"We should apologize for crashing at her place," Eiichi shouted over the radio. I turned to look out the car window and tried to ignore Eiichi and the subject of getting piss-drunk with my subordinate last night. If I didn't think about what had happened, then maybe, just maybe it never did. "Daisuke, you look so cute when you're trying to ignore me." I mockingly chuckled at his statement. Eiichi had been making fun of my childlike features from the very first day we met.
"You can apologize alone. I don't want to talk about it anymore." I had taken enough pills to sedate a horse, but somehow a 25 minutes drive with Eiichi was bringing my headache back.
"It's not like we ever started talking about it. Come on, let's apologize and do something nice for her." He tapped the steering wheel.
"Were you always this needy in uni? Can't there be a day where you just do one of your jobs quietly." I responded to his insistent bitching. "Besides I should be the one receiving an apology." I folded my arms.
"Ah, I forgot. My foul-mouthed little boy has finally graduated into a foul-mouthed man." Eiichi wiped the fake tears from his eyes. I was going to kill this guy one day. "I mean have you ever even been like… you know…together with a..."
"Do you feel like dying today?" I slapped his head.
"I would have preferred it had happened to me, after all, I liked Mizuki first." Eiichi smiled at me.
"You say it as if I like her too." I kicked the back of his chair.
"Whatever you say. Besides, I saw Mizuki first, so you can't have her." He shouted and pouted, I must have rolled my eyes into my head because my migraine was returning.
"Are you twelve? Saw her first my ass! She's our subordinate. I know you don't care about these things, but dating in the office is not allowed. So why don't you just drive me around like you are supposed to."
"So, we can date outside the office?" Eiichi smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"If any girl is willing to date you, I'll shave my head." I laughed.
"Prepare to eat your words, my dear Daisuke. I'm quite a catch, you know." He parked the car at the entrance of the building. I pushed the door open and tossed my briefcase at whatever employee was supposed to carry it today. "Hey, Eiichi..." I turned to him, he was handing the car keys to the valet.
"Yes, Daisuke?"
"Don't you think this is a bit… sudden. With everything that has happened and such." He smiled back at me.
"Tsss! What are you saying now? Didn't you always say I should move on." He scratched his chin. "Don't tell me you are worried about me." He then threw his arms over my shoulder.
"Tsk! Forget I said anything. And don't touch me in public." I shook him off, but he kept chasing after me.
"Ah! Beneath this icy exterior is a warm heart, how could I forget." He pulled me into a hug. The display was attracting the attention of the other employees.
"At some point, I will fire you." I pinched his back and forced him to let go.
"It's not like you pay me anyways." He tapped my head. "Come on let's go get Mizuki something nice to eat, knowing her she'll be rushing here as soon as he wakes up" He beamed at me. I rubbed my temple because he wasn't going to quit tagging along till I agreed.
"We should get her some medicine as well, what was that sushi place she liked again?" I pulled out my phone to make an order and watched as Eiichi's face lit up with a smile.
I had asked Mizuki about last night, and thankfully she had no recollection. So, there was nothing to apologize for, now If Eiichi could just keep quiet, it would be like nothing ever happened. My phone buzzed, and the dreaded caller ID ruined my already horrid mood. I flipped the phone over and tried to ignore the call, hopeful that she would realize I didn't want to speak to her and stop calling me. But then again this was Moon Hana.
I heard a soft knocking at the door and knew who it was.
"Come in."
Mizuki walked into the room, she placed her binder on my desk and paused. If she was awaiting an explanation for earlier, she had better turn around and get out. Her presence was distracting me.
"About earlier during lunch." She started.
"You won't be punished for coming late to work." I shifted my eyes up from my work to look at her.
"It's not about that… I meant," Mizuki tucked her unruly hair behind her ears; someone ought to introduce this woman to a hairbrush. "I wanted to say thank you for the medicine and for lunch."
"Don't thank me, thank Eiichi."
"Obviously. Sorry for disturbing you." She frowned at turned for the door. That's very annoying, why did she say 'obviously' like that? What was so obvious? "Forget I said anything." Mizuki waved her hands and laughed. I looked down at her designs in my hand.
"Sit!" I pointed at the chair opposite me. She turned away from the doors.
"I still have some work I need to complete Park Daisuke." She twiddled her fingers.
"Don't make me say it again." She scurried to the chair.
"Is this about last night…Or because of lunch… I'm sorry for saying 'obviously'. Was it because I hit your head? That was an accident you know." She kept on rambling, I wanted to shove something in her mouth. "You can't fire me, you know. Technically I did nothing wrong." What was she even talking about? "Is this because I forgot that thing?" she scratched her head, then leaned over the desk. "Did I do something embarrassing? should I just ask Eiichi?" She picked up her phone.
"Can you shut up." I rubbed my temple; they were perfect for each other. "Your designs today suck, that's why you are here." I picked up her designs to display the giant circles I had made around her mistakes.
"My designs, suck!" she exclaimed. "I did it as you said. Doesn't that mean your instructions suck." She muttered; I could feel my left eye twitch.
"Like I said? I never told you to crowd the homepage with too much information about the product."
"You said display all the information necessary for the foundation." She leaned forward.
"I said necessary. Are the ingredients in the product that necessary?" I slid the designs back at her.
"The ingredients are necessary, no offence Park Daisuke but what do you even know about women cosmetics?" She smugly replied.
"What do I know? What do you know?" I folded my arms and watched her face heat up from anger.
"I know plenty."
"Could have fooled me…" With your raccoon eyes and chapped lips.
"What's that supposed to mean. I wear makeup sometimes." She slammed her palms on the table. Please… leave my office already.
"Ummm…"
"What!" Mizuki and I turned to the person at the door.
"I'm sorry, I'll come back later." The man shut the door quickly and ran off.
"Do the designs again Mizuki." I turned back to her. She was already packing up the documents on my table.
"Fine, fine." She pushed them into her binder and slammed it shut.
"Can't you do things quietly." She looked up at me.
"Sure, sure. I'll be very quiet." She stomped towards the door.
"And Mizuki I want them completed today." She looked at the clock behind me. Yes, you will have to pull overtime.
"That won't be possible. It's almost closing."
"That's not my business." I waved her away. She glared at me, sighed, then shut the door behind her. Quietly.
