School Struggles

Silently I walked to school with Griffin. He was always in his phone doing who knows what. I got a few stares from the vampires that take the same route. I felt my anxiety kick in. I'm about to head into a school I know nothing about. I didn't know anyone either.

Around halfway there the school texted me my schedule.

1st Period: 8:55 - 9:45

Advisory: 9:50 - 10:30

2nd period: 10:35 - 11:25

(break 10 min)

3rd period: 11:35 - 12:25

Lunch: 12:25 - 1:00

4th period: 1:05 - 1:55

5th period: 2:00 - 2:50

6th period: 2:55 - 3:45

I looked it over. I kept doing this for 20 minutes straight. I wasn't going to forget where to go and look like a complete idiot. When we arrived at school I was not ready. "see ya." Griffin said as he turned around. "That's it!?" I tried calling out to him but he was already a couple meters away. Still looking on his phone and not turning back he waved. If anyone was in front of him they would have thought he was crazy. I pouted a little and slowly walked in.

I got a lot of stares. I expected it. I looked and acted almost exactly like them but my pheromones were probably way different from a normal vampires. Pheromones in general were different but mine in this case would have been called "special" to a vampires nose. In other words I'm the unlucky idiot who could have anyone bite me at any moment. I picked up my pace I couldn't handle any more stares it was like they were staring lasers at me.

I arrived at the door it was no different from regular school doors I don't even know what I was expecting. I opened it cautiously and was greeted by a girl with long hair that went down to her waist. It was similar to the color of amber. Her eyes were chocolate brown but they still looked gorgeous they sparkled with every move she made. She was wearing the same school uniform we all wore. The black skirt and red jacket. "Hi I'm Amber!" Her parents named her right I thought. "I-im Nia." I stuttered. I seriously just had to stutter. I turned around and saw a lady walk toward us. "I'm sorry about that but if you don't already know this is Amber she will be guiding you around the school." I guessed this woman was the school secretary. "Amber has a similar schedule to yours so she will be with you most of the time when you need it." It felt like this school was assigning me a friend. The secretary left us on our own. Amber watched as she left I just kept staring at the schedule on my phone I had to memorize it. "your gonna do fine." Amber said in a soft voice. "your schedule is almost the same as mine so all you have to do is follow me most of the time." she smiled sweetly and calmly something about her voice was comforting. "Oh okay thanks." I said back.

We still had about 10 minutes before 1st period started which left us time to chat. "So who was that boy you walked to school with?" Amber asked. Great I didn't think of this Griffin would look like a boyfriend if he walked me to school. "Oh thats just my older brother Griffin." I explained. "That's good because there are a lot of cute boys here." Amber smirked. I had no intentions of getting a boyfriend at this school. More over he would be a vampire. I don't know how vampires would treat their loved ones. If it was any different to how we treat ours. "What I have no intentions of finding a boyfriend." I blushed at the thought. Amber giggled, "Okay okay. But just so you know if any of these boys bother you just let me know." I appreciated that she offered help I'll probably need it. Amber was enjoyable to be around I almost forgot she was a vampire. I knew she wouldn't hurt me though but I didn't know about anyone elses intentions. Not long after the bell rang signaling first period.

I followed behind Amber to our class. Once we. got to class I had introduced myself. "h-hello I'm Nia I'll be joining your class." I scanned the classroom. Amber was right the boys were cute. I'm not sure where I got the sudden interest but she was right. I took my seat next to Amber by the window. I couldn't say I enjoyed the class all we did was sit down and write notes. I kept scanning the classroom memorizing everyone's names and how they look. Other than that class was pretty boring nothing to do or anything.

The bell finally decided to ring. we had 5 minutes in between each class which gave me time to head there. While walking to class with Amber I noticed three girls whispering and staring at me. I just assumed it was because of me being a human. I may look like them but I'm really different from them in ways. I can understand how forcing a human to transfer here would be a huge shock to everyone. "ignore them." Amber grabbed my hand and pulled me to the next class. "That's Olivia she kinda has a mean streak." Amber explained. Great I thought now I gotta deal with her. But I minded my own business I rarely talked to anyone besides Amber. I don't see how I could pose a threat to her. That was the first time I even looked at her.
