Chapter Eleven: The Video Call.

Damien's POV ♣️

Kimia and I were out sightseeing with Nina as our tour guide. I was still amazed by the beauty even though I had been here before.

We went to the National Capitol building, The Malecón, Castillos de los Tres Reyes del Morro and we were currently in the revolution museum.

" This section of Havana is called the Old Havana. The museum is housed in what used to be the Presidential Palace of all Cuban presidents from Mario Garcia to Menocal to Fulgencio Batista.

It became the museum of Revolution during the years following the Cuban revolution.

It was opened and inaugurated in 1920. Rodolf Manuri and Paul Bealu were the architects of this building and it's architectural style is eclectic."

" Wow Nina how'd you know so much about this place?" I asked as we came to an halt with one of my arms slung across Kimia's shoulder.

Nina smiled cheekily and waved her phone screen showing me the Google results for the history of the museum. Kimia laughed and I just shook my head smiling.

We went back home while Nina went to get some groceries.

" Won't we have to worry about the ladies when Nina's gone?" Kimia asked looking up at me. We were in the room lying down. Well, I was lying on the bed, Kimia was lying on me.

" No we don't. We made them win some random contests with tickets to the same cruise Nina's going on as the prize."

" Oh."

" What is it?"

" What?"

" You want to ask me something."

" Yes." She sighed.

" What is it?" I asked stroking her hair.

" Is it possible for me to speak to Rosa?, You know what forget-"

" No!, Mia it's okay. I'll see what can do about it. I just have to make some calls."

" Really?"

" Yeah."

" Thank you." She said giving me a chaste kiss.

" I'm going to go get a snack. Do you want anything?"

" Nah, I'm good."

" Kay." She replied walking out of the room.

I made some calls and I managed to get her what she wanted.

" Were you able to get me a phone call?" She asked hopefully once she entered the room.

" Even better, I got you a video call."

" Damien thank you so much!" She squealed.

" You're welcome. Now come on."

Once we were connected, Rosa's face came on the screen and Kimia grinned.

" Rosa!"

" Kim!, How were you able to get me a video call?!"

" It was all Damien." Kimia replied turning the laptop screen so she could see both of us.

" Rosa this is Damien, my partner. Damien meet Rosa my best friend and cell mate.

" Nice to meet you."

" Same. And thank you so much for everything you've done for Kim and I. It means a lot."

" You're welcome."

" Hey!, You're making it seem like he's doing it for free. I'm working my ass off here!" Kimia exclaimed.

" But you're clearly enjoying it. I mean look at you, you're basically glowing!"

" I am?!, Woah!" Kimia replied sarcastically.

" Smartass!" Rosa muttered and I smiled.

" I'm gonna give you guys some privacy. It was nice meeting you Rosa." I said making my way over to the door."

" Likewise." She replied.

As I was about leaving, Rosa spoke,

" He's hot."

I looked at Kimia and smirked and she raised an eyebrow then replied looking back at the screen.

" He's okay."

I was drinking water in the kitchen when I felt arms wrap around me.

" Thank you." Kimia said hugging me.

" You don't have to thank me Mia."

" But I do. I really do. Thank you for everything. I know I don't say it much but, I'm really grateful. You're doing so much for me and I just wanna say thank you." She said pulling away.

Her eyes were glistening with tears that were threatening to spill.

" Mia, I-"

" Look I know I'm not the easiest person to work with-"

" Thank God you know!"

" Hey!" She exclaimed hitting my chest and I chuckled.

" As I was saying before you rudely interrupted, I know I'm not the easiest person to work with but please bear with me."

" What Nathan did to me not only broke my heart, it also broke me. I find it hard to trust people now. It took me months to open up to Rosa. And I know you're trying to get me to open up, but please you have to be patient." She said softly.

" I understand." I replied stroking her face.

" I'm really insecure about my height sometimes. When I laugh too hard I cry, my favourite animal is a dog, I can't swim to save my life." She stated.

" How's that for a start."

" Good, we'll take it one step at a time."

" Why are you so nice to me!" She cried pulling away, a few tears escaping her eyes.

" Cause you deserve it. You're may not know, but you're amazing Kimia whatever your middle name is Reynolds!"

" It's Aubrey."

" Really?!" I asked chuckling.

" Hey I didn't choose it!" She exclaimed chuckling, a few tears rolling down her cheeks and I moved closer and wiped them away.

" Maybe things would have been better if you met me before everything happened. You would have liked the old Kimia better." She said playing with my hair.

" The old Kimia would have been too perfect." I said and she laughed.

" Too cheesy?!"

" Yeah, a little bit." She replied grinning and I smiled.

" Sure you can be a smartass and you make my want to pull my hair out sometimes. But, you're not perfect-"

" Thanks for pointing that out!" She stated sarcastically.

" Would you let me finish!" I exclaimed and she pouted.

" I don't want perfect. I want you just the way you are, cause you're perfect for me. I mean who else is gonna bring my ego down a notch?"

" You do have a big ego." She stated and I smiled.

" I know I'm risking a lot by being with you, but you're worth it." I said and she rested her head on my chest.

We stood there in silence until Kimia spoke,

" I hate lying to Nina and the ladies. I'm such a hypocrite cause I hate liars. But I'm trying to reassure myself that it's for their own safety."

" Yeah." I replied but my mind was somewhere else.

" I'd rather be told the painful truth than be lied too." She said then sighed.

" Mia, I have to-" I started but was cut off by the sound of a car horn.

" Nina's home." Kimia said pulling away and then walking out of the kitchen.

I ran my hand through my hair then sighed.

' How am I going to tell her the truth without her hating me?'
