Ex- general

"In sorcery, nothing is impossible while possible is impossible"

---

"I wonder what this poetry means," Severus asked while feigning ignorance and confusion.

After listening to this, the old lady's anger subsided a little bit but the next sentence which Severus said, made her nearly pass out from the shock.

" Bloody moon shone high in the sky, I think this line refers to the blood of slaughtered people and a full moon which was on that day. So, was it the night of the full moon that the massacre took place? Am I right grandma?", Severus asked smugly.

However, the old lady refused to answer any of his questions.

" Reflecting the bloody thirst of them. Isn't it just a normal blood spell?" Severus spoke without caring, whether the old lady was going to answer it or not.

"Floating dandelions of Daffodils which took the souls away. Aren't the Daffodils being those flowers which are brought to the grave for offering and paying respect? Daffodil flowers are supposed to take the souls of the dead away. Don't they? I guess this line symbolizes the deaths which took place on that day and the Daffodils dandelions symbolize the souls of those peoples. Am I right again?"

Severus asked while grinning.

The old lady who was quiet and rarely spoke a word through the entire conversation and stealthily brought a dagger out from her pocket and swiftly aimed at Severus' neck

It was a near-death moment for Severus. Today his fast reflexes really saved him.

" Wow, you literally fooled everyone your whole life. I wonder why you didn't marry. Choosing to live your life as a widow. Care to tell grandma? " Severus asked her sweetly.

However, the old lady which was gripped by Severus sweated profusely. She knew that she was of no match to him the moment she missed the aim.

At this moment she deeply regretted inviting him inside.

"Who are you? How do you know about this? No one except me knows about the meaning of that verse. How come you got to know about it? It's impossible." The old lady said with disbelief.

"I can tell you the whole story grandma if you want to know, but for that, you have to reward me and promise me that you won't sneak an attack again on me. Promise", Severus asked sweetly again. His voice was laced with honey but underneath that honey, a fine spear was there which can kill anyone in an instant.

The old lady knew that she needed to surrender but she didn't feel bad for surrendering because she didn't feel any bad intent from him.

"Okay, I promise.", the old lady agreed

"Good"

"Before you tell me anything, I have a question for you," the old lady said while fidgeting.

"Ask"

"How did you get to know that I am not blind?"

'Isn't this a stupid question?" Severus sighed.

'huhhh..."

"I am just too smart grandma. I can see through the lies" Severus said proudly.

Old lady"...."

Noworry"...."

Noworry was speechless and confused at the same time. He never knew that his baby Severus was so intelligent.

"Hey lad how come you solved the verse riddle", noworry asked through his telepathic communication.

"I am just too smart", Severus replied again smugly.

Noworry"...."

[SMART YOU AS*. JUST SPILL THE BEANS YOU SCOUNDREL] Noworry shouted but Severus ignored him.

The old lady was speechless too. Never in her life, she met someone who was so full of themselves.

"Okay, I agree that you are intelligent. But about that song and verse. Everyone in this town knows that I sing that on a regular basis. There wasn't a single soul except me who knew about this secret, so how come you know about this? The old lady asked curiously.

"Well, I just read some books. Everything was there in it", Severus replied languidly.

"Damn. Don't fool me. I know that there is no such book. If you didn't want to tell then don't but please don't lie", the old said sadly.

"I am not lying"

Old lady"...."

"Fine if you want to know more about me or the things related to me, you need to tell me about yourself, "Severus said while exhaling a sigh.

"Fine. I am Severus, the ex-general of Rivera kingdom". He introduced himself.

The old lady's mouth opened widely but no words came out of her mouth

Anything is possible if you believe in it whereas everything is impossible if you don't believe in it.

---

The old lady's expressions turned ugly. She wanted to curse Severus so badly. She shouted angrily at him, " Who in the world are you? Are you a robber or a con artist? What will you gain by tricking an old lady?"

Severus"...."

"No, it doesn't make sense. Even if you are a low-class con star, you shouldn't know the meaning of my verse. Tell me punk, who are you? And how do you know about the verse?" The old lady asked in desperation. The last thing in her life she didn't want to happen was her secret being revealed.

"I am not lying", Severus replied in frustration.

The old lady chuckled. "You want me to believe that you are the ex-general of Rivera kingdom. The infamous general, Severus. Huh…... Do you take me for a fool? The entire Rivera kingdom and the neighboring kingdom knows that the ex-general Severus was assassinated."

"Who are you trying to fool?"

The old lady asked smugly.

Severus didn't know how to explain himself to her so he kept quiet. He felt sad but didn't feel the need to express his sadness to her. He turned his head and surveyed her room. There he saw a wooden bookshelf in which several books were cramped. The shelf looked worn out and the books too were old too. Yellow pages and ripped covers. All in all, they looked spooky and ancient.

Severus wasn't interested in the spooky books, but one thing caught his eyes. Hidden in the last compartment with dusty books, there was a small booklet. Golden theme with 'CURSES AND WILLS' written with brown ink, gave it an aesthetic look. Even if it was with thrash, it shined like gold there.

Severus stood up and went in the direction of the bookshelf. He extended his hand and picked up that book.

The old lady's face lost color and with horror in her eyes, she screamed as she hastily tried to snatch the book from him but to no avail.

"What's this? A book on curses and wills". Severus spoke while flipping its pages.

"You…. u…. Don't you have manners? How can you touch other people's belongings? Give it back to me. Give back", The old lady pleaded desperately.

"Not only curses but...." Severus stopped in mid.

His expressions turned grave, and an intense light flickered inside his eyes. "This book is based on Necromancy spells. Wow, grandma, you were hiding a gem in this trash. What else are you hiding?'

"DOES IT CONCERN YOU? GIVE ME MY BOOK", she asked while barely holding her anger.

Severus laughed. "Really, is it your book? I can't see your name being written anywhere nor even your surname. There isn't any mark of possession. So why do you think I would believe you and give this book back to you?

The old lady didn't have any counters.

She sulked and in a raspy voice asked again," Monster. You are a monster. Tell me who are you? I don't want to die without knowing the name of that person who somehow got to know about my family secret"

"Family secret" Severus murmured.

"I told you that I am an ex-general of Rivera Kingdom, but you aren't believing me. What can I do? You believe in necromancy but don't believe in me. Sigh, Do I look that un-trustworthy? It's true that I died but I wasn't an assassination rather it was a betrayal."

Severus took a pause and stabled his emotions.

Severus looked straight in her eyes and asked her, "Do you know that resurrection is the highest form of necromancy?"

The old lady looked flabbergasted but still nodded her head in acknowledgment.

On receiving her acknowledgment Severus smiled.

The old lady was confused when she saw him smiling but the next second, she gasped. Astonishment, bewilderment, and fear was seen on her face. She looked like she was seeing a living nightmare.

"You mean, you are resurrected? That's impossible, utterly impossible"

Severus sighed," It is and I know it is weird. You don't have to scream weird, weird every time."
