"Uhm no no no no, that, no you can't be serious. I'm not some kind of destiny child who is suppose to bring peace to kingdoms I didn't even know existed! What about me being a hybtid? " I get up and start pacing, trying to sort my thoughts out.
"Yes, you are part valkyrie part vampire. I know this is hard to accept but you have to listen to me, I know where Finn is. You have to find- "
" That name. Dacian told me to find him, " I say. I'm getting more panicked by the second.
" Ah, so Dacian knows what awaits you both. That's why he never killed you. Although I am surprised you gave into the darkness so quickly. Finn can help, you have to find him before the second moon rises on the first winter night."
"Why do I have-" We were interrupted by a loud crashing sound coming from outside.
"Wraiths!!" Someone screamed from somewhere.
A fairy flew in through the window screaming, "Chief! Wraiths, they've breached our barrier!"
I stare at the fairy trying to say that it's impossible because the one that was following me couldn't get through but the the chief beat me to it.
"When Valery came through she must not have closed it properly and it found a way through! Hurry, gather all our warriors . Set up the wraith traps and get all our women and children through the back slide, only they can pass through!"
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to... I just wanted to get away!" I put my hand over my mouth to try and stop the flow of tears.
" You didn't summon a wraith to terrorize a dwarf village. This isn't your fault, but you best be getting out of here because I sense they're here for you. Come along, go through here, there'll be a fairy waiting for you with one of our most trusted elk. "
He shoved me through the hole in the tree before I could say anything else. The inside is surprisingly bright and smooth. When I reach the end, gravity took over and I fell head over heals onto the grass. I look up to see the elk but the fairy is no where to be seen.
"What are you waiting for? Get on!" He yells from atop the elk's head.
I scramble to get up and see a small, yellow ball of light clinging to the elk's ears looking very impatient. I climb onto it's back and off we went. I don't know where or for how long the elk ran because I was terrified I would fall of. I just clung to his hair with my eyes closed for what seemed like forever . When he started running slower I opened my eyes and saw that we were on the other side of a giant lake. I didn't realize it had gotten dark but now I could see the beginnings of a few stars. I look around in amazement when all of a sudden everything went yellow!
"Hi, I'm David. The chief told me to help you through some kind of journey that has suddenly befallen you!" he practically screams in my face.
He just grew about six feet in front of me! I lean away from him so that I can see how he looks. A short haired, tiny man with pointy little ears and the most adorable outfit of yellow autumn leaves bound together with, what looks like silk, to form a t-shirt and pants.
"Uhm hi, I'm Valery. I honestly hope you know the way we are suppose to go because I have no idea. The chief just told me to find someone named Finn, I don't even know what he looks like!" I throw my hands in the air and sit down on a rock close to the sparkling, clear, blue waters of the lake. I put my head in my hands and try desperately not to cry.
" Please don't cry, I thought you were suppose to be a killer or something?" He goes to sit on a grass spot beside me but decides better of it when he realizes his clothes would get muddy.
"I am, or... I was. I don't know who I am anymore. After I met Dacian it was like a soothing calm came over me and you know what the worst was? I realized what I've done to all my 'family' and couldn't keep any food down for a month."
"Ahh the chief told me about the prophecy. Dacian, whom I'm assuming is your brother, is part of the light side of your soul. He helps to control the darkness just by being near you, " he replies sympathetically, patting my shoulder.
I wipe the escaped tears on my sleeve and look suspiciously at David. "When did the chief tell you about the prophecy? He only met me, what, 10 minutes ago!"
He looks sheepis and replied with his hands behind his back like a naughty child whose just been caught. "Oops, I wasn't suppose to tell you that. He told me a thousand years ago when I was just a little boy. He told me I would someday help save the world!"
"A thousand... YEARS! How old are you?" I jump up and start pacing, feeling panicked again.
"You ask a lot of questions. Why don't we set up camp and we can talk again tomorrow. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I know the way to your beloved Finn but unfortunately I have no idea of the way he looks. We'll cross that bridge when we get there I suppose!" He says in a high pitched voice.
I agree to stop asking questions, only because I was on the verge of a panic attack. We set up camp under the bright light of the moon. At some point David went to get some food so that we can eat. I was trying to make a fire, when there was a rustling sound coming from the bushes. I looked towards the elk to see how he reacted. Fortunately, he didn't even move an ear so I decide it's save to check it out.I grab a stick just in case and creep towards the bushes. I move some leaves aside and... A unicorn!
