Practice duel

"I asked you to keep watch." Zeno hissed at me. I just mouthed him a 'sorry'. The two boys shift uncomfortably, it's obvious they wanted to be anywhere but with Blaze.

"Hey, you two had to keep going now, right?" The two boys hurriedly walked away without uttering any word.

"Worried I might question your two kids?" Blaze mocked me.

"Anything you need, hon?" I asked him sarcastically.

"First, I need you to keep calling me that." I rolled my eyes at him. You wish. "And just so you know, you already skipped our lessons the day before, and don't tell me you're doing it again." Oh right. This stupid lessons where we just sit in a quiet room without talking nor looking at each other.

"After you." I said without looking at him. Then he started walking and I just followed him.

"We could pull an all-nighter today and tell them you had learned everything over night."

"What!? You're telling me to stay here all night with you? Just so they would believe it?" I looked at him making sure to tell him through my eyes how stupid his idea is.

"Better idea so we can finish this private lessons quickly without being doubted?" He asked, not being bothered by my glares. "Or do you want me to come over your place and stay there overnight? It's up to you, I'm down for both." This jerk, really! If you only knew who you were talking to, you won't have the audacity to smirk at me right now.

I lie down on the floor as surrender, I let myself be comfortable in the cold floor. I didn't bother to look if I'm getting in the way. I think I'm in the middle of the room. I can hear his footsteps nonstop. What in the hell is this guy doing?

"Get up." I just mumbled a no in response and turned to the side where I think he's not standing. I can hear footsteps again. "You're getting up, or I'm getting you up?" His voice now closer to me. I sit up while I opened my eyes, and I come face-to-face with Blaze. His breathing hard and fast, why is that? I stand up and looked around.

"Give me good reasons why I should get up." Blaze also stood up then sit on the table at the middle of the room.

"Show me what you've got." He told me while crossing his legs and resting his intertwined hands above it.

"Why should I?" I asked one eyebrow raised.

"Because I'm bored." He shrugged.

"I'm doing this since I have nothing better to do, not because you're bored." Well, we're going to stay here all-night, might as well do something.

"Whatever you wish, my lady." He gave a slight bow trying to annoy me more. If you knew who I was, you would be bowing all the way to the floor, you rascal! I rolled my eyes at him. Instead of giving him entertainment, I went to the stool beside the table he's sitting at. His eyes followed me all through out then he raised an eyebrow. "I thought you're doing it?"

"That's no fun at all. How about a duel? What do you say?" I smiled at him and tilted my head waiting for an answer. He smirked at me. "Is that a yes or a no?"

"So how do we do this?" I didn't expect him to accept my challenge. I think of an idea on how to make this duel more interesting.

"We should decide what element should each of us use." I said while tapping my index finger on my chin.

"We're not using four of them?" He asked.

"Why? Scared? Not being able to use all of them immobilizes you?" I mocked him.

"I'm just afraid you'd be at disadvantage." He winked at me then stand up. He got a coin in his pocket then looked at me. "Wings or crown?"

"Wings." That question hits me deeper than he could know. It pains me every time I hear a word related to His Majesty. But I shouldn't be bothered right now, it's just a simple toss coin.

He tossed it in the air and caught it revealing a crown. "I won, you chose first." Huh?

"Is that how it works?" He chuckled in my response.

"I won. So, I get to choose who will choose first."

"Why would you let me choose first? Hey, don't even think of going easy on me." He's belittling me.

"Fine. I'll go with fire." He said in surrender.

"Fire? I was thinking of fire." I pouted.

"That's why I told you that you could pick first! I'll go with another, you use fire." He said, slightly annoyed.

"I told you that's not how it works! I'll choose air, you go with fire." I yelled at him.

"Don't use this as a reason later on when you lose." As if. I just rolled my eyes and hissed at him. Next thing I know, my body felt hot. I looked down and saw the lower end of my shirt burning. What the!? I looked at Blaze, he's holding the material that makes friction for him to produce fire. We faeries can control, but can't create. Unless you are a first-born and your heaven-given powers is to create fire or water.

"You're not supposed to start yet! You're such a cheater!" I yelled while I used air to extinguish the fire in my shirt.

"You know in real scenarios, your enemy won't wait until you're ready." He set fire in the floor, towards me. I dodged it. His fire instantly vanished from the floor. I smiled in delight, this practice room was designed for light activities. The floor, walls, and ceiling are fire proof to avoid severe injuries to the students. Fire could be really dangerous.

We kept exchanging attacks until Blaze got me surrounded with fire. How? He moved the chairs in between the battle then managed to got me in the middle of it before burning them all up. I continued to extinguish the fire with air but he kept fueling it up. I was so stupid to think that he's at a disadvantage since the room was fire proof.

I dropped my body to the ground, feeling defeated. I just frowned without uttering a word. The fire died down and I finally saw the face of my assailant. Marching towards me wearing his victorious grin. I rolled my eyes at him.

Dean won't be so pleased if he found out about this match. All the years he trained me, and I just lost in just no more than ten minutes. Pshh! I should not care if I disappoint him or not, he's the one who disappointed me. I really should've gotten to use fire, I think I could've won then.
