"I love you. You're mine. I'll kill any bastard who tries to take you from me."

The vast dining hall, which housed hundreds of students and the teachers thrice each day, echoed a bit louder tonight with the excited chatter of the students. Maybe the eagerness of recounting their first visit to Hogsmeade of the current school year with their friends took over their tiredness but not hunger. No! Never could their longing for food be diminished as the young adults ate voraciously with unparalleled vigor causing the plates to empty faster than usual and get refilled twice or thrice.
In this sea of starving students sat a Veela and his mate, both undergoing the same grilling process by their respective friends to spill everything out about their first date. The couple answered guardedly, carefully omitting out the parts they didn't want others to know. Can't let them know everything now, could they? So they graciously kept a few details to themselves. But of course, Hermione had already told Ginny everything, even the smallest minutiae.
As Draco finished the last few bites of his meal, he noticed a certain Gryffindor getting too close to Hermione, making him grind his teeth in anger. He couldn't understand why his possessiveness only seemed to increase as time passed and he grew closer with Hermione. It was becoming harder to keep it in control and not giving in to it.
He knew if he didn't, then it will only create problems between him and Hermione in the future. That was unacceptable, so he decided to keep males at a distance from his mate in a more covert manner.
When the students started exiting the hallway and retire to their dorms, he stood upon seeing Hermione get up and walk towards the exit with her friends. Blaise instinctively followed his friend, rubbing his full tummy.
On seeing who Hermione was talking with, Draco put up forced, very fake smile on his face. He paved through the crowd before forcing himself between the two, effectively separating them and placing his arm around his mate's shoulders.
"Wha-" Hermione gaped, seeing his audacity of surprising her like that when he knew full well she could have stupefied him had she not been familiar with his touch.
"Hermione! A lovely meal, wasn't it? I found myself enjoying those tarts a bit too much, even though they were a tad too sweet for me," he started before pretending like he hadn't noticed the person she was conversing with before.
"Oh, Hello! I didn't quite see you there. Elan, right?" Draco asked a bit too cheerfully, feigning innocent naivete.
Hermione saw right through it, though, as she narrowed her eyes.
Ivan gritted his teeth at the rude intruder before spitting out, "It's Ivan."
"Oh, I apologize, my mistake," he did not look sorry at all, "We haven't met before. I am Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."
" We've met before though admittedly I didn't know your name last time, only remembered you as the kooky blonde, don't mind. It's just because your behavior was quite outlandish that day at the Quidditch field." Ivan smirked, playing Draco's game with him.
Draco dismissed his annotation with a light chuckle and pulled his infamous smirk at his lips before replying, "Fair enough. Not knowing you previously, I had presumed you to be a pervert getting too handsy with my girl," his gaze darkened as he pulled Hermione into his sturdy chest, his hands firmly around her petite waist.
"You see, I don't like annoying pests hovering near Hermione. Can't say I blame them since my girl is so lovely, but I don't mind squashing them like the bugs they are."
Thus, a smoldering staring contest began between the two blondes- intense grey orbs clashing with blue- while a pair of chocolate orbs rapidly went back and forth, gazing at them both as the brunette stood trapped between the two egotistic males.
Harry, Hermione, and Ginny had noticed the lag of their missing friends when they had proceeded forward, absorbed in their conversation.
Retracing their steps, they returned to the gates of the dining hall only to find it empty with no teachers and students except for four of their acquaintances. Two blondes immersed in an intense staring battle, their friend in between them, leaning more towards the taller one of the two who had his arms secured around her. They also saw a dark-haired boy who stood a bit behind the trio, blankly staring at the three as he looked unsure of the scene playing in front of him.
They didn't know that mentally Blaise was all ready to cower under one of the four huge tables in the dining hall. He was scared of one blonde and anxious for the other.
Hermione felt like she was going to explode with the high levels of testosterone surrounding her. It seemed like the two had completely forgotten about her existence as she continued to imagine levitating them upside down with their arms glue around each other and spinning them like a top in her mind.
Harry, Ron, and Ginny moved forward closer to the area on the verge of becoming a battleground. Ginny coughed awkwardly, causing the two blonde boys to break out of their trance.
"Can anyone explain what's going on here?" Harry questioned with his arms crossed.
"Nothing." Draco and Ivan answered at the same time before returning to glare at each other
Hermione struggled to get out of the hold of her Veela mate, but he didn't seem to support her actions as he tightened it even more.
"Who are you to ask me to stay away from her?" Ivan questioned crossly.
"Her boyfriend," Draco answered as if he was stating a universally known fact.
"He is the one she went on the date with?" Ivan questioned himself, for he had not heard Hermione mention the name of her date when her friends were grilling her with questions since they already knew him.
"Whoa! Hold up? When did this happen? You never stated anything about this before Mione'" Ron inquired, baffled. Not like he had any problem with it. He had somewhat accepted Draco and began to view him from beyond just the perspective of an old enemy.
Ginny was already aware of this particular elevation even though Hermione herself had been a bit unsure because Draco hadn't termed the relation between them before. Not clear enough, anyways.
Harry stayed in his passive stance even with the disclosure of this new information deep in thought.
Draco was perplexed with Ron's question.
'Hermione didn't tell them? Why would she want to hide this fact?' he asked himself before turning back towards the Weasel-ly, he corrected himself mentally. Old habits die hard.
Hermione, on the other hand, contemplated her answer.
"I forgot?" her reply sounded more like a question.
Before anyone else could say anything else, they were interrupted by the drawling voice of a stranger.
"Well, well. Isn't this interesting."
