Chapter 13: Cacophony

"Yes, I love Ray" those words echoed within me as the morning came. The sun peeking through the blinds on my window, stabbing at my eyes. "Why~?" summoning forth my anguish, a tiresome grunt swallowed the room. My feet dragging as I struggled from my bed to the mirror. Staring into the mirror, my deprived from sleep emerald eyes reflected. I could feel that today will be terrible. It's written in the depths of those hollow eyes that stared at me. Throughout yesterday, I couldn't play. My trembling hands would stop me. And my aching heart would tempt me from tearing it out.

Was I afraid? Of what? Change?

Choosing not to dwell on it any longer, I turn to the mirror. Noticing my mess of a hair. It was as if snowflakes froze over my head in absurd shapes. I chose not to bother with it. Turning to the doorless closet, I picked out my school uniform and a gray beanie. Placing those over my bed lazily, I take off the gray Star Wars t-shirt I had since yesterday. Leaving it on the floor, I change into the neat white button-up shirt with the school logo. "Oh, right..." until I remembered I haven't bathed.

Ages passed before I could leave my room. Hiding my hair below the beanie and feigning readiness with the uniform, I walk towards the kitchen. My silent barefoot steps greeted by the oh so unusual whining of a certain sovereign.

"Spouse of mine, please, I beg you grant me the privilege of your food." I tried to ignore it, so I walked past the image of a grown man grovelling. Despite this, I turned to look at my mom's sub-zero stare. Her lips curling into a gleeful smile.

"Sure dear, now get rid of your other wife so you can eat," Her words slithering through the room in a malicious tone. My body twitched at the sight, but my dad's brown skin turned pale as the words settled in his ears.

"Bu-but dear spouse of mine, I can't dispose of my bicycle just like that, you know," The sovereign tried his best, but he can't compete against our dictator.

"In that case, hunger away, dear," the eagerness in those words did no justice to their meaning. Tears fell down the sovereign's eyes. Trying to comfort him, I pat him on the back before greeting mother.

"Yata good morning" Where's the earlier devil, I don't know. My mother returned to her usual kind, worried self. Her words evoked a sense of warmth in my otherwise miserable state of mind. I felt her emerald eyes see through me like a book. Expecting nothing less from mother, her arms embraced me. After my body rattled in shock, I quickly calm down to the smell of her blonde locks. Her soft words slowly relishing in my implant.

"Rough night, huh? Something on your mind?" I swear this woman is psychic. Keeping her near me is a liability to my teen angst, so I quickly nod and stray away from her arms. A bright smile sneaked onto her lips as she then walked away. Seeing mom walk towards her room, I estimate a brief window in which she will change out of her black and red Mickey Mouse pajamas. In that short time frame, I take plate and fork off the shelf. Turning to the stove, I catch the pancakes with the corner of my eye. Serving two of them unto a plate, I dash towards the moping sovereign. His head lifting to meet mine, a blinding smile and thumbs up pummelled through his tears. After giving him breakfast, I then receive the plate back at light speed.

"Blessings to both, for I shall depart," His confident grin and cheerful tone swamped the living room as he left for work.

"Oh, so he left for work already, pity" With a hint of disappointment in her voice mother came out of the hallway. She swapped into her business suit. A velvet jacket paired with a velvet skirt. Her blonde locks laid straight as she hinted for us to go. Getting into mother's red mini van it baffled me. The speed at which she changed. Thank god the sovereign has mastered the skill of speed eating. While I have to eat soggy pancakes on the way to school. Despite this being a rare occasion in which I'm driven to school, I wasn't too optimistic. The sun swallowed by the clouds as we approached the gate served for my worry.

"Have a good day, it won't be as bad as you think It'd be," Despite her words being sprinkled with exhaustion. She still mustered a smile, sending me off. I could only sigh at the thought of entering, and shriek at the thought of seeing Ray today.

My feet dragged as I approached the school gates. But as the fiends flooded the gates, I was already running at top gear. The day has barely begun and my one wish is for it to end.
