Jiminie took a few days to choose the new abode. I could see him mulling over each house carefully, reading the details given by Sebastian with rapt attention. He sat at the desk with a pen in hand, crossing out whatever that he didn't like and finally, he sat me down to give me his decision.
He opened the folder, flipped through pages and pages, showing me the red marks and question marks that filled the pages. Finally, he settled on a page and showed me the one that he liked out of all the houses I had picked.
"This one," he said as he pointed to the house.
It was a nice house, secluded enough that we had our own privacy and large enough that we could live comfortably. There were enough rooms for us to have our own library, game room and other things so he picked a good house.
"Okay."
He made a sound of confusion.
"It's a good choice," I said. "Do you want to go furniture shopping? We can go take a look at the house first before we go see what we need for the house."
"What do you mean? Can we go see the house already?" he asked.
"Yeah," I replied. I took the folder from his hands, flipped through the pages until I saw a number two drawn on the front page of a new house and looked up at him. "We can get this house for you."
"Why?"
"In case of anything."
"What do you mean?"
I looked at him. "If you want to be away for awhile, this place can be your second house," I explained. "A place to be away from everything."
"You mean away from you?"
I nod.
"Why would I need this?" he asked. "Why would I want to be away from you, baby?"
"Sometimes things might feel overwhelming for you and sometimes you would want a place to yourself," I explained. "I won't have to find you everywhere because I know you'd be safe."
"Baby …"
"It's serious to me," I said. "We're two individuals, sometimes we have misunderstandings and if we aren't able to solve the problem together, we might need a breather. All I want is for you to go to a place that I know you'd be safe at. A protected place."
He looked at me for the longest time, seemingly hesitant in agreeing and I held his hand. "Just trust me on this, okay?"
He finally nods.
.
"Have you decided if you want to continue studying or if you want to start working, love?" I asked.
We were on the bed cuddling, I was being squished to the mattress as the boy laid on top of me, his head was pressed next to my neck. It was one of his favourite cuddling positions. Adjusting a little, he rested his head underneath my neck so he could speak with ease.
"I'm enrolling for a master's degree. I'm waiting for the application to open so I can apply," he answered. "It'll be another two years of school and then I'll work."
"Where are you planning to work, kitten?"
"I thought you'd want me to work in your company."
"I won't force you to join," I answered. "I thought you might want to gain experience at another company."
"No, I don't think I will. I'll join your company, baby," he replied. "Right after I complete my master's."
"Alright," I said.
"That's it?"
"Yes?" I asked in confusion. "What were you expecting?"
"I thought you'd press for more information."
"No," I answered. "You should start preparing for your resume."
"Baby, can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"What do you remember about your parents?"
Parents huh? It's been awhile since I've thought about them and it's been centuries since anyone ever asked about them. Jiminie stirred a little when I didn't answer and he raised himself a little to look at me, as if checking on my reaction. I looked at him, gave him a smile to reassure that I was fine.
"It's been awhile since I thought about them," I said softly.
"What were they like?"
"Loving and in love," I replied. "Though they were royalty, their love was warm, kind and they treated everyone equally. Everyone under their rule flourished, and they spent most of the time solving problems and creating relations with everyone that each clan member was loyal to a fault."
"I would've loved to meet them."
"They would've loved you."
"Will they?"
"Yes, they would," I said as I squeezed him closer to me. "I know they would."
He chuckled.
"I miss them though," I admitted. "I should visit their graves soon. They might be mad at me for not visiting."
"Why didn't you, baby?"
"I had more pressing matters to deal with."
"Like what?"
"You."
He burst into laughter. "Don't be cheesy!"
"I wasn't."
