2: Meeting Chaos

Stella's POV

Once I gathered up my sandals I headed back to my place. I share it with-

"STELLLLAA!"

Meet Kathy. My roommate.

She came barreling into me giving me a life threatening hug. I staggered back while trying to hug her back but she pinned my arms down so it was kinda awkward. You know, I'm actually very grateful for her, she's always there for me and she knows how to lighten up a gloomy atmosphere. I've always gravitated towards people with higher energy because it's contagious in a way. We hit it off very well when we first met.

"Hey Kath, you act like you haven't seen me for like a year. I was here this morning."

"I'm codependent."

"Who wouldn't be with me...?" I say sarcastically giving her a wink at the same time.

She scrunched up her face in a mock, "ha-ha" notion.

I snicker at that. "Well, what're you up to for the rest of the day?" I head over to the fridge and dig around to try and find something to eat. Ugh I gotta go shopping.

"I'm gonna go out with friends later tonight." Huh... She just moved here around the same time as me. I'm almost jealous because I wanted to be top priority friend... I know it sounds super weird, I don't know, can you relate? It doesn't surprise me though that she made more friends. She's always talking to people and is always out doing something. I wish I was more like her.

"Oh, am I not good enough for you?" I say sarcastically.

"Basically." She rolls her eyes, but then brightens when she think of her idea. "You should come with!" She says while walking over to the cupboard to grab the Nutella and bread. "You should meet more people!" Ugh, not going there again. Meeting people takes too much energy. Besides it's  hard coming up with something to say sometimes and you know it's going terribly if you start asking questions like, 'what's your favorite color.' I can meet people and I can be very personable, but I just never want to. Call it laziness or call it being anti social and sure maybe it is, but I just never really feel like talking to people sometimes... but I usually like going with Kathy because I feel more comfortable doing things along side her and it does makes easier connections that way.

"Well I might go meet up with Dave..."

"Ugh drop Dave already! He's such a douche! You deserve better." I knew she didn't like him. I've seen what he can be like and I have hope he'll get better or show it more often.

I gave her this look like, come on he's not that bad...

"K fine, bring him along then!"

"I'm not sure about that.... people have a hard time getting along with him..."

"All the more reason to drop him."

I gave her 'drop it' look.

She held up her hands in mock innocence, "OK, OK, I get it. But seriously try and come, it should be fun!"

"OK I'll try and talk him into it. How did you meet these people anyways?"

"I met them at UM." (University of Miami). Oh right.

"What do you guys plan on doing?"

"Probably going to some restaurant bar of a sort, text me if you can come!" She hollers back as she heads to the bathroom.

I knocked on Dave's door and waited for him. The door flings open, "hey."

I walk in subtly as I try to gage the atmosphere around me. "Hey... I haven't seen you fo-"

He pushes me up against the door after it closes and starts kissing me hard on the lips and pulling my waist towards him at the same time. I kiss him back, but it's uncomfortable still. He starts to unbutton my blouse, and my breath catches and I grab his hands to move them away. I'm definitely not ready for this yet. He moves his hands back to my waist and slides down to my butt and squeezes. I gasp and try to push him away.

"Dave... I'm not... I don't..." I try to say in between kisses. His hands are back on my waist but then slides under my shirt as he start to kiss down my neck.

"Dave, stop. I'm not ready for any of this." He just keeps going. I push him away harder this time and he finally backs away.

"Gall, you're no fun. One day you'll stop acting like a prude and I'll bang the hell out of ya." That made my stomach turn and my face go pale.

I just stood there by the door awkwardly silent with my hands clasped tightly together. He walks over to the couch and plops down in front of the TV. "Hey darling, mind grabbing me a beer in the fridge?" I sigh, but head towards the kitchen. I grab a bottle and walk back over and sit down beside him.

He pops open the cap and takes a swig. "So what're you doing here."

"My roommate Kathy-"

"No nuh-uh."

"But I didn't even finish what I was gonna say."

"If it has to do with her, then no she has way too much energy for a person and she annoys the shit out of me."

"Oh come on, she just wants us to go with her friends to some bar tonight and hangout."

"Even worse." He takes another swig.

"I'll pay for your beer..." I smile convincingly at him.

He smirks back at me, "all of them?"

I nod energetically.

He takes another swig. "Fine, but it's all on you."

                      •           •           •

"Hey guysss!" Kathy says as she jogs toward us.

I hug Kathy, but Dave just walks away and doesn't acknowledge her.

"Come on let me introduce you to my peeps." She says while tugging on my arm.

"Hold on lemme check and see how Dave is doing before I leave him for a bit." I know I'll probably get it real good later if I don't make sure he's having fun wherever he is.

She huffs but nods, "OK we're just over here."

I walk over to the bar looking for Dave, but can't quite see him. I lay my hands on the counter and huff louder than intended.

"You look like you're having the time of your life."

I turn around and my eyes go wide, "Ty?"

"Ah you remember my name. I'm flattered." He gives me a wink and walks to my side.

"What're you doing here?"

"What? I can't go out with friends and have fun?"

I gave him this, "oh please" look.

"What're you doing here?" He said giving me an amused look.

"My roommate Kathy invited me so I could have fun and meet some of her friends."

"Kathy's your roommate? Oh cool, I didn't know."

"How do you know her?"

"I'm one of her so-called friends you just mentioned." He leans on his elbow which is now resting on the counter.

"Oh coo-" I was cut off at hearing my name a few seats down from us.

"Keep em comin' just put it on her tab... she's... got it covered..." Dave says in between hiccups. I frown and immediately feel embarrassed. How's he already buzzed?

There's loud laughter and a glass cup crashing to the floor. I look back over to see him laughing hysterically and two beautiful women on either side of him laughing along with him.

I look down at my hands and my eyes tear up slightly. I don't like showing much emotion in public. I feel like crying is weakness or it can show too much of me that I don't want others to see or know about.

I look hesitantly over at Ty and he looks like he's going to blow a fuse. He's staring over at Dave with his hands in fists. "Do you know that douchebag over there?"

"Yes..." I look back down at my hands.

I look back at him to give him a smile but I just see him run his hand through his hair and huff. He looks over at me and smiles back softly.

Right then, Dave comes walking over, still very much buzzed from the few drinks he's consumed already. He wraps his arm around me and squeezes my arm. I cringe just a little.

"So what're you doing talking to my girl?" He says before taking a sip.

"Your girl? What about the other two that were draped all over you?" Ty says gesturing to the other girls laughing in the background acting like slutty bimbos.

Dave tenses at my side and starts to sneer at Ty.

"Don't tell me how to run my life. I can do whatever the hell I want..." he sneers and grabs hold of my waist a little too tight making me gasp slightly in discomfort. "Besides, my baby here doesn't care." He leans in towards my me and snuggles his face into my neck.

I adjusted myself uncomfortably. "Dave stop..." I tried leaning back and pushing him slightly, but he grabbed me harder making me wince.

"Hey dickhead, you're hurting her." Ty is now angrier then ever with his fists bunched up at his sides.

"It's alright I got this..." I say trying to be calm about it all so as not to add more tensions to the scene we're creating.

"No it's not..." Suddenly Ty surges forwards and wraps his hands around Dave's shirt in the front making him let go of me, "she said, stop!" Then he punches him square in the face.

Dave falls to the floor and wipes away the blood that was pouring from his nose.

"You little shit!" He scrambles from the floor and runs at Ty ready to pummel him. Before anymore could happen the bartender gets in the middle of them, stretching his hands out to their chests stopping them from going too far.

"Enough! Get out of here now! Take it somewhere else!"

I'm still standing by them with my hands over my mouth in shock. What the hell just happened?
