Chapter 10

Ava

It's been a week since our date. Things have been great. I had everything I could ever ask for. We decided to keep our relationship a secret in office not because David didn't want to but people talk except for a few close ones. Claire and Aria knew about it because they are the only friends I have here except Liam, Austin, and Kathy. I loved how David cribbed about how he cannot stay close to me in the office around the others. Honestly, this sneaking around was kinda fun.

Well, Aria was right about one thing. How can someone not fall in love with David the moment we see him? What can I say? I am added to the list of girls who fell in love with him. The only difference is that he loves me back.

Liam, Kathy, and Austin were very friendly to me. We met twice after the date but they don't know yet because we didn't tell them. Today everyone is coming over and we are going to tell them about us. David had to take care of a few things so he left for work.

Ding Dong

I was watching the TV when I heard the doorbell. He is here. I rushed towards the door and opened."Dav...Oh sorry."

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" When I opened the door. There was no sight of David but a woman a little shorter than I am. She had beautiful curls and she was pretty, not gonna lie. She was fair, had black hair, and looked like somebody. I didn't recognize her and she starts asking questions."I am Ava. I am living here for a while now."

"Oh, I am sorry. Looks like my big brother shifted without telling us."

She regretted being rude but when she said something about her brother. I assumed she was David's sister Silver. I never saw their photo but David talks about a lot of his family and his description of her sister fits her."You must be Silver."

"Oh yes. How do you know my name?" She was taken aback when I called her by her name. She gives me a confused look and looks at me as if trying to remember me and I say. "I have heard a lot about you from David."

She sighs and keeps her bag on the tabletop entering the house. "So I got the house right, Phew! but who are you? You said you are living here. I don't understand. As far as I know David he never allows anyone to stay at his house. Did he rent you a room?"

I feel it is something David should tell her. I am just a stranger to her. She should know when David tells her. It's not my place to say."I think you should ask David yourself. Meanwhile, I was making pancakes. Would you like to have some?"

She nods her head and sits on the couch."Sure, Where is David?"

"He is in office. He must be on his way." I tell her and move to the kitchen. She takes out her phone and dials a number. I assume she was calling David. She mumbles something which I believe was cuss words.

Ding dong

I was moving forward to open the door and Silver shows me her palm stopping me from opening the door. She opens the door and I stand behind her. The same thing happens with David as me. She assumed it to be me and was surprised to see her sister.

"Pretty Face, I am here...Oh, Silver. What are you doing here?"

"I was in the neighborhood so I thought I should visit my big brother. Looks like we have a lot to catch up on." Silver crosses her arms and looks up at her brother. If I were him, I would be intimidated by her. Feels like David is gonna get interrogated by her sister.

"I am glad you came. You didn't call me so I was just a little amazed by your sudden visit." David gives her a faint smile and I understand what's going on in her mind. He was shocked by her sudden visit. He doesn't mind her sister over but her surprise visit is what amazed him.

"I did call you." Silver raised her eyebrows probably irritated by his weird behavior and finding a girl living at her brother's house. Trust me if I had a brother and I found a girl living in my brother's house that too a stranger I would have acted the same. "No, you didn't." David says to her to which Silver replies"Yes, I did."

"Ok fine, You did. Now can I say what I had to?" David raised his hands surrendering. The least we wanted now was an argument. He was going to tell his sister about us and I thought it would be better if they talk alone."I should leave you two to talk."

I was about to leave when David stops me by taking hold of my wrists. He pulls me closer to him and I found his hand snaking around my waist. I take a look at him and he closed his eyes as if saying 'Let me handle this.' He clears his throat and looks back at her."Silver you are the first I am telling this to. Promise me you won't freak out when I tell you."

Silver says looking at us confused. "Stop it and tell me already."

He takes a deep breath and I gave his hand a gentle squeeze and then he says it out loud. "Ava is my girlfriend."

Silver chuckles not believing in what David says. "Is this a prank?"

"Silver..." He glares at her. Silver takes a moment to process everything as she looks at us closely for about a minute and then she lets out whatever she had analyzed in her mind. "So this is true. You are not stealing glances away from me and looking at me. You can't look in the eyes when you are lying."

True. A person who is lying always tries to steal glances and avoids eye contact unless he or she is a professional liar. I am a person who cannot lie looking at someone's eyes."Same for me."

"So yes, she is my girlfriend," David repeats that I am his girlfriend. I could feel my cheeks redden and a smile form on my face. Sure, many girls have a crush on him but I am his girlfriend. He loves me. I don't why but I feel so happy listening to it. As soon as David said it again, the others came in from the door.

"I was shipping you both since I met you," Kathy said with a huge smile on her face.

"Finally, you look so cute together." Liam says next and then followed by Austin."I knew it. Now let's make the party." From how much ever I knew Austin. I know he loves food and party. Any small thing can be a reason for a party.

"Austin always finds ways to party," Kathy mutters and everyone laughs while Austin is making a face. Everyone's face had happiness written all over. A smile plastered on their lips except for one person, Silver. Then she says."Before that, I want to talk to David alone."

David

"Fine. Come with me." Silver wasn't pleased about what I said and I could see it written on her face and it's only because she cares for me a lot and doesn't want to see me hurt.

I knew that when she gets a chance to know Ava, her doubts will be cleared and they will gang up against me. I take her to my room and we sat on the couch of my bedroom. She takes a look around and I wait for her to speak. I look at wherever her gaze moves to and she looks at the makeup on the dressing table. Some of Ava's clothes on the bed and entirely the room. She finally speaks moving her face to me "Are you happy?"

I could see the doubt and concern in her eyes. "No, I am not," I say to her and she was furious as she screams. "Then what the hell are you doing with her?"

"That's because I am the happiest."

I say it to her. I wasn't kidding. Ava made me believe in love again. When I am with her I could only think of ways to see her beautiful smile. When I am not with her I only dream of holding her in my arms, kissing her, and running my fingers through her hair.

"When Maisha cheated on you with Thomas. You shut down everyone. Even us. You were hurt yet you didn't show us you were but we knew you were miserable. I couldn't see your pain. I am just concerned David because I care for you and I don't want to see you hurt." She says and lets out a sigh.

I understand her reasons but it's about Ava. She doesn't want to see me hurt because of someone else. She wasn't convinced yet. I take her hand and sandwich it between my hands."I appreciate your concern but she is nothing like Maisha. I love her a lot and I don't know how to explain this feeling. When she smiles I am delighted. At night, I just want to hold her tight and admire her face in the morning. I don't know if it's possible but when she is close my heart beats a bit faster than usual."

Ava

We ordered food and chatted for a while but it's been so long they went in to talk. Honestly, my mind was constantly roaming around what David and Silver might be talking about. It's been a long time and Kathy suggested to go check upon them.

I head towards David's room and find the door ajar. I was curious so I stood at the door eavesdropping on their conversation and I heard David. Hearing David talks about me made me blush. He always expressed his feelings out to me but some things you don't have to say but feel. This was so sweet. What can I say, David? It is me who is lucky to find you. You make me happy...

Okay. Eavesdropping isn't good. I entered in opening the door. I walk up to David and stand beside him. They both stood up seeing me and Silver looks at me while I say. "I am sorry to have overheard your conversation. I had no intention of doing that but Silver. I know about Maisha and she doesn't deserve him for what she did nor I am saying that I am perfect and I deserve him. Everyone has their flaws but one thing which I am sure of is I love him a lot and I WILL NEVER HURT HIM."

Her facial expressions change as she thinks about and David backs me up. "I know you are concerned Silver and I understand it but I am serious about Ava. Just give her a chance. Once you get to know her, you will understand what I am meaning to say." She didn't argue anymore. Her lips curl to a smile that brings a smile to both our faces.

David pulls me close and puts his hand on my waist. He looks at me with glowing brown eyes and smiles. David leans in kissing my cheek leaving butterflies in my stomach.

"Then I am happy for you David. It was nice meeting you Ava. I should leave now." Silver says smiling and we look at her. I ask her to wait for dinner and she gives me a look which meant to say 'Another time for sure.' She said, "I wish I could but I have assignments lined up."

"I will drop you then." David insisted and Silver denied."I will go by myself." David insisted on dropping her because it was late but she denies it again and again. Then he agrees with her."Fine. Give me a call as soon as you reach."

Silver comes and hugs David and he says. "Love you, Silver. See you soon."She pulls back and looks at me smiling "Thank you, Ava, You changed David. He changed from being annoying to loving. I need to save the date."

She was trying to tease David which worked. He gave an irritated look to her. "Way to spoil the moment. I take it back. Hate you."

"But I love you brother." She chuckles.

"Go now."

"I was wondering I can do my assignments tomorrow. I should stay." Silver takes a step back and thinks about staying is when David glares at her and she leaves immediately.

"You two look so cute while fighting." Looking at the fight it was too good to watch. Silver annoyed her brother and he teases her. It was funny."Trust me, It's nothing. You haven't seen the worse." He says with an irritated look on his face.

Silver left and we went back to the living room. We all chatted till midnight. We didn't realize the time. It's true, you don't feel when time passes by so fast when you are having fun. It was about midnight when everyone left. We cleaned up everything and sat on the couch. I laid my head on David's shoulder and stayed there for a while talking.

After a moment of silence, David says."Ava, There is a charity Gala organized by my parents this Tuesday. It's more like a family tradition. My grandfather used to host it and now my parents."

The charity Gala was all I could hear in the office. Who would wear what? Who is invited and who isn't? Back then, when I didn't know David I used to see about it in the news. I say back."I heard of it in the office."

"That's great that you know. I will come straight to my point then. As my girlfriend, you are coming with me as my date." I jump up at that. David was surprised when I stood up suddenly. I didn't think about that. I know it is a pretty big event. "You mean Tuesday, it's not even two days from now."

"Also I want you to meet my parents," David says and my mind is on a toss. Not only I have to go to a Gala where celebrities will be present. I have to meet his parents.

No, no, no. I am not ready for this.

"David, I don't have anything to wear and meeting your parents. What if they don't like me? You take someone else."

David makes me sit beside him. He comes in closer and places his hand over my cheek and looking at me with his gleaming brown eyes.

"You will be fine, Ava. You met Silver. Now it's just my parents and Allan."

"I am not sure I can do this." Sister is another thing. Parents are another thing and I can't ignore the fact Silver wasn't convinced with the idea of us. What if his parents don't like me? What if they tell me to leave him? I have seen this in movies. The father gives a blank cheque to the girl to leave his son's life.

"Ava, you are coming with me. I am not going otherwise and just so you know. It's real-life not movies. So my father isn't what you are thinking he is like."

I was stunned. He reads my mind like it is his. Then he looked at me with pleading eyes and a frown on his face. I couldn't say no. His face lightens up as soon as he says yes.

"Fine. I will come with you. Why do you have such beautiful eyes? I can't say no to them."

"I got the best genes, you know but I like your twinkling blue eyes. You don't have to worry. We will leave whenever you say." As long as I have him by my side. I guess I can make it work.

Meanwhile

Unknown person POV

"I will get the papers ready." They came together and have been working on their plans since evening.

"Yes. You want Ava and I will help you get her." The person says and has a wicked smile on her face.

"You can't get away from me Ava. I am coming to get you." He laughs sure that his plan will succeed.

(Who are these people? What are they talking about? Will David's parents like Ava. All questions will be answered in the next chapter.)
