in my path. The poor could not respond because they wondered who was attacking them. At the entrance Fried had installed the machine guns and then posted himself in defense. The massacre was laughable. The guards who fled in our direction or simply came to reinforce the corner were being pulled like rabbits. Muller's party threw grenades in the barracks and those who managed to escape were pierced by Fried and his men. Hartkins and his group had taken Sheikh's Palace in a flash and were heading into the underground. I continued to empty my cartridges on the soldiers above the ramparts. I took the opportunity to take a look at the camp. These guys were really sounding. 1 am is the best time to attack a camp, that's what Seb had told me and he was right. Sleep has not yet taken effect, the enemy panics and juggles exhaustion and panic. Too scared to think about it heads for the first gun that comes along. They have nothing to counter a naval assault so many of them desert their posts for fear of dying. Those who choose to come this far will be mercilessly smashed by Fried's machine guns.

-You would have really enjoyed this show seb

As I took in the view I saw a soldier from Turam disembarked. He was completely bleeding and seeing his gaze panic had taken effect.

-Quick ... We must ... Prevent Cheick. Our enemies .... We have the same uniform as ....

He literally fell at my feet begging me but when his gaze met mine he instantly understood and began to cry.

-Why, why are you doing this?

I exploded his skull in 10 caliber spilling his brains on the ground.

-Because I love it.

Downstairs Zell's machine gun had run out of ammo and he waved at me.

-Bayonette with rifles. *He yelled*.

The soldiers below took out their bayonets which they fixed to the ends of their rifles while the soldiers remaining outside entered the palace saber in hand. Close combat was inevitable and quickly became a general melee. From where I was I could see Fried in action. He stuck his gag in a guy's eye and retrieved his sword. He slice his throat, avoiding the blade of a guy behind him which he planted in the chest. He lifted another putting him over his shoulders before violently pinning him to the ground. This guy was dead on the spot and I know it because I saw his wavelength disappear. A guy rushed towards him screaming but Fried fired a pistol bullet at him between his eyes. Alternating between saber and gun and took them apart with disconcerting ease.

-Your friend there. *Said Ares a long time ago. Friedich*. He is not normal.

-How's that normal ?

-The Linebergs are descendants of the one who slaughtered Fafnir. Even if their strength is not what it used to be, they are still real monsters.

And it was true. On the ground there was the corpse of about fifty guys, half of whom he had killed.

-No wonder he doesn't want Asgeir to see him like that.

A shell hit a line of trenches behind me, then a house inside the palace, then a barracks nearby. If you are wondering why Swan was so precise it wasn't just because of his calculations. We just had one eye in the sky.

- That he be careful sometimes.

Troy had again stolen Brandon's plane and served as our observer. The timing wanted him to arrive at 1am sharp and he was 10 minutes late. To minimize friendly fire as much as possible he would help Swan over the radio by telling him how to set his aim. With these two we had our perfect example of the missile directed by satellite. And with her cat eyes the darkness wasn't a problem either.

-Alfar, I mean Adjutant Chief Cailum ... *Said a cadet who came to see me on the ramparts*.

1h22 minutes I was in front of the door which separated me from Cheick.

-So Finch why the door is still standing?

-We don't have enough explosive anymore and if we mess up we risk making it blast with it.

-I see.

-Go away. *Shouted the panicked Cheick*. If you go I'll forget your mutiny.

The poor man still believes in a rebellion of his men. Still, he was smart enough to have a door made of steel. Too bad for him that the location of this place had leaked.

-You are men to my brother, aren't you? I'll give you some money.

Far from listening to his speech i focused on how to get him out of there.

-Finch are there any rooms adjacent to this one?

-Yes the guest room next door.

Once there I put my hand on the wall. 5 wavelengths on the other side so one more loose than the others.

-Well go ahead.

As the wall exploded I synchronized my wavelength with that of Ophelia and Hartkins. We all 3 used a pistol for more precision. Each was assigned a target. The 4 guards were shot in the head and we were able to enter the room safely. The Cheick was a fat bacon with a tanned complexion, his clothes were covered with jewels and he had rings on his fingers. Tch I hate that kind of flashy who can do nothing.

-What ... What are you doing? *He panicked*. I have money if you will.

- Shall we kill him? *Bryce asked*.

-We are not barbarians Staff Sergeant Hartkins. *I tell him with a smile*. Take him on board.

1h30 minutes the fortress had fallen. In the early morning The armed forces of Sahadat who had received an anonymous letter written by me arrived. They found only scattered bodies and panicked Turam soldiers who had surrendered. The Klingen had docked at the port completing their motivation. At the top of the fortress the Elysion flag fluttered as Decken's device circled around. The national anthem resounded throughout the citadel. It was the first land-sea-sky assault in history and it was damn successful. At dawn were finally visible the half destroyed place had been invested by the Sahadat and the duchy. The 300 cadets of the 51st Brigades were arrested, including Lancell. But it was only short-lived. Having learned of our exploit, the Duke went personally to Sahadat to thank us. A ceremony took place where each of the students of this promotion was entitled to a medal. After that the investigation office wanted to know more about our operation so I found myself in a court with all the clique.

-Lancell van Elysée, Alfar Zell Cailum, you have launched an operation to conquer a fortress where 18 of your friends were injured, although slightly. With 60 men you took the palace ...

-With 60 men, a heavy cruiser and a plane. *Lancell seconded*. We should not underestimate the work of others, please.

- Did you really need to go to such extremes? *Asked the head of the committee*.

-If we hadn't done it, their fortress would have been finished and our army would have been caught in turmoil. *Friedich explained*. It was nothing more than a preemptive strike.

-Silence Adjutant Lineberg. You will speak when it will be your turn.

-The question that our Highness the Duke is asking here is how attacking a nation with which we have nothing to do would benefit us.

-Hey you are the expert in politics. *Decken said*. So do your shit.

I pulled up the tie on my uniform and walked over to the other side of the desk, displaying the map.

-As you can see this is a map showing the position of the fortress. It is located right on the border between the two countries. Moreover, it is cold with the sea. The interest here is to restore this fortress and to make it an advanced base for our troops.

As usual my proposal made waves but I calmed them down on the spot.

-With a stronghold like this we can easily control maritime and land trade. We will bring in civilians and traders, refugees and so on. This place will become the new Silk Road and will only benefit our economy.

- This guy is crazy sometimes. *Swan said with a smile*.

- In addition, we have captured the Cheick which gives us an argument for negotiation with his brother the general of the armies.

-Second Lieutenant Cailum was this your goal from the start? *Asked the duke, getting up*.

-No. But in view of the events this seems to me the most appropriate solution.

-Very well. For the crimes of Theft, embezzlement of military equipment, mutiny, use of equipment without authorization and so on .... The entire 51st brigade is demobilized until further notice.

-What? But father? *Brandon said angry*.

-Vice-Admiral Weinberg I'll give you details about these kids.

Ah yes, Papa Bear became Vice Admiral now and he had become attached to us. After that the Klingen threw a party with the crew and our families. Our entire promotion takes the opportunity to apologize.

-Sorry for tying you up. *Lancell said, bringing his palms together*.

-It's alright, it's already forgotten. I rather rage not to have participated. This medal is bland now.

-Sorry.

There was entertainment to say the least. Swan had received a visit from his fiancée, Marie Steinberg.

-Since our classes are now over, we will enjoy a well-deserved rest. *He said*. I will be able to devote myself entirely to you.

-We will not be demobilized for a long time, take advantage of it to make babies. *Yelled Decken*.

These two blushed while the others laughed.

-And you Decken seems to have a crush on the prince. *Ophelia said with a sly smile*.

-Hey but it's not okay.

- Don't say things like that.

-But the prince already has a crush on his cousin.

- Sergeant Muller? *Lancell yelled in anger*.

While everyone was having fun I took advantage of the noise to slip away for a moment. It was then that I saw her approach. A beautiful blonde woman with green eyes, in gorgeous dresses. She had tied her hair with a barrette and was wearing brown boots and gloves.

-Excuse me, I'm looking for Second Lieutenant Cailum.

-It depends on who asks?

-Be careful sir, I'm already taken.

- Such a beautiful woman I have no doubt.

I put my hands around her hips and kissed her which surprised her greatly but she let it go and prolonged the kiss. I released her then to catch our breath.

-What are you ....

-It's our first kiss, isn't it? You deserve a lot more.

-Zell, you said, *She is blushing with embarrassment*.

I made her sit at a table to make her comfortable.

-In the end, how did you know about the fortress?

- Maybe Cheick's brother leaked the info to our ears.

-And you told me about it. You were hoping that I would intervene and kill him at the same time. But I captured him and now he's going home safe and sound.

-Not quite. In fact, you did us a favor by capturing him. He will pass for a traitor in the eyes of his people and that will legitimize his brother.

-But if they kill him the war will resume between the two countries and our men will be forced to help the Sahadat.

-We have warned that in case of conflict Elysion will not help either party. *She said with a smile*. The fortress will be the symbol of our neutrality.

-Stack in the middle eh.

This woman was perhaps dangerous, at first I wanted to keep her out of pure interest but it was clear that I was starting to feel something else. I was sure now I wanted to be with her.

-Arianne. *I say putting a hand on her*.

-Yes, what is it ?

-I love you.

-Z .... Zell you ....
