Xie Xie's Determination

Xie Xie decided to go along with Mu Xi to not only motivate her but also to train himself. One month had passed and he had started to slowly recover his strength, and now he wanted to see how far this body could be pushed.

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding*

He slowly fell into a trance of focusing his entire attention on applying the exact amount of pressure. Position his body and slowly adjust his form to perfect the movement. In his past life he wasn't that special, the only redeeming qualities he had were resilience and adaptivity, he saw many other children with more talent or skills than him yet none of them survived in the end.

Sweat started to pour down from his head as his body started to tire out, looking at the score it only read '240'

"Tsk"

Instead of being demoralized by the number, he instead started to speed up. I don't need strength right now, this body wouldn't even be able to gain much in the short term. Instead he started to focus on speed and precision, each strike hit the same spot repeatedly with the same amount of force yet his arms started to move faster and faster.

It burned, he felt the muscles in his arm start to tear and the soreness intensified. He gritted his teeth and continued to smash the metal plate.

"Stronger. I need to become stronger."

He remembered how his mother had died protecting him

He remembered the pain he went through just to survive

He remember how powerless he felt in face of those truly powerful

Clenching the hammer even harder until his veins started to pop he slammed the hammer down once again

"Hah..Hah…"

"Tsk..again"

His vision slowly started to blur as his body started to sway unstably, knowing that he pushed his body beyond its current capabilities he reluctantly stopped. He felt unsatisfied, but even if he wanted to continue, his body screamed out that it couldn't and even moving proved difficult for him now. Still, even with all the signals his body told him he tried to raise the hammer once more.

But before he could fully raise it he felt something soft hold him back

"Stop it Xie Xie, seeing you like this makes me sad"

He didn't need to turn around to know the owner of the voice and somehow just like Mu Xi had developed a reliance on him, he had slowly developed a reliance on her.

His grip weakened from the hammer as he let it go and allowed his body to sink into the embrace of Mu Xi. She was wet from the sweat she had worked up but he didn't mind, as he simply enjoyed her presence. Words weren't needed as he slowly fell asleep in her arms.

Mu Xi now holding onto the sleeping Xie Xie turned towards her Dad

"Dad.. Xie Xie he.. Is he going to be okay?"

"Mm...he'll be okay after a night's rest. He just overworked himself"

Although Mu Chen said those words to pacify his daughter when he looked towards the machine it was in a state of disrepair. The machine read 1423 but the more notable thing was the dent left on the metal plate. It was quite deep and shouldn't be possible unless someone repeatedly struck it in the same place.

Shaking his head, it seemed he had another prodigy on his hands.

"Let's go home Mu Xi"

"Mmm"

Back at Mu Residence:

"Mu Chen...do care to explain what happened to my children?" Yuan Bao'er said with a menacing smile

"Ahh dear, they were simply playing around at the smith"

"Playing around?! YOU CALL THIS PLAYING AROUND?!"

"No..no..dear.. I was wrong"

"Hmph, Mu Chen let me tell you this, if either of them are injured from this you'll regret it."

Gulping Mu Chen could only nod his head as he tried to pacify his wife.

He knew that his wife had a soft spot for children and cared for Xie Xie even though she hadnt known him for long. She had considered him as her own.

Yuan Bao'er washed them both up and applied healing ointment before putting them to sleep. Looking at both of them her angry face turned into a gentle one as she softly sang a lullaby.
