Chapter 31: Before the trip (2)

In consideration of their off school activities, Nelson let them out early. Like he didn't make them go to their room and only sent a message of them to take care.

By now the students of class 1B are already immune to this whimsical attitude of this teacher of theirs. So far there was no real class for this subject. They were just subjected to various exercises and torment, things like discussions and other things that are normal to the other classes are basically non-existent.

With indifference on their faces, the students once again check their luggage. Once certain that everything is in order, they all set out with a special permit to go out.

Leila and co. are not alike most of their classmates. They cannot leave until the faculty member that will accompany them comes. Like they have an hour vacant before they can go.

"It's soooo boring!" Khelly said as she stretched her limbs.

They are still in their room, all bored out of their minds. Khelly was especially so. She just can't stop playing her fingers as she counts out loud.

Harvey was annoyed with the noise around him and put on his earphone to isolate himself. Ryan on the other hand decided to play with the materials he bought along (Leila wonders why he wasn't called to the office with some or most of them being highly explosive). Sophie busied herself with the activities on their textbooks, answering those she understood in advance.

Leila was as bored as them. Though she had some good communication with the surrounding Mana. Overall she just monitored everything that is happening around them.

Everything is quiet(excluding Khelly's counting), but it's harmonious.

This harmony was broken when Ryan asked a question.

"Who do guys think will be the teacher that will accompany us?" Ryan pondered and in the same time asking everyone.

"I dunno. But hopefully not Ms. Rebecca." Sophie answered as she closed their Science textbook. "Imagine not able to do whatever we want with her around."

Her words are met with nods and all. They all somehow agree with Sophie's sentiment. It brings them chills just thinking about it.

Leila feeling a bit mischievous broke their fantasy of not having Ms. Rebecca as their overseer.

"It's Ms. Rebecca." Leila said off handedly.

Khelly felt a deja vu with how Leila answered Ryan's pondering. But according to familiarity she felt, her world seems to have collapsed too suddenly.

Harvey somehow heard Leila's answer and wondered what was happening. He lowered the volume to check what was happening. But judging with his team's faces, he somehow deduced with their look of despair what it was. He then put down his earphone and asked them what was up.

Ryan and Sophie told him what they were talking about. Though they are not as affected as Khelly, they are still spooked by the said possibility.

"So you guys got this scared with Leila's answer? It's just a guess not a fact." Harvey said with contempt as he casted Khelly his gaze.

"You just didn't know the significance of Leila's words at all!" Khelly said as she went into hysterics.

"It's just a guess. Not a fact." Harvey said as he once again emphasized his point.

"I once thought so too. But since that day I questioned Leila's words I was always proven wrong! If you're in my position will you not act like me?" Khelly said as she mumbled denials underneath her breath.

Somehow Ryan and Sophie turned their head to Leila, trying to seek confirmation of Khelly's claims. But the girl is not minding them, she's staring at the unknown thoughts and all not readable at all.

Harvey and Khelly had an argument over this and no longer minded the others in the room. With the knowledge that it was only them in there, they no longer minded their volume and had a screaming match. If a person who doesn't know their normal interactions were to see them now, they'll think that a murder is about to happen next with how intense it is.

With the amount of interactions they had with each other, Ryan and Sophie had developed some immunity with it. They now learnt to ignore the two during the times they had their moments.

"Leila are you sure of your guess awhile ago?" Sophie asked. She is kind of curious with how Khelly seems to take it as a fact.

"Well if nothing goes wrong, I'm sure it will be Ms. Rebecca who will accompany us." Leila basically just told them of what she thinks. "She was the one who I met before class. And I also saw a note in the teachers' bulletin with her name beside Harvey's."

"It seems that we will have to watch ourselves in entirety of this trip." Sophie said as she felt that she jinxed the whole group with her words earlier.

Nothing could they do about it if it was already set anyway. They could only behave contrary to what they planned at the beginning.

"I'll be responsible with our materials." Ryan suddenly said. The boy felt that he needed to take precautions with their luggage as he motioned the girls to the shouting pair. "If they are going at it even in our training, I'm afraid that we'll be losing our baggage at this rate."

Sophie shared the same concern and volunteered to help if things do come to that.

Leila told them it's not something worth being overly concerned with. She told them that the two are responsible when needed. If they are to be irresponsible on her watch, she'll be teaching them about responsibility personally .

The two shouting pairs felt a chill on their backs that their argument was put into a stop. Like it's screamed by their instincts, they made a silent cease fire. It was like if they went on, they would be subjected to some sort of personal horror.

Like some sort of timing, they heard footsteps going near their room. Guessing that it might be their advisor, they took their luggages and mentally prepared themselves about to leave the moment they were given a go signal.

Like Leila had said it's really Ms. Rebecca. She had a knapsack on her, probably containing her necessities. She then told them they can now depart.

They all nod in confirmation and follow her out. Though Harvey informed her of their plans of making a detour to the mall to buy some gifts for the owner of the property they will be going to. Which the teacher was fine with as she said that she'll have to bring some things for them too.

They took some quick purchases at the mall and then took the earliest train to Leila's home. Upon arriving, they were welcomed by Deliah. They were invited to have some of her cooking before they left, which they declined to do in case they might just vomit it out when they arrived at their destination.

Deliah was prepared to be declined. Instead she offered them to bring her food along. She said it will solve their stomach problems should they not prepare enough time to prepare their food. She even put them in a special container that preserves the food for a long period of time. And out of politeness they all accepted it.

After some exchange of words, Leila told them that they could go now should they wanted to. Apparently Deliah had already prepared the array an hour ago and is now fully operational. If they wanted to take a bathroom break or something they can still have some now before they go.

Ryan needed to go to the bathroom, so they got some time to spare. Rebecca went to Deliah to talk about something in privacy. So the kids are left in the living room.

Not that their advisor's presence is unwelcomed, but it's just that they just can't help tensing with her presence.

After a few moments, Ryan came back with a face that says mission success. He noticed the lack of their teacher, but said nothing about it. His group was once again taking their things with them. Leila seems to know that their teacher is also coming back and told them to brace themselves as they are going any minute now.

True to her words, Ms. Rebecca came back and Leila told them all to follow her. She led them to the basement where a magnificent array was running.

Instructing everyone to take some precautions and where they should be positioned, Leila then inputted some of her mana in the array. She set the coordinates to the huge backyard of her grandparents. It's the most stable place she knew they could land on.

Confirming that everything is in order, she once again made sure that everything is in place. For safety sake, no matter how confident Leila is she won't want any mistakes on their transportation. Life is on line after all.

When they are all sure that everything is fine. They followed Leila's instructions and with a flash of light they disappeared to where they were standing.
