Lucas Foreman...

I looked around the park after reading the text that said "behind you". For 7 years, that number has never texted me until now. When I spotted the boy I was looking for, he was waving at me with a bright smile on his face. My face lit up as I stood up and ran to him, attacking him with a hug. My friends looked surprised at my sudden action. "Lucas! You're back!" I exclaimed brightly. He chuckled and ruffled my hair. "Business was done back in Paris, so I came back to see my mom and my sister." Lucas smiled as he followed me back to my friends. "Um. I am very confused." Eddie said with his eyebrows knitted together. "Uh, hi. I'm Lucas, Alice's older brother." Lucas introduced himself for me. The others' eyes widened as he ended his sentence. "You have a brother?!" Lucy gasped in shock. I nodded as if it was the most obvious thing ever. "To be honest, I only remembered Lucas after he texted me. I haven't seen this jerk in 7 years." He lightly punched my shoulder as I ended my sentence. "Oh, sorry, I have to go Alice. I'll pay aunt Bella and mom a visit. Bye." Lucas said as he kissed my forehead and jogged to his car. "Gross! Luke!!" I wiped my forehead as I heard him laugh. I sat down, still disgusted. "Well that was certainly interesting." Levi commented and clicked his tongue. "I never knew you had a brother, Alice." Walter spoke up. I shrugged and looked at them. "Well, like I said, I haven't seen Luke in 7 years. So, I never really talked about him." I said casually. After answering a few questions, we changed the topic and ended up talking until 5 PM. Since Levi, Eddie, and I lived close by, we often walked home together.

The walk was quiet at first as we had nothing to talk about. It was awkward until Levi had suddenly tripped over the curb. "Ah! Fuck!" Levi yelled out as he face planted onto the sidewalk. Eddie and I laughed as we picked the boy up from the ground."Are you okay?" Eddie asked still laughing. "What? No! I tripped and fell onto a bloody sidewalk." Levi whined as he wiped the dirt off his clothing. We laughed and continued to walk home.

I opened the door to my house and found my brother sitting on the sofa. "I'm home!" I announced as I closed the door. Lucas looked up at me with a smile. "Hey. Aunt Bella went out to go grocery shopping. Let's catch up." My brother suggested, patting the space next to him. I took my shoes off and jumped onto the couch. My brother turned to look at me and smiled. "Well, you look different." He said dramatically. I rolled my eyes at him. "You look even uglier than before. Last time I saw you, you were 14. But you know what they say, your true beauty sprouts at 21. I guess your true beauty was like a troll's twin all along, Luke." I teased. Lucas smacks my shoulder and scoffs. "Oh please, every girl at my university has practically fallen for me." He pushed his hair back and smiled smugly. I scrunched my nose up in disgust and gagged. "Is that so? How many asked?" I questioned, already knowing what he meant. "Every girl in my class and 10 upperclassmen. That was freshman year alone." He bragged. I giggled and leaned against his shoulder. "Well, you graduated from uni, so I guess nobody's gonna try to get your number anymore." I shrugged and took a sip of the glass of water that was on the table. "Obviously. My girlfriend wouldn't like that." Lucas replied calmly. I choked on the water I was drinking. "You got a girlfriend?!" I said with a wide and slightly proud grin. "5 months ago. If that bitch tries to come after us, she'll have our back. Her dad's a policeman." I felt my mind calm down for a while. I laughed a bit when I realized that Luke was refered to Laura as that bitch. My brother looked at me and smiled warmly. "What?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "It's been a while since I've heard you laugh. I forgot how cute it sounded." He patted my shoulder gently. "Whatever. So, tell me about her." I smirked, hoping to hear about his girlfriend. "We met in class, she's 20, and her name is Erin." Lucas granted my wish. I smiled in victory and stood up. "Save the rest of your stories for later. I'll be in my room if you need me." I yawned as I walked away from the sofa and up to the comfort of my bedroom.

2 hours later~

7:45 PM

I woke up from my nap with shivers running down my spine. It happened again. I let out a sigh as I stared at the ceiling. The world seemed to go almost completely silent. As I laid down in my bed, I only heard the sound of raindrops hitting my window, the clock ticking as seconds that felt like hours passed by, and the eerie silence that dawned upon my bedroom. Something was definitely wrong. I sat up and looked around my room, looking for anything that could hint what caused my discomfort. Once the moonlight hit my face, it clicked. I still had to go to the café. The note. The meet up with Elia and Lucy. It would all happen there. In all honesty, I didn't want to go, but at the same time, I wanted to hear what Laura had to say this time. At this point, hanging out with my friends was the least of my concerns. Everytime Laura would talk to me, she would always say the same thing.

"Stop trying to play the victim. Your poor mother wouldn't like it when she finds out that her daughter was a lying brat."

"Give up already. Your father will fall for me and I can finally get everything I deserve."

I've tried convincing him to run away, but Laura was always one step ahead. She thinks she's the real victim, because I had convinced my dad that she was bad. Laura says she's doing my family a favor by making my father her responsibility, directing all the rumors and scandals to her name. Sorry sweetie, but I don't think blackmail is much of a favor for anyone.

Now you probably think that taking away the house, the car, my scholarship at Holten, our healthcare and insurance privileges and whatnot isn't really blackmail, but the real secret was where all the money for some things came from. If you remember, my ancestor was a gangster, and had quite the amount of money from his work. Great, great, great grandfather Freddie hid his riches and to our luck, his grandson found the money. My great grandfather was practically on his deathbed when he cracked the code to that old safe and handed the money to his son. Now that over £900,000,000 was in the hands of my grandfather, whose child was already in his twenties, the 2 of them divided the inheritance.

Even though, my grandfather didn't see much purpose in having millions anymore, he was still in early fifties and could provide more for his family. My father used his share of the money for the house, the car, and a few other things. That's why we didn't want Laura taking them. Though the money was technically inherited, it originally belonged to Freddie Foreman, who robbed banks and killed people. I think you know what I mean.

I thought about what would happen at the café if I bumped into Laura, then there was a knock on my door. It slowly opened and my brother entered. "Dinner's ready." He informed before walking out and shutting the door. I let out a sigh and stood up to leave.

I dragged myself to the kitchen, trying my best not to fall down the stairs. "There you are. Come on, Alice. Let's eat." My aunt greeted me with a warm smile. I sat down and ate. We sat in awkward silence, only the sounds of silverware hitting our plates could be heard. A few coughs here and there, but other than that, almost nothing. Aunt Bella cleared her throat to break the silence. "So, Lucas, how was Paris?" My brother and I looked up from our plates. We exchanged glances, knowing he might have to tell aunt Bella about Erin. Lucas eyed me, his face telling me that he needed help. I shrugged, not quite sure what to do. After some thought, I shook my head at him, just telling him not to talk about her. "Oh, uh, Paris was great. It was a bit lonely, though, 7 years away from my family was quite rough." Lucas said, trying his best not to stutter. I shoved a spoonful of food into my mouth, to keep myself from laughing. "Isn't university only 4 years? Why were you gone for 7?" Aunt Bella continued to interrogate him. "I didn't have enough money to fly back to London, so I stayed and worked for a bit." My brother replied. "Never knew a bit also meant 3 years." I mumbled sarcastically with a laugh. Lucas shot a glare at me. I guess he heard. "The food's really good Aunt Bella, we've never had pasta for dinner before." I changed the subject almost immediately. My aunt chuckled and looked at Luke. "Well, your brother finally returned from Paris. So to celebrate, I made my famous pasta. Your cousin Max says it's the most ordered food at his restaurant." She bragged. I ate the last bit of food on my plate and stood up to place the dirty dishes in the sink.

I washed my hands before walking back to my room. After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I went to sleep.
