Fighting with the Devil

"A friend?" You could see the sincere look of shock in his eyes and it pissed me off more. The elevator doors binged open and I snatched my bags off the luggage cart.

"A very good friend and we will work on projects together," I added for good measure. Don't you feel stupid Mr. Devil, I have more friends than you. I trotted off to my hotel room, skipping away with glee.

----------

I shut the door behind me and took in the view of the exquisite room. The unit was stocked with a marble kitchen space, a dining area for two, a living room and a master bedroom. It was like a fancy apartment but in a hotel. The bathroom was so shiny and the floor so clean, I laid down on the floor, to feel the cool ground. I would be living here for a week, and it was all thanks to Park Daisuke's negligence.

"Ah, what luxury..." I sighed, rolling on the floor.

"What the fuck are you doing?" A loud voice from the bathroom door brought me back. I looked up to see the face of a very irritated Park Daisuke.

"I should be the one asking that. This is my room." I shut up off the ground.

"You mean my room, right?" He stared at the unit. "I believe this is the room I told you to book for me ?" He looked into the living room and then glared back at me.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." I reached for the tap handle and switched it on. "I need to take a shower and I need you to please leave." He stumped towards me and slammed the tap off.

"Have you finally lost your mind? Why would I pay for a luxury suite for my subordinate." I turned my head and pretended not to hear what he was talking about.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." I turned away and walked towards the kitchen, despite knowing full well what he was talking about.

"Take your shit to the stupid room you booked for me." I winced at his response.

"You can't be serious." Park Daisuke had delegated the workload of booking the rooms and the flights to me. And I took the opportunity to enact my revenge by booking the worst room they had to offer... just for him. "I am not staying in that room." It had the view of a construction site and was very close to the noisy ice machine. "How did you find and enter my room?" I opened the fridge and took out a beer.

"My fridge, my beer." He slammed it close and took the beer out of my hand. "I picked up your key card, and you left the door unlocked." Park Daisuke slammed the bottle on the table, then he pointed to my bags and then the door. "Take your shit and leave. Now!" He scolded.

"This is my room. I booked it. It's mine." His face twisted in loathing.

"Listen here Ho Mizuki, I'm not your pal or your friend, I'm your boss. Get the fuck out, or I'll throw you out." As if I would be threatened by his 'I'm your boss' speech.

I kicked my shoes off and jumped on the bed, ensuring to spread out as much as possible. "Then you are going to have to drag me out because I'm not leaving." I stuck out my tongue. I just wanted to sleep, couldn't he just fuck off and postpone the fight about the room arrangement till tomorrow. But just as I was about to shut my eyes, I felt a hand wrap around my ankles and pull.

"If you insist, I'll toss you out on your ass." He pulled me as I clawed at the sheets.

"I'm not leaving." I kicked off his hand and grabbed the headboard.

"What are you a cat. Freaking let go already." He climbed on the bed and pulled at my waist.

"Sexual harassment. Someone help me! I'm being harassed by my boss, in 'my-own' room." I screamed at the top of my voice, but he kept pulling me not even bothered by my sexual harassment screams.

"Have you no shame?" He let go to catch his breath.

"I should be asking you that. Mistreating a lady like this." He paused to take a look at me, then he laughed heartily. "What?" I let go of the board. "What's so funny?" I inched closer to see what he was bent over laughing at.

"Gotcha." I felt his firm grip fasten quickly around my ankle. Then he pulled me off the bed and picked me up from under my arms. "Lady my ass, you are like a wild animal."

"You can't treat me like this. You can't pick me up like a cat." I kicked trying to force my feet to touch the ground.

"Oh shut up." He swung me around and over his shoulder. I kept kicking and screaming.

"Harassment, I'm being molested. Where the fuck are the people in this hotel?" I could feel his giggles as his shoulders shook. "You think this is funny, don't-cha?" I grabbed his hair. "Wait till I get down from here," I growled. "I'm going to... I'm going to...."

"Sure, sure. Do whatever you like..." He swung the door open and tossed me on the ground. "But do it from outside 'my' room." Then he shut and locked the door before I could run back in.

"My bags, I need my bags. Give me my bags." I pretended to cry while sliding slowly down on the door. I sat there for a few minutes, but he didn't respond. "Ok, how about my shower things. I need to take a shower." I called while banging at the door.

"You should have thought of that before dicking around with me Mizuki. Take a shower in the fountain downstairs." I could hear him switching on the TV. Goddamit, I'm going to kill this man. I kept banging, but he never came to the door.

"Fine. Fine, you win. Give me the keys to the other room, I can't sleep out here." I didn't hear a response, just some shuffling and then he slid a card underneath the door. I picked up the key-card and went off to find the room.

It was literally the next room over.

"Fucking hell!" I screamed, knowing that my asshole-manager was probably laughing. How did I not notice the rooms were beside each other when I booked them. I should have put him on the second floor. I swiped the card and kicked the door open. To my surprise, my bags were in the room, arranged right by a door I assumed was the bathroom. I reached for the door handle, but it didn't budge. I unlocked the knob and tried pushing it, but it still wouldn't open. I looked around the smaller unit which had no kitchen or dining area, and I wanted to weep. All that luxury is being wasted on that asshole.

I texted my devil boss because I was genuinely curious about how my things magically materialized in a different room.

Mizuki: "How did you get my bags into the room?"

Devil Boss (3 min): "There's a door that connects both rooms."

Mizuki (1sec): "It's locked."

Devil Boss (4mins): "I locked it on my side."

Mizuki (1sec): "Unlock it!"

Devil Boss (3mins): " Stop texting me."

Mizuki (1sec): "Unlock it, I forgot something important..."

Devil Boss (3mins): ...

He read the message, but he didn't respond. I took one more look at the door, trying to figure out what he was doing in what could have been the single most beautiful room I had ever seen, but with the sound of the TV, I couldn't hear his movements. I looked down at my feet realizing that I had indeed left something... I had left my shoes in his bedroom.
