CHAPTER 48

I rest my chin on the top of my palm while my elbow is place on one of the tables in the academy's library.

Did I do something wrong?

I know Cain doesn't like me following him around but it's the first time he did that to me.

Well, he did tried to strangle me before when we were ten years old at that time. I understand why though, his power is trying to take over him and as a child, he is still confuse about everything.

But still...his way of snobbing me is different from before.

I'm already thinking about the annoying prince last time, now Cain too?! I haven't even gathered frienship points from him! What should I do?

I was deep in my thoughts that I haven't been paying attention in our meeting.

"Delie!"

I almost stood up from my seat when Miss Audrey called out my name.

"Y-yes?"

"Do you agree?"

"Yes!"

"Alright, you're the one assigned to that"

Wait, what did I agree to again?

I asked Derrick who was right beside me listening silently with a whisper.

"What is this meeting about?"

"We're talking about the plans for the Halloween"

Oh? Halloween?

"What did I agreed to, by the way?

"You agreed to be an extra for the Halloween play of the Drama club"

What now?!

"What?"

"Each club is looking for a participant in the EXTRA club in being helpers of different clubs"

"But doesn't the Drama club have a lot of members? Why do they need a student from the EXTRA club?"

"I don't know, it was just a requirement"

"Then why do I need to be the one to join?"

"It's because everyone else refuse to do that part so Miss Audrey asked you if you will agree if she puts you there"

It's my fault for not listening then.

After the short meeting, we went to our respective classes. I was trying to listen attentively when I heard something knocking on the window beside my seat.

I look at the thing knocking when I almost scream, thankfully I quickly closed my mouth so that the teacher won't hear me.

It was the second prince of Donato! He is standing on the large tree together with his two pet birds. He gave me a slight wave with a small smile.

What is he doing there?!

He took a scroll from one of his loose sleeves and show me what is written inside it.

I tilted my head since it looks like it was upside down so I gestured him to flip it. He seems to understand my gesture and immediately flipped the scroll vertically.

'WILL YOU MARRY ME?'

"....."

I sighed after I read it.

I smiled at him and quickly gave him a thumbs down.

"It seems Young lady La Eclaus is busy looking at the scenery rather than listening to my lectures"

The teacher saw me looking at the window with a thumbs down hand sign.

"Wait...it's not what it looks like! Someone is--"

I was about to tell him that someone is in tree when he suddenly disappeared.

That bastard!!

"I think you might need extra lessons today, don't you?"

The teacher gave me a smile with a scary aura behind him.

Darn it...

It was the same for the heroine too! He keeps pestering her to get married to her, unlike the heroine who is born smart...she doesn't need extra lessons like me.

The teacher will let me through when I have good grades like her but since he knows that my grades are a bit decent and not the best, he can give me extra lessons.

After my extra lessons, I thank my teacher.

"Thank you so much"

I told him before shutting the door to the class.

"If I see that prince again, I'll--"

I stopped talking and walking when I saw Cain standing in the hallway talking to a teacher who is a bit scared of him since I can see him trying to avoid his eye contact.

"There's no way I will participate"

It seems that the teacher is convincing him to participate in the halloween event of the academy.

Cain told him with a slight glare which made the teacher finally shut his mouth.

He seems to notice me staring at him. I was about to smile at him when he suddenly remove his eyes away from me.

I was about to follow Cain when someone suddenly hug me from behind which made me scream from the sudden hug and the ticklish touch.

"Kayle! Didn't I told you not to surprise me from the back like that?"

I karate chop his head after.

"Ouch! You didn't have to do that!"

Kayle told him caressing his head that I Karate chopped.

"Then don't do that anymore!"

I scolded him.

"Fine"

He mumbled.

"Anyways, I need to go--"

I thought that I could still follow Cain but he is now nowhere to be found.

"Where are you going? Can I come?"

Kayle asked me with sparkling eyes.

"No, forget it...why are you here anyway?"

"Oh that! I just want to say that I'm helping the costumes for the halloween event in the Drama club!"

That's right, Kayle is a member of the Fashion club!

"That's cool!"

I praised him which made his cheeks stain in bright red.

"T-thank you..."

It was rare for him to stutter.

"It's no big deal hehe...I just want to let you know"

He acts unbothered but I can see him forming a grin from his mouth.

"I'm so proud of you!"

I unconsciously pat his head like an older sister.

He reminds me of my younger brothers in my past life.

"Still treating me like a kid..."

Kayle muttered.

"What did you say?"

I couldn't hear it much since he said it in a very quite voice.

"It's nothing, don't think about it"

He sighed.

"Come on, you are always like that! Tell me"

"I said you always treat me like a kid!"

"Well, what's wrong with that?"

He bit his lip in dismay.

"What's wrong is that you are acting like an old lady"

"So stop treating me like a kid! Besides, you are not even a year older than me! Other than that, we're even born in the same year!"

I tried chaging the topic since both of us suddenly became quiet.

"I was unfortunate, I was assigned to participate in the Drama club"

I told Kayle who looks surprised.

"Again? Don't tell me you spaced out again!"

He tries to hide his laugh but I can see him biting his bottom lip and body shaking trying to suppress it.

"You guessed it"

"For real? Hahaha!"

The fashion club will start to take measurements in the day the practice will start."

"By the way, when is the start of the practice?"

I asked Kayle who tilted his head to the side.

"Tomorrow! You didn't know?"

"N-no...I don't"

"Be prepared for tomorrow then!"

And here I thought I'll have a peace of mind focusing on my studies for real this time.

"Sure"

"Any news about the second prince?"

He suddenly brings out that topic out of nowhere.

"He is still the same, he won't stop pestering me"

I sighed in dismay.

"I wonder what made that prince like you? I mean you are not that beautiful--"

"One more word and I'll strangle you until you can't breathe"

I gave him a sharp glare to scare him.

"Don't you want that? You will become a part of Donato's imperial family! You will become the archduchess and your rank will be higher! You will also bring honor to your family"

Kayle told me looking away.

"You think I don't know that? Of course it will bring me and my family a lot of honor! But I don't want to marry someone just because of their status, I want to marry someone I really love and treasure...besides I'm not even thinking about getting married!"

I told myself that I want to live in a luxury in the countryside and open a large chocolate business.

Kayle looks satisfied in my reply.

"Don't you want to marry someone you love too Kayle?"

I asked him curiously.

"I also want to but I know for the fact that the person I like will never reciprocate mines..."

Whoa! Maybe he already someone loves?! I'm glad that his crush on me is gone!

"Ohhhh~! Looks like someone is in your mind right now!"

He tries looking away from my face that is staring right into his face.

"Let me guess..."

He looks nervous as I guess who it is.

"I know! It's Valerie, right?"

Kayle's nervous face immediately turns into a stone like statue.

"Did I guess it right?"

He seems like he wants to cry right now and his body is shaking.

"Are you alright--?"

I was about to ask him if he is alright when he suddenly run away wiping his tears.

"I hate you Delie!!! You should just burn in hell!"

I can even hear him sobbing.

"Don't run in the hallway!"

A strict teacher shouted at Kayle.

...What did just happen?

Did I said something wrong?...or maybe he is shy! I should help Valerie and Kayle together become closer!

I was having a good dream of me counting a huge sum of money and having a good ending in the countryside drinking hot chocolate beside a warm chimney.

About a minute later, I heard a sound of flute playing outside my dorm's window.

I tried ignoring it first but a giant flute suddenly destroyed my own mansion in my dream that I immediately open my eyes.

"My mansion!!"

Grrrrr!!

I stormed out of bed and head to my dorm room's window.

"Who the heck is disturbing my good sleep?!"

"You're finally awake, princess"

A familiar voice whispered beside my window right into my ear. He is sitting on a large nearby tree.

"Ahhhh!!!"

"Good morning, my princess"

"Your highness, Beiying Su Wang?! What are you doing here?"

"Just visiting you and greeting you a good morning"

"In the girl's dorm?"

"I'm in a hurry actually and I'll be leaving today...I'm going to ask you again, will you come with me?"

He still hasn't given up!

"No..."

I replied to him.

"If that is your answer, then I will go home today without you then"

He sighed giving me a rare soft smile.

"I'll be back next year to ask you that again! See you next year, my future bride"

Didn't he alaready give up?!

"Future bride? What do you mea--"

I was about to ask him what he meant about that when I clearly said that I'm not interested in marrying him, when he suddenly gave me a quick kiss on my right cheek.

"Take care"

He then transforms into a large hawk and leave.

What the heck just happened?!

He kissed me on my cheek!!

I was completely frozen on the spot, even while I'm in our class. I was literally frozen like a statue.

I'm now like a zombie walking on the hallway when I bumped into someone for spacing out again.

"Sorry..."

I look up and saw that it was Cain!!

"You--"

"I apologize, I need to go somewhere!"

I quickly rushed out from his sight by speedwalking.

This time, it looks like I'm the one ignoring him!

I can't face him now that I'm like this!

I don't why but I can't let him know the second prince kissed me! Even if it is just on the cheek! A kiss is still a kiss!

I'm really annoyed at how that La Eclaus girl keeps following me around!

I clearly told her I don't want to be friends with her! Why would I need a friend? They'll betray you in the end anyway.

But why am I keep thinking about her and that prince from Donato? Why do I keep getting angry whenever I think of it?

...See? She doesn't even genuinely cares. She is those type of girls who only want to honor and power for their family so they try to get closer to people with high ranking families.

If she really want to do that, she could've join forces with Angeal and not me.
