Chapter 26

Ava

I was discharged a week later but I had broken my right arm and left leg which were plastered. The doctor came by every two days for a checkup. I was put up on a diet but I was craving pizza.

I hate that I had to eat non-oily food and salads. Samantha managed to sneak in pizza one day but David caught her. David was tough in things like this. Not even my puppy eyes worked.

He was always there throughout. The three of us watched movies together and he read stories to us till we slept. He was responsible to make our food and since my right arm was plastered, David used to feed me.

Everyone came to visit me. After the accident, we explained to everyone about my reasons why I had to leave and gladly everyone understood my reasons for leaving and I was accepted back into the family.

Shane on the other hand was loving all of this. He was overjoyed and he had never been this happy. He would spend some of his days at his grandparent's house and they love him a lot. After all, he is their first grandchild.

Kathy, Austin, and Liam visited me too and I was happy to have them all back. Things were finally falling into place. It's been a month and a half now. I am finally free from the plasters and I am completely fit and fine.

David has planned something for us tonight and as you may know him. It's a surprise. He brought me this dress. It was a long high-slit gown. It had a belt on the waist. I left my hair loose and I wore long heels. I wore the necklace David bought me six years ago. I kept it with me always. I went downstairs and as usual, David was waiting for me downstairs. He dropped Shane at his grandparents.

He was wearing a blue tux and he looked strikingly handsome.

He kisses me and then pulling back he whispers in my ear. "You amaze me every time. You look beautiful."

"And you are charming as always."

"Let's go." I put my arm in his as we walk to the car. He opened the door for me and I sat in.

After half an hour's drive, we reached our spot. The place was somewhat similar but I could not recall anything about it. We entered the restaurant and something was very weird.

It was so empty and isolated. There was no one here but I couldn't get enough of it. The ambiance was serene. I was already loving this place. There was a single round table in the middle under the big chandelier. There was also a big balloon stuck to it. I took a look around. It was decorated with lilies, my favorite flower.

Knowing David, he might have rented the whole place for us tonight. I looked around and this place was simply remarkable. It was something else. It was exactly how I would want my restaurant to look like. There was a minibar to the left and the kitchen was to the right corner. My attention went to the minibar. Something was covered with black cloth and according to my guess. That is where the name of the restaurant is put out.

"Did you like it?" He says and then takes my hand walking us to the middle of the place below the chandelier.

"I already love this place."

We were standing in the middle when I took a look around.

"I want to say something."

"Not before I do. This time I won't let you speak first. The last time you did you left me." I laugh at this statement. That was true. I kind of anticipated what is going to happen next. It's been high time. This is the second time he planned all of this only we didn't get to the part when he proposes.

"Ok. You go first."

David takes my hand and kisses it and then kneels. I said yes before he even popped the question. I should have waited but I guess I was too delighted.

"Yes. Thousand times yes."

"You have to wait for me to ask. Also, I had to memorize and redo the speech. At least let me speak this time." I was very excited. Tears almost forming in my eyes and I was so happy. My heartbeat was so fast that I could hear my heartbeat. I was smiling and my cheeks probably red. I was enthralled.

"Ok ok go on."

"The first time I met you I knew you were the one for me. I fell in love with you at that very moment when you smiled at me for the first time. You made me believe in love again. You are my best friend, my other half, my everything. I can't imagine spending my life without you. The time you left was the worst and it made me realize that my life was so empty without you in it but you also made me believe that love is worth the wait and I don't regret it for a second as long as I have you back. I can't wait to call you my wife.

"So Ava, Will you be my sugar to my coffee, sunshine to my sky, waves to the ocean, calm to my storm."

He takes a deep breath and says.

"WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

Just then he takes a ring box out of his suit pocket and opens it. I couldn't hold myself. I was so happy I couldn't explain it in words. I can't wait to be called Mrs. Smith. David was the most incredible man I ever met.

He loves me, cares for me. He makes me feel special. He walked into my life like he always belonged there. Things changed as soon as he stepped into my life.

I can't have words to describe him. It will not be enough to express my feelings for him and the things he had done for me and the most beautiful thing was I wasn't even looking when I found him.

Tears run down my cheeks and these were happy tears. All these years we were apart our bond grew stronger than before and I now knew we can overcome anything together.

"Sunshine, as much as I know my answer I want to hear it from you and my knees are somewhat hurting me."

"Yes, I can't wait to be Mrs. Smith." I chuckle as David slides down the ring in my finger and the balloon above us explodes showering roses over us.

It's happening.

This is happening.

I am getting married to David.

I kiss him and this was something else. David gave a sign and the music started and we danced for a while. I put my hand on his shoulder and rest my head on his chest embracing him as he leads the way.

I take a whiff of his natural scent and smile. This was one of the beautiful moments we ever had. More yet to come. We danced at the slow music silently cherishing the moment. No one said anything. We wanted to enjoy the embrace of each other and nurture each other's company.

"Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight, fiance?" He whispers in my ear and I feel my cheeks redden due to blushing. Fiance. The way the word rolls out of his tongue gave butterflies to my stomach. It isn't a dream. It is real.

"I like the sound of that. It is happening. Us getting married."

I said chuckling looking into his eyes. He gives me a smile and mumbles."Yes. We are. I have another surprise for you. Follow me."

David takes my hand and takes me to the bar. I was curious about it and with every passing minute. I was getting impatient about what was behind that black cloth.

David made me hold a long rope which was decorated with flowers and colored ribbons and bows. He asked me to pull it and I couldn't believe it all.

(What is David's big surprise? Will Ava like the surprise? It's happening. Stay tuned.)
