The White of Freedom

Standing before a rather plain looking door, inlaid into the rocky wall, Kasdeya could barely contain her excitement at the prospect of finally finding something new. A length of time had passed since she had decided to leave the cave, where she carved some new 'bone bombs', and, after continuing to move up these disjointed 'stone steps', she had finally reached the peak and come across a large, but mostly unadorned door.

During this time, she had hunted quite a few monkeys, similar to the first she found, and discovered that they seemed to have some sort of mental attack which would make someone think of nothing but attacking them, though, it lost a lot of its effect when the target knew about it.

'If this is going to follow a common pattern then I'm so close to the next evolution. Too bad these monkeys seem to give hardly anything.' Kasdeya turned to the door, her tail making an arch behind her, 'But forget about that! A door! A massive door! This practically screams exit!'

So, unable to wait any longer before tasting sweet freedom from this wretched imp infested place, she moved to the door and pushed as hard as she could and, after a few awkward seconds of the door not budging, it started to make a grating sound as the several metre tall doors were pushed outwards.

Fueling Kasdeya's growing excitement even more, light started peaking through the widening gap, accompanied by a billowing storm of snow.

Kasdeya wasn't deterred by the sudden and frigid substance, instead, she was even more delighted as snow, or what she assumed to be snow, generally meant the sky and the sky meant she was no longer underground.

Pushing her way through the opening that was created, she gazed out over a mountainous landscape covered in snow, which quickly put a dampener on her mood.

'Great, I came out on a mountain range in the middle of nowhere.' Kasdeya thought unhappily but she was still glad about getting out of that imp infested cavern.

Now that she was no longer caught up on the euphoria of getting to the surface, she started to notice that it was quite cold, which also brought her attention back to her clothing situation for the first time in a long time.

Inspecting her almost completely bare body, covered in the crusted blood of felled imps and monkeys, she started considering that maybe she should have skinned some creatures to make clothing out of.

'None of the imps wore any clothes and I was kind of caught up with other things so I guess my nudist habits just slipped my mind.' Kasdeya thought while heading out into the white, rocky landscape.

Jogging while browsing the landscape, she was looking for any sort of natural shelter or creatures. The shelter was to try and wait out the billowing snow, while the creatures were for food and clothing. Due to the aforementioned billowing snow, however, both tasks were proving difficult.

'Judging from the weather, I'd imagine the temperature would be ridiculously cold,' Kasdeya thought while suppressing a shiver which crept up her spine while she was moving, 'though I only feel a bit cold. How far evolved are demons compared to humans anyway? Here I am, practically stark naked in a snowstorm and only getting a few shivers while a human in this situation would probably be dead already from hypothermia.'

Taking out a sword from her pouch, she injected the engraved rune with mana and held it up with fire burning on the blade in an attempt to see better, but only managed to illuminate the area slightly and not grant much more than that.

Turning in a full circle, Kasdeya could've sworn the storm got even worse than before, in addition, the sun was now starting to droop in the sky making her mood dip slightly.

The wind, having picked up to a howling gale, made it so Kasdeya couldn't even hear anything anymore, and she started pondering whether she had the skills to make an igloo when she glanced around once more and saw a lumbering frame, sprinting on all fours spontaneously jump out of the snow at her.

Rolling to the side to get out of the way, Kasdeya spun around only to see it disappear into the gloom once again. Crouching down slightly, Kasdeya prepared herself for another charge, a slight growl rumbling within her throat which she noticed and forced to a stop as it did nothing useful in this situation.

Gripping a couple of bone grenades in one hand and the sword in the other, the flame still burning on the end, Kasdeya knew it was essentially a massive beacon and most likely what attracted this creature in the first place but, right now, she had no way to find the creature so she was relying on it attacking her.

Over the billowing wind, a single, muted thudd could be heard to Kasdeya's right, indicating the beast's location. Turning to face it, she saw it lunge out of the snow at her once again, however, this time, instead of just dodging, she anticipated its trajectory and hurled a few exploding bones in its path, 1 of which detonated early and the other two hit the creature directly before combusting.

Letting out a pained roar, the giant creature collapsed in a heap, its momentum making it tumble across the ground into the snow before it, again, disappeared from sight..

Sprinting after it, Kasdeya found its heavily wounded body lying on the ground, scorch marks covering it and blood slowly dying the snow red.

Race: Dark Yeti]

Looking at the enlarged, white primate on the ground, Kasdeya was trying to figure out what part of it was 'dark', when its breathing slowed to a halt and its body started to cool.

'I guess these yeti's aren't all too powerful, though it was only level 3 so I probably shouldn't expect much. But more importantly, I now have some meat and fur to make dinner and clothes. Too bad I didn't have the foresight to think the explosions would damage it this badly. Honestly, I only expected them to knock it off balance then I'd go into a melee to kill it but, whatever. More importantly, can I evolve now?'
