Once we reached our destination I couldn't stop staring at the place we were supposed to stay. If I had to describe this place in one word, I'll say 'magnificent'.
As we were about to enter I couldn't help but ask. "Hey Margaret, what is this place?"
"Why don't you see for yourself" Margaret smirked.
Above the main gate it was written in huge letters, 'PARADISE GUEST HOUSE'
"So, this is a hotel?"Ken asked "are we supposed to be here? Or did you use your apparition to book us a place here?"
"What? No! Just come inside and see for yourself." Margaret gestured us to get inside.
As we headed inside I stared at the walls in awe. This place was even magnificent from inside. I marveled at the beauty of this place the walls, the ceilings and the well crafted construction of this place. The dark blue walls were covered by aesthetic paintings which had a certain degree of charm in it. It was indeed a paradise.
It was filled with humans too. Few humans passed through me too, which did make me a little uncomfortable. But the view was too awesome to put me down, so I enjoyed it. I have no idea how we get to stay here, I'm pretty sure I would not have been able to afford this place, even as a human.
"Marge, are you sure we are in the right place? That you didn't get lost somewhere?"Ken asks her again in an attempt to tease her.
Margaret however doesn't respond and continues walking, while we continue to follow her.
"Hello everyone, welcome to Paradise." A lady probably in her early to mid twenties comes and greets us. Her attire was little out of time. She was wearing a beautiful lilac A-line gown. With her hair carefully braided and tucked nicely behind her ear, she looked more elegant than anyone I've ever met. She looked as pretty as some princess. Of course her pale features and see-through physique did give away the fact that she was in fact a ghost.
"Hello," I said as I bowed my head a little, which for unknown reason I felt obliged to do so. She gave me a sweet smile in return. "I'm…Chloe"
"Yes I figured, Marge gave me all of your names. You must be Kenneth." She looked at Ken.
"Just call me Ken."He smiled
"And you are Oliver?" She looked at Oliver.
"Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you." Oliver smiled and nodded.
She smiled as well before she continued. "I'm glad you guys came, I have heard so much about you guys these past few hours."
"Really? Wish we could say the same. We have no idea who you are."Ken smiled at her awkwardly.
"Oh where are my manners, let me introduce myself. I'm Antoinette Garcia. I'm the original owner of this place, and have been for almost two centuries. Anything you need feel free to contact me." She said politely.
"I do have one question though, how do you know Marge?"Ken asked.
"We have been friends for a long time." She said.
"Friends?"I blurted out, "Margaret has friends?"
"Why not? I'm such a friendly person" Margaret looked at me and said with a straight face.
I was taken aback by her statement so much that I literally retracted my head backwards, and stared at her in shock. After taking a moment I turned to Oliver and Ken only to see a mirroring of my expression. I have dealt with lots of surprises, but this one has to be the biggest one. Is it the same Margaret that left us behind in her house, or did a long distance teleportation affect her psyche somehow.
"Wait, you own this place? How is that possible if you are dead right. I hope you don't mind me asking." I ask her curious about the scenario and the place. As elegant things were around here, they were a little sketchy.
"Like I said, I'm the original owner, which means when this place was first established it was mine, but I guess now legally it belongs to my progeny." She shrugged, but still maintained her composure.
"Since you people might be staying here, you should familiarize yourself with the rules, I believe." She told us.
"There are rules?" Oliver asked.
"Well of course, both humans humans and ghosts are here, how can it not have rules?" She smiled.
"What an idiot." Margaret mumbled under her breath, which I ignored.
"First of all, your rooms are in the fourth floor. Kindly remain there unless required. That place is restricted to humans due to presence of ghosts."
"Just the fourth floor? Don't humans sneak in there?" I asked her.
"Sometimes they do, but they are always warned not to go there. Usually they end up getting terrified and run away." She chuckled.
"Doesn't that harm the business? I mean if this place is known for being haunted, why would they still come here?" I asked her
"You see, even being haunted is an attraction in itself. Many curious people come here in the hopes they will see a ghost. Then there are some realists, who don't believe in all this haunted nonsense, so they come here to challenge our existence." She chuckles again. "Also this place offers one of the best services in this city, so people definitely love to come here. This ibuilding after all does have an historical significance." She explains.
"Whoa" Ken mumbles.
"Anyways, the second rule, which is the only other rule here, is that you must not go to the building in the situated right next to the garden." She tells us
That was odd, what has a building got to do with anything? We are all ghosts right, whatever was there it couldn't be even dangerous to us, right? Or maybe she is hiding something that she doesn't want us to know.
Anyways, it was already nice of her to let her stay here, I didn't want to get us all kicked out of here by being to inquisitive, so I nodded in agreement.
"I shall leave now." She bowed politely and left.
"That was, surreal. I mean you being friendly, not anything else." Ken snorted.
She rolled her eyes again before continuing. "So, I got us two rooms, 408 and 409. Let's share girls and boys."
My eyes widened, as I reflexively looked at Margaret. "You want me to share a room with you?"
"You got a problem? You can stay with Oliver then, because there is no way I'll share with him." She says flatly.
I consider my options. I mean girls and boys sounded better, but I am more comfortable with Oliver than I am with Margaret. After thinking for a few minutes, I decided to go with Oliver, which he didn't object. Guess we will be roommates for a while.
