Attack at the Track

Dear Imena,

With a new relationship, good friends, and good homes, I was happy. But of course, good things don't last forever.

The new track season had started, we were now freshman in high school. I was at a track his track meet, trying to understand what was going on, since I had never even been to a track meet before then. From what I gathered, our school was doing well and I was excited for him, but then I felt a wave of dread and anxiety. I looked around, maybe it was a hybrids presence I was feeling, but it was so much worse.

A shadow passed over the track, the shadow had wings. It had to be him, there aren't birds in the city with wings that big. But before I could act, something crashed down into the track. Everything stopped, I felt everyone's fear and anxiety mixing with my own. I moved to an area where no one could see me and took flight. While in the air, I released the spells and went back to my true form the headed back down. As I flew back down, I saw Andrew slowly walking around, observing the humans. He must have been looking for me, so I dropped down right in front of him.

"Ah, Spirit! How are you? Nice to see you." he said.

"What are you doing here, Andrew? You know you can't be on Earth in your true form, you're scaring them." I told him.

"Spirit, let me put this in terms you can understand. You hurt me, I hurt you. You took something I love, I take something you love." he said, while pointing to the crowd of humans.

Before I could respond, his little minions dropped on from overhead and started to attack the humans. Andrew disappeared, and I felt his presence fade, he was gone. I turned my attention to the humans and I ran to the crowd and started fighting off the minions. Realistically, I could have handled all of those minions by myself, but at the time I was scared of my powers and what they could do. So, I called Adam, he brought a few other council members and they helped me fight off the rest of the minions.

Then I saw Lennon, one of Andrews minions was approaching him. I ran over to him, tackled the minion, and knocked it out. I look back to Lennon and saw another one coming up behind him.

"Lennon, look out!" I yelled and attacked the minion. I disarmed him and tied him to a nearby fence. By the time that was done, all of Andrew's minions were either knocked out or tied up.

"Spirit, we should go. Now." Adam said.

I nodded and followed Adam, but someone grabbed my arm. I looked back to see Lennon. He was staring at me in shock.

"What's going on?"

I looked back at Adam, silently asking if I can tell Lennon the truth. Adam rolled his eyes and nodded. So I told Lennon what I am, what Adam is, about the realms and the Vail, and about Andrew and everything that had just happened moments before.

Lennon was quiet for a moment, then he asked, "So what now?"

"Let's go back to the Vail, Spirit, the other Council members are waiting for us." Adam said and started to walk away.

"Lennon should come with us." I said.

Adam stopped and turned around.

"What?"

"Andrew said he wanted to take away something I love. He said it was the humans but he may have seen me run to protect Lennon. That means he may come after him. At least if Lennon is with us, he's safe." I said.

Adam sighed in annoyance.

"Fine. Your boyfriend can come with us. Just keep him out of trouble."

With that, we opened a portal to the Vail and were gone, and I introduced Lennon to my other home. We met up with the Council members to let them know we were ok and I introduced Lennon. Everyone but James and Adam seemed to like him, but I just dismissed it as them being overprotective.

Luna went to Earth that night to cast a spell on the humans that witnessed the attack that made them forget about it, and Rhea and Gaden repaired the damaged track and erased any evidence of the attack. Back in the Vail, I showed Lennon around my division of the kingdom, and answered his questions about the realms and hybrids. When we got back to my castle, I asked a guard to show Lennon to his room, we hugged and he kissed me on the cheek and he left.
