The special card owned by the Devil

"And who will do all the fun prototype tests?" He cocked his head as he mocked me.

"Me." I frown at the realization. Park Daisuke didn't trust anyone, except his favourite henchmen. Even if the devil picked my design, he would still give me all the grunt work. Progressing in the design department at Sunnies Reach was going to be tougher than I thought.

----------

I stared at the clock in the distance, regretting ever putting so much work into my design. Park Daisuke simply gave all my efforts to Seol Soobin and left me with all the grunt work. To me, he had gone from babyface devil to babyface devil lord. My tummy rumbled, I had been routinely missing breakfast to get to work on time, making lunch my first meal of the day.

It was finally time for our break. I shut my laptop and stretched as I got out of my seat. Sitting for long hours made my neck stiff. How did Park Daisuke not leave his office for a break; he acted like he was programmed to come in at 7 am and leave at 6 pm every day, maybe he was a robot. That would explain the lacking range of human emotions.

The elevator doors ding at the cafeteria floor and slide open, pouring out a multitude of weary and hungry employees. I never knew this many employees worked at Sunnies Reach till my first Lunch break or Lunch-Rush as my colleagues called it. The cafeteria was packed full of workers from different departments, all meshing and communicating with one another. There was rarely anything good left for those who came late, so I never even bothered with the cafeteria meals. I pressed the elevator button and waited till it got to the lobby floor.

"Cha-cha!" The familiar voice made me groan. Not this guy again. Lee Eiichi waved at me from a bench. My charming angel was quickly becoming an annoying nuisance.

"Don't you have a boss to drive around or something?" I moaned as I walked towards the bus station. Quicking my pace so he would stop following me. But he still tagged along.

He always tagged along. Ever since a week ago, after he saved me from the shoe incident, I'd regularly meet him at the lobby doors.

"Daisuke doesn't eat lunch. He is sensitive about his weight. So I'm free," he smiled. "What will we be eating today, Cha-cha?" He asked, licking his lips.

"Rice." I deadpanned as I watched his expression twist in objection.

"I want pizza," he cried, draping himself on me like he didn't know he weighed a ton.

"Then go buy some, my break ends in 30 minutes. You are wasting my time." I struggled to get away from the lunatic. He blocked my path and rested both hands on my shoulders before brandishing a shiny grey card.

"Do you know what this is?" He beamed, while I leaned in to get a better look at the mystery. "Come on, guess," he nudged his head while grinning cockily. I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know. Please tell me..." I spoke monotonously. He closed his eyes, waiting for me to finish. "...Oh, wise one." I shoved his hands away. "Do I have to say this every time?" he nodded.

"If you don't know something that I know. That makes me wiser than you." He smiled while he patted my head. This guy was as cocky as Park Daisuke was insufferable.

"Fine! What is it?" I pushed his hand off my head.

"This is a special card. With endless resources. Given to special people that work for special people at Sunnies Reach." He beamed.

"Is Park Daisuke your sugar daddy?" I scoffed as I reached for my bus pass. His eyes widened.

"Why does your mind always go there?" He tapped his bus pass and sat by my side.

"I can buy anything with this card. It's meant to be used on Daisuke's car emergencies, but if he doesn't know it's all good."

"It's not 'all good,' he will fire you and me for associating with you" I folded my arms.

"Ah! Come on! We can get anything. Even Nobu's Delux Sushi pack, with the freshly cut salmon." Nobu's. Delux. Sushi. Pack? My mouth watered at the thought.

"With...with the cute bento box?" I clutched to the grey card.

"With the really, cute-expensive bento box. With this card, you could even take one home." I was sold.

Nobu was an elitist sushi restaurant. They served in bento boxes that cost $1000 and upwards. From edible bento boxes to solid gold to any and every expensive material. Not because it made sense to eat in them, but because they could. I never dreamed I could stand in front of the restaurant, much less enter and order something.

"This isn't some dine and dash sitch, is it? I won't eat, and you will bail right?" I poked Eiichi's back. He shook his head.

"Believe in the card." He tapped it on my forehead and ushered me into the restaurant.

"I can't believe Park Daisuke trusts you with his card and reservation account at this restaurant." He frowned at my inquisition.

"You think so poorly of me Cha-cha. I'm not some random guy who drives around your manager. He and I went to school together, he is supporting my interests like a good friend" He stretched, beckoning the waiter. I rested back into the cushioned seat.

"giving you a better job would be what a good friend would do" I folded my arms.

"Don't think too badly of Daisuke. He is a busy body and has a terrible mouth, but he's all bark and no bite" He signed something and handed it to the waiter, who bowed and exited the room.

"So, what now? How does the better half dine during their lunch break?" I tapped my fingers on the table, eager to order.

"Like this." he clapped his hands, and two waiters walk into the room, offering us blindfolds.

"Since you signed the waiver, Mr. and Mrs. Park, we will begin the blindfolded eating competition." The first waiter announces as more waiters pour into the room, carrying different types of sushi.

"Blind eating what? What waiver? Mr. and Mrs. who?" I reached for Eiichi's shirt collar. Shaking him to tell me the truth, but he just laughed as the waiters fastened on our blindfolds.

Ready. Set. Eat!
