Coming Undone

"What was that all about?"

"What was what all about?"

"You know I know that you know what I'm referring too." she says sending me a death glare.

"Okay first of all just wow, I'm not sure how you made that make sense in your head," I say laughing out loud at her. She sticks her tongue out and gives me the finger.

"Second,"Elle says making sure I continue on.

"Second that was Maria being maria, but I'm so sick and tired of it Elle," I pause and take a deep breath cause I'm sure I am about to have an emotional breakdown. I fan my eyes cause I can feel the tears welling behind them. She wraps her arm around me and pushes the button for the elevator. "You don't know Elle, you don't-," I'm about to say more when the elevator door open and there were people inside. We step on silently.

We ride the elevator down to the lobby and get off I'm heading for the front doors, but Elle pulls me off to the side and we walk down a hallway and out of a side exit.

"Come on we're not gonna go to that match I've somewhere we can go that I know we'll make you feel better."

She pulls me off toward an empty golf cart and we climb inside. Somehow lady luck is still on my side the key are still in the cart. She starts the cart and we drive off toward the exit of the club. We make our way down the stretch of the road leading back toward the horse stables. I'm reminded of when I was younger and Elle and I would get to see the horses and ride them around. Those were simpler happier times. We pull to a stop in front of a gate, I get out of the cart and head over to the gate and unlock it. Elle pulls through the gate and waits for me to lock it I climb back into the cart and she continues on. After about another five minutes of driving we pull into a parking space. We're the only cart up here everyone else is most likely at the polo match. We walked quietly through the stable the smell of horses was overpowering, along with the smell of hay. I stopped at horse named butterscotch, it's fur the very color of its name. I rubbed my hand down its mane softly, "You're a good girl/ boy aren't you." I said stumbling over the gender of the horse. I gave a quiet chuckle to myself that sounded very bitter.

"So what don't I know?"

I looked up to see Elle leaned up against the door of the horses stall arms crossed in a defensive manner. I rolled my eyes and looked away from her I was already over the drama and certainly over whatever punishment maria thought suitable for me.

"Come on Victoria tell me."

"So I tell you and then what Elle," I said snapping my eyes to her. " I'll tell you what you'll feel sorry for me and you'll tell me that I need to leave. Where do I go Elle I don't have anyone." The tears from earlier I had swallowed down suddenly broke like shoddily built dams, and they were flowing with a vengeance. Elle put her hand on my shoulder but I shook it off and stepped away from her and slid to the ground of the stable floor. It was like the reality that my life was a fucking shit show finally caught to me. Had I been deluding myself this whole time thinking that somehow everything was going to magically get better once I inherited my fathers money his company. I still had no one and no amount of money could fix that.

"That's not true Victoria." I heard Elle say. " Look at me." she said quietly. I ignored and continued crying in to my hands. "Fucking look at me Victoria." she yelled in my ear startling me. I made an attempt to wipe tears and snot off my face before I stared at her crouched down next to me. "It's not true whatever maria said or anything she has ever said will be true. I love you you're the sister I never had and I will always be here for you like-wise my mom and father they love you like a daughter, don't forget that. Like I've been saying for forever now you can live with me and my parents don't you dare worry about being a fucking burden to anyone either. For once you're going to think about you and you're happiness and not brush it under a fucking rug and letting people step on it. Do you understand me?"

I stared up at Elle my eyes probably wide as saucers, I had never seen her so riled up about anything before. Usually she was all calm, cool, and collected, and I was the one freaking out.

"Stop staring at me like you're and idiot and answers the damn question."

"I understand you." I said smiling up at her through fresh fallen tears.

"Good and let's get something straight don't pull away from me again like I'm some lecherous person, you're going to except my love always damn it. Now lets go my thighs are killing me from crouching down so long, like a freaking work out." I laughed as she stood up and held out her hand to help me stand.

"Ha okay won't happen again."

"Also just so you know, I know there's more you're not telling me but with you coming to live me now I'll get it out of you." she smiled and linked arms with me as we made our way out of the stable.

We drove back to the club but not before Elle gave me a head to toe inspection to make sure I looked okay post-cry and my dress had no dirt on it. We pulled back into the lot where we found the golf cart and walked around to the front of the building. Where I was met with a giant surprise.

"Is that Adam?" Elle asked pointing like someone who wanted to be spotted.

"Yes yes it is now could you be a little more inconspicuous I'm trying not to be seen."

"Too late hes walking over and I thought you told me you had a good time on your date with him."

"I did but -."

"Hi Adam fancy seeing you here."

"Hi Elle, Victoria how have you been we haven't spoken since our date."

"Was it a date? I thought it was two acquaintances getting to know each other to become friends." I said smiling up at him.

"Well you know what know means in the biblical sense don't you?" Elle said butting in. " I hope you weren't doing that kind of knowing were you tori."

"Shut up Elle" I said still smiling staring up Adam, who wore a smirk of his own.

"Are you all headed inside to watch the match?"

"Um no we're leaving actually. Elle and I have some things to take care of."

"Well that's to bad for me with you here this might have actually been enjoyable."

"Oh well some other time maybe."

"I'm holding you too that." he said bending down to kiss my cheek.

"Right well okay bye." I said hastily turning around grabbing Elle by the arm and pulling her away.

"Looks like we have so much to talk about."
