Spatial Jargon

Upon choosing to start the evolution, Kasdeya tried to observe her environment before suddenly feeling dizzy and faint. Everything seemed to be getting warped over itself and it was incredibly nauseating to look at, reminding her of the feeling she got when she was trying to watch the walls of the strange space she reincarnated from, minus the headache.

She also felt a painful prickling sensation over her skin, which she assumed were the runes on her body changing, but she couldn't properly watch the change without falling over, so, resigned to just squeezing her eyes shut, she waited for the evolution to finish.

[Name: Kasdeya Votumea

Race: Runic Locus Devil

Gender: Female

Age: Ageless

Level: 0

Strength: 70

Endurance: 87

Soul: 130

Luck: 3]

Looking at her status while waiting, she observed that strength had increased by 10 points, endurance by 10 points, while soul had increased by 15.

"This is a nice enough increase, but it could always be more. Then again, nothing good ever comes of being greedy so I'll just be happy with what I have. In saying that, if a nice opportunity presented itself, I'm not saying I wouldn't take it, just that… Why am I rambling? Am I actually going insane without realising? I have been constantly talking to myself ever since this whole thing started… hmm… Oh well, no point thinking about it."

Feeling the prickling sensation finally stop, Kasdeya figured that the evolution process had ended. Tentatively opening her eyes again, she was glad that the world had mostly returned to normal.

'Why is the air shimmering?' Kasdeya sat on the ground to figure out the strange state of the environment. Everything she could see, while no longer appearing to contort into itself like when she was evolving, now seemed to be overlaid with 'boundaries'. The physical objects were still clear but it was like a filter effect was placed over everything in her line of sight, overlaying everything the slightest amount. It was as if the world was made up of countless layers forming a 3D building schematic in multi-dimensional space with the physical objects simply being added in afterwards, according to said schematic, within the proportions of the layers.

'Ok, this is kind of distracting, but I can more or less see everything just as well, so whatever this effect is caused by is hopefully not bad.'

Bringing her attention back to herself, she started testing her capabilities to see if anything else had changed. Cycling her mana and then infusing it throughout her body, there were two notable adjustments, she could control the mana even easier than before and, when it passed by her eyes, it seeped into them.

The strange overlay, which now existed within her sight, was enhanced to the point where it was impossible to ignore, with the layers interconnecting to form what could only be described as a spatial plane diagram manifested into reality.

She could 'see' the space around her and could determine the coordinates, in relation to a designated point, of what she was focusing on. Although, due to the sheer amount of information contained within a single 'spatial coordinate', as soon as she focused on a different area, the details of the previous point faded from her memory.

"This race evolution was called a 'Runic Locus Devil' right? So, assuming 'locus' refers to something to do with dimensions or space or something, the name gives me a wondrous idea." Kasdeya murmured to herself, no longer caring about her questionable sanity levels or the possibility that she was lonely, and thus, talking to herself.

Continuing to pour mana into her eyes, Kasdeya focused on the space right in front of her, giving herself a headache as she attempted to process all the information in order to do what she had envisioned.

Reaching out with her index finger extended, she focused her mana into her finger and made a few gestures, watching in crazed delight as a faint, bluish line formed in the air in front of her. However her delight faded slightly when she looked at the line from the side and noticed that it wasn't a straight, connected line but a series of short, broken lines, each at a seperate distance from each other.

She immediately knew what went wrong. When she tried to draw the line, too many values were changing at once and, due to her inability to keep track of them all along with her singular viewpoint, she could not accurately draw the line on a singular 'layer'. Think of it on a 3 dimensional plane. While the z and y values need to change in order to draw the image, the x value must stay the same to keep the image 2 dimensional. However, when Kasdeya attempted this, all three values changed at once.

"Ok, drawing with mana in random points of space seems to be slightly outside of my capabilities right now,-" Kasdeya quickly took notice of her mana levels and realised she had consumed a significant amount with that simple line, "-plus it seems to be much too costly. Even if I had managed to not mess up a single line, if I was to draw just a simple fire rune I'd probably completely run out of mana."

Though, not giving up on her newly realised dream of drawing runes on nothing, Kasdeya attempted to lock the coordinates of the mana on the tip of her finger, rather than in a determined point in space.

Moving her finger to draw a few lines, Kasdeya once again wore a devilish smile as she watched the same blue line form in the path her finger traveled, this time being much more distinct and consuming significantly less mana than the previous attempt, clearly showing this method to be much more efficient and within her capabilities.

Now having gotten the method down, she sketched a fire rune. With a now semi-completed, slightly see-through rune hovering in space, she drew the final line and watched in excitement as the entire rune shone and then disintegrated into flames.

"This is AWESOME!" Kasdeya couldn't help but jump into the air like an excited school girl while crying out, her voice echoing through the room, her tail wagging behind her as she started to jump around in circles, not caring that she was acting like a child.

'Carving runes into objects is cool and all but it's just not the same as this. Thinking about runes though, it's time to see if I have learnt any new runes, I also need to go and hunt some more yetis in order to make myself a proper outfit of some description. Preferably not made out of charred fur.'
