Chapter 17:A Laugh with Charles

The Maids and Butlers arranged the tables in a line, with sliver and purple chairs following to go with them.

Since my Mother was done with her speech, her and my sinister looking father, went and started conversing with the guests. Only for beneficial purposes of course. I don't really think either of my parents really have friends anymore. Especially since the business has been growing.

I guess they just won't afford friendships right now with everything going on. Make sense though, to me they really always have been the loner type.

I took a deep sigh looking down at my dress and when I looked back up I was met with the dark blue eyes of Charles Dickson.

"Bonjour(Hello) Lady Victoria, how are you doing? Is everything alright?" I smiled at Charles with his questions of wary.

Even though there was so much more to figure out about him, the part I did know about Charles though, was that he always opened himself up to me. He always had been friendly and kind even though sometimes I didn't think I deserved it.

I nodded to give him reassurance, "I'm fine now, Charles. Thank you for asking." He returned the smile to me and said, "Well, I'm glad. I want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible here."

He gave me two thumbs up and I chuckled a bit, doing the same to him. This caused him to laugh back and we sat there and enjoyed ourselves, until a rich guy around our age came over and interrupted us.

"Ahem, excuse me, you two, hope I'm not interrupting or anything. But, the table is set and I was wondering Lady. Victoria, if you would like to join me and my twin sister at the table?"

My brown face went into a shocked freeze. My eyes dotting to Charles' and he saw my worried look and he smirked tilting his head to the side a bit. Mouthing, "You got this Coquelicot(Poppy).

I turned back to the rich male and I took a deep breath, "O.of course you're Sir Bertram right? Got your riches off your refined Diamonds?"

Sir Bertram's face lit up in a slight blush, and he nodded, "Yes indeed I am. I'm Bertram and my sister is-!"

"Bellum? Lady.Bellum right?" I said with a confident curiosity, making Bertram a bit off guard. "O.oh I didn't-I supposed you are-well yes. You're right, definitely right in fact."

He looked me up and down with something of appeasement in his eyes.

"You know a little something about us, high up folk huh Lady.Victoria?"

I nodded, "Well yeah just what I'm supposed to know." Bertram nodded to that statement and held out his arm to me.

I cautiously took his firm arm while looking back at Charles and he waved and said, "I'll catch up with you later, Lady.Victoria! Make sure to have fun!"

I turned my Ginger-head back ahead, glancing at Sir Bertram and I smiled awkwardly walking forward.

This was going to be interesting, I thought to myself.
