XCIII. Half Woman, Half Fish.

Vanilla and Rowie spotted in the distance what Cookie was signaling with her pink nails.

Between the river and its edge, on the sand and two bushes of spiked grass, a pale figure laid, with the sun being mildly reflected on its lower, scaled fins and tail.

The smell of fresh blood grew stronger, along with a fish smell that mixed with the iron scent of the red liquid.

"A giant fish?" Cookie covered her nose.

"I don't think that any species of fish this big can live inside these waters," Vanilla said. She raised Avrevm Bacvlvm. "Stay with me."

Looking at both left and right, feeling overlooked for some reason, the girls and pup sauntered to the lying corpse ahead.

Some blood was splashed on the long, pointy leaves around. More of it mixed with the sand on the edge, creating sticky, cherry-toned gunk.

Vanilla took a step closer, and the upper part of the giant fish that bled to death became visible amidst the undergrowth.
