"P-Prince Adam?" I stuttered embarrassingly.
He smiled genuinely down at me. I had to look away he had a smile that would leave you weak in the knees.
"Come on get in." he said motioning for the running car.
I hesitantly made my way over to the car before climbing in the back seat he followed suit shutting the door after him. I was aware of the closeness between us the way his knee was absentmindedly touching my mine. Ok Victoria pull yourself together I mean yeah your only sitting next to Prince Adam eligible bachelor not that he would have any interest in you I mean come on, he only dates beautiful girls with money. That is not you and why are you even thinking of such things. This isn't some fairy tail about a prince falling in love with some common nobody. Princes fall in love with princess like Princess and the Pea or Swan Lake end of story not common girls who've been reduced to such a lowly status in her on home. Wait those were fairytales too oh well the point has been made all you have to do is stop thinking about him as boyfriend material. I mentally sighed.
"Are you okay"
As if I could stop thinking about it we were in a confined space he was sitting right next to me these kind of things only happen in stories. I sighed again my soaked clothes were making it very uncomfortable.
"Oww!" I yelped. "Did you just flick me?"
"Yes" he grinned down at me.
I stared up angrily at him.
"What was it for?" I asked rubbing the tip of my nose trying to rid it of the stinging sensation.
"You were ignoring me and I was talking to you, but you just kept ignoring me like I was not even there"
"Oh I'm sorry are your feeling hurt?" I asked feigning like it bothered me.
" A little"
"Tough titties" I remarked secretly enjoying the expression on his face what I wouldn't do for a camera right now. To have a picture of that wide eyed looking man with his mouth slightly agape would be marvelous.
I turned back to look at out the window I actually should apologize.
"I'm sorry… for messing up your seats I'll pay to have them cleaned even though it's somewhat your fault for putting me in this position."
"If that's your idea of an apology for being rude to me it is surely not accepted."
We pulled to a stop in front of my house.
It wasn't my idea of an apology because I wasn't apologizing. I grabbed my basket and began to exit the car with… wait for it Prince Adam following behind me.
I turned and stared up at him his black umbrella blocking the rain from getting on him.
"What are you doing?" I asked impatiently
"I have a prior engagement here not that it's any of your business."
If I wasn't mistaken I think he almost said that snottily and haughtily at the same time, it was a good thing I didn't care for him because if I did his attitude would have put me off him instantly. I didn't back down though.
"Who. Are. You. Here. To. See?"
I enunciated each word slowly like he was some little kid who needed to be talked to because they were having a tantrum.
"Marias out of town so what business do you have here and please don't tell me you're here to see Brian."
With a smirk on his face he said the exact words I so didn't want to here.
"I'm here to see Brian not that I need to be telling you, you're just the help."
"What little opinion I had of you before has gone out the window."
Just the help! Who did he think he was. Oh wait he knew who he was, I could have slapped him I was so angry, for all he knew I was the help. It didn't do any good to get angry it wasn't like I could do anything he was a future king I was nobody. So instead,
I made a turn to head for the door. Increasingly aware of how wet I had become from standing in the pouring rain. He didn't even bother to share his umbrella, yeah he may have looks but he was certainly no gentleman. His voiced followed me up the stairs to the front door which I opened.
"Oh I'm honored you have an opinion of me."
"Don't be fooled I don't have an opinion of you. I'm not even registering you as even being here. As far as I'm concerned you'll handle your business and be gone." I slipped out of my shoes and socks. I would have to come back for them later. I made a dash for the kitchen not wanting to make puddles all over the house. I put up the groceries from the farmers market and ran up to my room. As for lunch it would have to wait I needed to shower and put on different clothing. I went to my bathroom, turned on the shower and stripped of my soaking wet clothes when the water was warm enough. I stepped and washed away what felt like years of dirt and grime off my body and hair. I let the water run over me for awhile before deciding it was truly time to get out of the shower. I turned off the water, stepped from the shower and grabbed my robe to put on. I towel dried my hair and through it in a messy bun. I threw on a oversized sweatshirt that hung loosely off one shoulder and a pair of black skinny jeans and my fuzzy house slippers. If I was lucky he was gone already. No such luck I passed the TV room, Brian & Zacky's room to goof around in and heard voices coming from within. Maria and I didn't watch TV much so we were hardly ever in there. I made my way to the foyer to pick up my soaking socks and shoes which were sitting in a puddle of rain water. I grabbed them and took them to the laundry room and sat them in my hamper I would get to washing it later, right know I needed to get started on a late lunch. I walked into the kitchen and took out hamburger meat and began shaping it into round circles. I grabbed a skillet that was hanging above my head and set it on the stove. Once it started to heat up I poured a little water in so the burger wouldn't burn. I moved around the kitchen getting other things out going over to flip the burgers or take them out every so often. I poured fries on a baking pan and stuck them in the oven to cook. In my opinion baked fries were better than fried ones, I mean seriously think of all the grease. Once everything was done and I had made the salad and toasted the buns for the burgers, I began making plates.
"So this is what smells so good."
"OH GOD!" I shouted nearly jumping out of my skin.
I turned to see Adam standing in the door with his arms crossed over his chest wearing a satisfied smirk at nearly managing to scare me to death.
God what was his problem did he plan on getting on my nerves or was that just some added bonus. Or maybe I was just overreacting a bit. Nope… I'm going with some unknown added bonus.
